Beautiful store, well stocked with every possible kitchen necessity, nicety, and gadget, from small appliances to small kitchen utensils. It's mostly higher end products, priced accordingly. Horrible experience with "Julia" who works there. She needs some serious training both in her job and basic human decency. Went in today to purchase a gift. The saleswoman was incredibly rude the whole time and gave us the dirtiest looks for absolutely no reason. We went to another store while she was gift wrapping the items and when we came back the gift was sitting on the counter with no bag. She was not busy with another customer but didn't even bother to come over and give us the gift. She just pointed and said "there it is" when we asked for a bag she ignored us. Luckily another woman who I think was the manager graciously helped us put the gifts into the bag. From someone who has worked retail and customer service in the past, I always make sure to be kind to everyone as I know they deal with many heinous people. So I was truly surprised to receive this treatment in return. read more

The other listing should probably just update the address as WS merely moved around the corner versus closed altogether. The new space is lovely and the cooking demos on Memorial Day weekend were fun and inviting. The poor review is the addition of the furniture bit. To me, it takes away from WS altogether. We go to WS for upscale kitchen products - not furniture - the company's other brand lines cover furniture just fine. In fact, the Westport Pottery Barn Store is so on point right now, it's fantastic. You want to take everything home and redecorate completely. I think they also pick up a lot of business lost from the RH renovation that now showcases furniture only vs. items to take home that day. I've been to WS furniture outlets before and I just don't get who their target market shopper is. It's expensive and not even stylish so it makes no sense whatsoever. Stick with kitchen stuff, WS. That's where you made your name. Not all change is good. read more

Wow, are they snobby in the Westport store. I will order online from now on. They have curbside pickup...but they have closed off the street which is VERY nice, and hopefully bringing in business for the restaurants....so you need to park and call for pick up. I only mention since the woman who I called twice prior to arriving never mentioned it which was sort of inconsiderate to a customer and a bit confusing. I think people are willing to do whatever it takes during these times...just need the guidance from the staff! read more

What a horrible shopping experience. I ordered online and went to pick up in store. I waited at the register marked "online pickups" for approx 15 min while someone was helping another customer. When finished with the other customer, the employee looked at me, and walked away. I was dumbfounded. Someone else walked up to me and asked if I had an online pickup order. She called over the same employee to help me. She asked my name and walked away to go get my order. While walking to get it, she stopped to help another customer for 5 minutes. Maybe I wasn't dressed "Westport" enough. read more

A few weeks went to check the store there as it has moved from its previous place in Westport. The sales person (woman) behaved as if she was doing the customers a favor by answering them. I was completely turned off and left. From now on Only buying online or can use other stores. read more

I came to the store at 6:55 when the store closed at 7. I understand that it's not good to come 5 minutes before a store closes but I literally just needed to pick up something that was on hold. The door was locked and after knocking for a minute a guy came out and said the cash registers were closed so I couldn't go in and was told to come back in the morning. It was the easiest job since I was paying with a card. Regardless of how late I came don't say you close at 7 if you don't actually. Its ridiculous considering I live 40 minutes away and don't have time to simply "come back in the morning." Needless to say, I'm not happy. read more

It's a beautiful store, I love all the products, and they have all great quality items. My problem isn't with Williams Sonoma, it's with the employees and their customer service at the Westport store! EVERY TIME I go to that location I receive horrible customer service from the minute I walk in the door. First time I went I got yelled at for not sanitizing my hands before I walked in, I didn't know I had to. Then i had someone following me around the store rolling their eyes a few times bc I let my 22 month old son walk around the store with me and he was touching thing. (I did not allow him to make any messes). Then I had to wait a good 10 mins to have someone help me with getting a knife. Another time I was waiting in line to purchase my items for 23 mins (I timed it) while the cashier had a long conversation with a customer about their kids. She wasn't even ringing her out. I actually had to say something in order to get help and she didn't even help me. I had to wait for another cashier to come up front. The last time I went there I had a return that I bought online and when I saw it in person I didn't like it. It was unopened and I had the receipt, and they still gave me an issue about trying to exchange it. I will never go back to that location. I drive a good 40mins to the Westchester Mall location bc every time I go there they are SUPER helpful. Customer service can make or break a business. I don't know if it's because I'm young or maybe I don't dress up real fancy, but they look at me like I don't belong there. It is uncomfortable. I have spent thousands of dollars in that store in the past few months and all I'm asking is for a little bit of good customer service. read more

I'm a Tom Hanks kind of guy, so this is really difficult for me to write. My visit yesterday to the WS in Westport will forever rank as one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a retailer. I arrived at 6:35pm in search of a simple item. I knew they closed at 7pm so I found what I was looking for quickly and went to pay for it. I was one of maybe 6 or 7 customers in the store. They have registers arranged in a square in the middle of the floor so it's a little confusing where to cue up to pay. The only register open was register 1#, so I cued up 6 feet from the paying customer. This is where everything went downhill. The customer was returning something, trying to get credit, asking for boxes, etc (which she had every right to do). I patiently waited, and waited and waited. All this time, I watched a half a dozen other employees scurrying around preparing to close the store. No one came to any of the other 3 registers. I waited a good 5 minutes (no, I'm not exaggerating) with absolutely no acknowledgement from any one working there....until...finally someone asked if I needed help. "Yes, I'd like to pay for this," I said. "I've been waiting here for at least 5 minutes." Instead of saying anything positive or apologizing for keeping me waiting, the employee pointed to a tiny 5x7 sign, on the other side of the registers, and said "If you had lined up where you were supposed to, by that sign, we would have seen you." If you've ever been to WS you know how crowded the place is with signs, displays and products, nothing stands out. Ordinarily I would have let that snide comment slide, but her admonishing tone really struck a nerve. I responded by saying "I'm sorry, but everyone in this store seems more focused on getting ready to close than to the paying customers inside." To which she responded "Well, maybe you need to be more patient." What? The last time I looked, the customer is always right...deserves good service...not be reprimanded by someone who wants to punch the clock at the stroke of 7. Even when I reminded her that I'm the customer and shouldn't be talked to that way, she failed to apologize. At this point I turned and walked out the door, never to return to that store again. read more
