Good changes since Michael Caines became executive chef. Good flavours and they certainly know how to source the produce.

This hotel would have been heavenly, if it weren't for a couple negatives, we're staying for 2…read morenights: 1. The shower is beautifully tiled, but it's hard to figure out how to turn on the shower and there are no bars to hold on to. I started to stand there (since there's glass closest to the faucet control, & adjust the hot/cold control, while getting a cold shower above). 2. The bed is completely covered up so tightly like a package. I twist a nerve on my wrist, trying to un-do the comforters, so I can get inside, and it got too hot during the night, that I ended up sleeping partly outside of my covers, I guest I went too far and I also uncovered part of the fitted sheet as part of my covers, it is no wonder, MY COVERS are too heavy & thick! 3. Several of us, our rooms weren't ready when we entered the hotel, our Tour Director weren't happy about that! UPDATE: See photo. 4. The closet is heated, so while rushing out to catch the bus, I put on my heated-coat, it was giving me hot flushes as we walked down the elevator to the bus, in a sweaty-smelly cranky mood! Other than that, the lights in the bathroom, the decor, the view from our room, they're just perfect, even the chairs, the cushion, the Elle June issue, and tea selections, I just learned the proper way of drinking tea the British way, yeah! We ate here twice for breakfast & twice for dinner, the 2nd night a huge crowd and the staff were hard at work even though we could tell they were understaffed. Food were delicious! BTW: We're not very close to the beach, but there are plenty of seagulls and you could hear them, they're annoying!

We left uttering the following phrase over and over again: Whaaaaaaat is uuuuuuup with this place?…read more Odd amenities, free of charge, as follows: Free wake up call! Shades in the room were too small for the window, so rise and shine with the first am seagull cry! That is, if you slept at all with the beams of streetlamps coming in at all angles. Free "Roman Baths" experience - smell exactly what the ancient people did within your sleeping quarters! Free "B & B" like feel! And the B's are for: Burglary or Break-ins...because the door to the room closes at the top, but by the time you get half way down the door-wheeeee! - it doesn't meet the casing. At. All. Free chiropractic reference on enquiry at the front desk clerk - due to the slip and fall you may have if you dont ask for a rubber bath mat before entering the shower, or from craning your neck to see the late news on the TV realllllllllllllly off center on the wall away from the bed (rather than directly across, where there are curious "art pieces" hanging) or, from tripping in the night to and from the bathroom on the odd step area on one wall close to one side and the-end-of the bed. Maybe hiding pipes or cords or the smell-o-vision tubes? A mini runner-platform-stage for local comic talent? Who knows why the step is there?! Sigh. The location is GRAND. The staff are quite lovely, really. The breakfast was decent and coffee was actually nice.

I love this small, family owned hotel. From the moment we arrived, walking up the front path, Tim…read moreheld the door open for us as we were dragging our 'trolley bags' behind. That was just the beginning of excellent, friendly service. Although I must admit, we are not 'fussy' travelers, all the small details of this eight room hotel made us very happy. I had pre-paid our room including a full breakfast. You can also purchase breakfast, continental for just under £5 or continental plus a hot option (full) for just under £10 (at the time of this review of course). Tim gave us info on the hotel, a map of town, information on how to get around and where attractions are placed. He is very friendly and easy to speak with. As a small hotel, the reception desk is not manned around the clock and a door key of given along with a room key. We arrived just before reception closed. If you know you will arrive after hours, the hotel will send you a code to access the door and your keys will be left at reception. The hotel offers tea and coffee in the afternoon in the breakfast room. Each guest room has a 'hot pot' and a selection of teas and instant coffees with more in the breakfast room if you need to restock. There are also a variety of free biscuits (the shortbread is wonderful) along with snacks to purchase through the honor bar. The honor bar also includes sodas, juices, beer and wine in two sizes (full size or single serve). Just keep track of what you take and tell reception at check-out. You'll find check lists on the sideboard to keep track. The staff seat you for breakfast. A pot of coffee and/or tea is brought to your table as requested, along with a basket of toast, or if you prefer, english muffin and scones. The sideboard includes a variety of jams, honey, cereals, yogurts and juices. The menu offers eggs, pancakes (listed as 'scotch pancakes'-see photo) bacon and the full English breakfast among others. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. When I asked for scrambled eggs and an English muffin (normally served on toast) it was a bit of a surprise to our English hosts, but they very gracefully acquiesced. The hotel has conservation measures in place. The waste basket in the room is for 'recycling only' while the basket in the bathroom is for 'trash'. You can also 'go green' meaning you reuse your towels and sheets and get a £3/day credit toward honor bar purchases. This saves water, and reduces the use of cleaning products. Love this option! The building itself is lovely. Wood paneling up the staircase if beautifully detailed. Crown molding, dressing table and seating areas in room, headboards and lighting. So many small, beautiful details. One item to note, there is no elevator in this building. Ground floor is reception and breakfast room (and kitchen). First floor up is four rooms with another four rooms on the second floor up. Be sure you can carry your luggage up the stairs when staying here. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel making it easy to get to and from the city center or take a half hour walk. On the way to town it's down hill, making the way back an up hill journey. If you drive to town, there is a car park near Victoria Park. At the hotel, you can pay to reserve a parking spot behind the hotel, or park on the street. We opted to park on street and were able to find spots very close. The hotel is located in a neighborhood with a few pubs, restaurants and a nearby pizza place within a 15 minute walk or less. Our check out was very early in the morning - before breakfast was served. We spoke w/Tim the morning before, settling up our honor bar. He sent us a receipt, via email, before the end of the day. This hotel is a real bright spot in our trip to Bath. I am so happy we found Cranleigh.

This lovely bed and breakfast, far and away the most charming of our trip, made us want to forget the north of England and Scotland and stay in Bath, enjoying the beautiful city, but also the relaxing, welcoming and, well, beautiful Cranleigh house. The family who owns it is welcoming and affable, the food is delicious (just remember when they say pancakes, they really mean crepes), the showers hot and the rooms spectacular. The B & B is a bit out of the bustling down-town area. One could walk there in 1/2 an hour, but we drove into town and parked and walked from there. The bonus, of course, is that it is quiet and dark and easy to sleep, and more affordable than the B&Bs right in the middle of things. We definitely were happy with our decision. I already started planning our next trip back, and we will definitely stay longer next time!

With a moderate walk, you gain access to the central core of this historic city. However, our July visit was plagued by the horrible breakfast fare. For the money, the management could really upgrade the selections. The main issue was the broken coffee machine. In the height of the tourist season why would you not make every effort to fix this machine immediately. We asked and got no satisfactory answer. Bad, bad, bad. The grocery store across the street was our savior. We bought some fresh breakfast items and brought them back to the hotel as a last resort. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The parking is very tight and limited. Come on guys, you can do better!

The room was large and spacious, clean and tidy. It looked quite new, but i am not sureof it was recently refurbished or just looked after. The car parking facilities are good and ample for the amount of rooms. There was a complimentary breakfast included in our rate which was lovely. There was loads of choice and it was served buffet style in a large spacious restaurant which provided newspapers and a large tv screen. The staff were lovely and polite and abl to give me loads of information about what to see and do in the town.

Second, the location and views are great. You can walk to so many good shops and restaurants, but the hotel itself is on a quiet street that has a neighborhood feel. Third, the attention to detail is immaculate. Radio set of perfect music when you arrive? Check. Antique brass keys? Check. Luggage handlers who are so polite you feel like you're a member of royalty? Check. A helpful sightseeing guide for fans of Bridgerton? Check. I really cannot emphasize enough how amazing the hotel and staff were. I arrived sweaty and covered in literal mud from a cross country hike feeling incredibly out of place in such a gorgeous hotel and the staff made me feel like I was arriving at my own home. I loved this hotel so much I wish I had extended my time in Bath specifically so I could enjoy this beautiful property for a few extra days. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING SPOT.

I can't say enough great things about this hotel! I can not wait to return!
