We moved to FB in August, 2013 and built a new house. Bruce designed our yard and installed it in December, 2013. We were very concerned about planting in December, however, he repeatedly assured us we had a "12-month growing season." While we did not really believe that, he was a professional landscape architect, so we trusted. About 6-8 weeks after our install, we had a series of frosts, one down to 17 degrees. Roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of our newly planted landscape bit the dust. We lost all our big beautiful double bloom azaleas, our buddleias, and numerous other flowering shrubs. He offered to let us repurchase those plants at his prices. After spending over $10,000 for the initial job, we could not justify spending a penny more on that project, so we ended up having numerous large blank spaces, which we tried to fill in over time with other things.
Lesson here: twelve month growing season...BS. Do not pay anyone to landscape in the winter, no matter what they say. read more
