The wait time outside was extremely long and we weren't let in until about 6:15pm, which seemed late. Once we were in, the merch lines had super long lines as well so we bypassed those to get some refreshments. We found our seats and waited to enjoy the show. The group came out and it was fantastic! The only zonk would be the seats were pretty close together so you didn't have too much dance space without bumping a neighbor. Other than that the vibe was electric! A smaller, intimate space means all 6,000 of us are in it together to vibe with the group! We were sitting in the 3rd tier but it was a great show regardless. There were two small screens on either side, but we had a good view of the stage. The group can out to the audience a few times, the huge screens behind the stage made the show visually appealing. Cortis is amazing! Can't wait to see them in a bigger venue! We would definitely see another group at the YouTube Theater!

I was able to view the stage without having to stand up despite everyone else in front of me standing up so that was a bonus (because I was in the aisle seat). One of the security guards took a photo for me when I asked. The areas were spacious. There were plenty of bathrooms. There were food trucks outside. I liked that merchandise was also sold outside. The acoustics inside were good. The theater is modern with a lot of glass walls in the hallway areas. There are several concession stands and a lot of workers. The bad: The parking I got was listed as "You Tube theater parking" but was extremely far away. That's not Youtube Theater's fault but I do think parking is tricky. It was a little tricky to see the letters for rows for seats during the dark and I thought there'd be attendants at each door entryway but there was not so I had to ask a few people inside and go in and out a few times to confirm where my seat was. The interesting: The main entrance was closed for my event so I had to go to entry #10. The security line went quickly and the lady scanning my ticket was cheerful and nice.

But this past weekend at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center for Through the Pages, the impossible happened! My 5-star rating is primarily for the breathtaking performance itself, but the theater definitely did its part. It's a very comfortable venue where virtually every seat offers a reasonable view, and the bathrooms were surprisingly clean. We scored fantastic seats in Row D, putting us right up close to absolute magic. The dancers were phenomenal, and the production team deserves a medal--the seamless shifts in scenery, stunning costumes, and amazing backdrops kept the kids completely spellbound from one act to the next. I scanned a room full of children of all ages, and it was quiet as a library--not a single squeak, cry, or fuss to be heard. A two-hour performance with zero meltdowns? That's not just a great show--that's a full-on parenting miracle.

The bathrooms were clean with plenty of stalls and the backstage area was well maintained. The theater itself has lots of seating and is quite comfortable, however, the seating rows are very long with no breaks, so basically if you're sitting in middle seats, you have to walk past so many people on either side of you to try to get out. This would be a nightmare if there was an emergency or anything.

Saturday, October 3, 2026…read more The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts also known as the "Wallis" opened their doors in 2013. The beautifully remodeled building includes the original Beverly Hills Post Office which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Being in the center of Beverly Hills and in the entertainment capital of Los Angeles, the Center attracts highly talented national and international artists. On this particular evening, I had the pleasure of attending a performance by actress, singer and Tony-Award winner, Laura Benanti. She was performing, "Nobody Cares", her one-woman (accompanied by three musicians) show in the 500 seat Bram Goldsmith Theater. With a full crowd in attendance, the center was certainly full of energy. But with Ms. Benanti's storytelling, humor, singing and dancing the place was rocking from the get-go. The show which is autobiographical takes the audience on a journey of Ms. Benanti's life which in parts is hilarious, and in other parts cringe-worthy but as a whole it's a honest take of her life. Ms. Benanti won her Tony for the 2008 revival of Gypsy and has been nominated for a Tony Award for four other Broadway shows. She has also appeared in numerous television programs but is best known for portraying First Lady Melania Trump on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert (check it out, she nails Melania to a tee). However, the highlight of the evening, and the main reason I flew from Florida to California was the opportunity not only to see the production but also to personally meet with Ms. Benanti backstage after her performance. We spoke and I congratulated her on the amazing show she put on that evening but also discussed one of the charities she supports, Democrashe, which is a non-partisan non-profit which trains women to run for office and become future leaders. All-in-all it was a wonderful night and I can't wait to go back to the Wallis and enjoy the diverse programs that the Center is known for.

Be careful when you're walking down the ramp to get to your seats, especially if you are visually challenged. The parking is not so great located down the road near the railroad tracks which does not accommodate the whole theatre. Nearby parking is reserved for handicapped. The theatre is located in the middle of an industrial area. As far as a playhouse is concerned, it seems to be catered to mostly older people. Production of "Next to Normal" was a bit disappointing. Missing from the forces of instruments was an electric guitar, cello, and xylophone. I know this because I have a copy of the complete score as part of my studies. There were many botched lines and one of the actors messed up on his lyrics. Because of the lack of parking and because of where it is situated, I've given this location a one out of five stars. I will not be coming back due to rude clientele, and uncomfortable seats. There was an older grey haired woman who was constantly fidgeting and shuffling her feet during the performance seated two chairs to my left, with one extra chair separating us. While I was trying to read my program using a dimmed light that did not reflect towards her, she had the nerve to grab my hand telling me to stop. The chairs are not jogged so that your view is obscured my the person directly in front of you. At intermission I switched chairs with my husband. No one has the right to touch anyone else without permission. Save your money by not patronizing this theatre. It isn't worth it.

Its staging is small, intimate; however, its potential--in celebrating inspiring talent--is limitless. Steve Julian's "What Kind of God?"--the first in his trilogy of plays which addresses the unjust silencing of others--left me, in fact, speechless. That was the intended irony, I suppose. The highly-talented cast of five--each demanding equal presence and respect--spared no time engaging the audience. I was barely allowed time to breathe before the plot--in its richness, in its depth, in its ugliness--pushed forward. Great acting promises that, allowing you to forget you're merely observing, safely outside looking in. Emily Faris' performance as "Lisa" was most captivating. She was seemless. Even during moments of quiet, it was evident that "Lisa" was conflicted, continually. Emily's "Lisa," even when she first stepped into scene--innocent, seemingly unafraid, optimistic--was hiding something, questioning, censoring. Emily, with apparent ease, delivered. "What Kind of God?" demands discussion. And when the show ends, and you are walking out the door on your way to your car, you find that you are, in fact, strolling. You're thinking. You've left, yet you've taken something with you. Maybe it's a line. Maybe its a gesture. Maybe its a question, an idea. This is a play you'll want to talk about after the fact. The Lillian knew it. And the play expects it.

Will call is roofed, but technically outside, as it's not exactly closed by walls or a door. There are a few benches to sit on, along the entrance, and the Lillian Theater does allow food and drink; candy ($1) and wine ($?) are sold at the will call counter. The staff is welcoming and were obliged to answer our parking questions . The theater is unusually set up. The stage takes over one corner and the house seating takes over the other 3, so you get a wraparound-style audience seating arrangement. Seating as been first come first serve both times that I've visited. This theater is well-ventilated and I believe every seat is a good one, since you get a very broad view of the stage anywhere.
