We had a little trouble getting the fireplace to work, and the cold water in the bathroom. But honestly, it is for these little reasons I like B&B's. You Feel like your home....well in a very nice home. The rates were excellent. Breakfast in the morning filled me up. We saw train tracks near by, but no train cam through. A big Catholic Church is 2 doors down. The sound of church bells on late Sunday morning were pleasant. The B&B is very close to town but far enough away to be in a quiet area. I highly recommend this B&B.

Where do I even begin? I keep saying I need to do better at leaving reviews, and our stay this past…read moreweekend has reminded me to do just that! We were attending a baby shower hosted at Maple Shade Mansion, and decided to stay there for our visit. Best decision ever. I am a hotel/B&B/accommodation fanatic. We are always traveling, and our stays are always my job to book. This is by far one of the best B&Bs I have ever had the privilege of staying at. No detail is overlooked, and the service from Karl and Sharon was unmatched. They completely take pride in the Inn and their service of it, and it is very well felt. From our late arrival landing in Pittsburgh, we were greeted with the most amazing welcome. From the evening reception - to the most amazing, multi-course breakfast, it was all superb. My friend and I had booked the Squire Suite. She stayed in the Hugh, and I in the Anna. I wish I could have packed up the bathroom to bring home. That tub was PERFECT! The bed and linens so comfy! And I was obsessed with all of their variety of glassware, plates and other serving dishes. For the shower, we were treated to a spectacular 5 course meal, with no detail overlooked. If you are looking at Maple Shade Mansion for an event - you are in great hands! One morning breakfast consisted of a parfait, followed by an amazing egg soufflé. The next morning we had berries, followed by delicious strawberry waffles. I could go on and on, but will leave it at - WOW! When I got home, I told my husband I am working on an excuse to get back to Brockway again sometime soon! This truly was every spectacular experience I've ever had at many B&Bs all combined under one roof. Thank you for a wonderful visit! We will see you again soon! Hopefully in the warmer months to fully enjoy the grounds, porches and flowers!

Again, very small. One of better breakfast buffets i have had at a hotel. All your usual hotel spread but had a pancake machine and hot cinnamon rolls. An ice maker prob 4 room length away from me went off all the time and I heard the ice being made my whole night. Didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked.

Today, we stayed at the Holiday Inn in St. Marys for the last time. There are three mandatory services a hotel must provide: a comfortable bed, Wi-Fi, and a hot shower. For two out of our three-day stay, the Holiday Inn Express failed the third criteria miserably. Saturday and Sunday morning, the shower and sink water temperature was barely above room temperature. There were other minor creature comfort failures not worth mentioning, but lack of an available hot shower is a deal-breaker. We've been coming to the "Comfort Inn" for almost two decades, but we will never be back.

Here is quite a story for you. My husband booked the Buttonwood in for me because it was the only…read morehotel around in Emporium that was open and taking guests and it was an emergency. It was the last hotel on my list, having been born and raised in Emporium, and I knew it's reputation. But, I needed to get to Emporium. I had a family member that was in final stages of life. So I did it. What I walked into was a hotel room that looked like it was part of a Hollywood scene for an ax murder screenplay. There was black mold on the inside of the windows, Rust in the bathroom on the floor by the toilet.... Rust inside the shower. And the bed. Oh the bed. I checked out a day early because I could no longer stomach the bed. The bed smelled like someone had puked all over it. When I checked out and told Amanda about this, she told me under no uncertain terms that I would not be getting a refund for the day I checked out. It's in the print she said. Now if you look at the print, even with reading glasses, you can't read it. It is so small you would need a high density magnifying glass to read it. There is no check in or check out times listed anywhere for this hotel. there is no coffee anywhere in this hotel. They do offer a refrigerator in a microwave. And beds that apparently smell like puke. I can honestly tell you that because it was the only hotel I could get at that point, I didn't want to complain. I was only in that room to pause and sleep while my family member was transitioning between life and death. This is a heavy subject for me and not one I normally would ever share online. But the way Amanda treated me was heinous. This whole family does not care about their hotel. Or their guests. They should not be in a business that faces people. So I may as well spill the beans. there are supposed to be an extra lock on the door that protects people. It's the little safety lock on the door that is supposed to give a person extra protection. Half of it was broken off. I really didn't feel safe, but my only option was to have stayed in St. Mary's, which was 20 miles away. Here's my recommendation. If you have time to plan a trip to Emporium, stay at a bed-and-breakfast if you can. There are some that are around town, and some that are outside of town. Please do not stay at the Buttonwood Inn. It's not safe, it's not health safe, and I don't know how the health department does not shut this entire place down. And by the way, this is all in my humble opinion. :-)
