I'm so disappointed at the quality of follow-up care my mother is receiving from Dr. William J. Pickard's office. My mother is an 86 year old stroke patient who has been under the care of Dr. Pickard's office for about 8 years, I think. His follow up to issues regarding issuing or approving orders for specialist visits and home health care has been poor. He routinely requires my mother to come to his office in person to schedule visits with other doctors or specialists. Which of course is very difficult considering her condition.
My mother was hospitalized with pneumonia back in May of 2026 . Although she received the pneumonia vaccine, her case was related to her difficulty in swallowing because of her paralysis. Upon release she was assigned a nurse, physical therapist, and speech therapist to continue her care at home. According to these very qualified professionals, Dr. Pickard has refused to write or sign-off on the orders for these professionals. Consequently, the nurse discharged her last week. Prior to her discharge, the nurse said she would schedule a podiatrist for in home visit to treat my mother's severe case of toe nail fungus. In addition, the speech therapist ordered a swallow test which was supposedly approved by Dr. Pickard; but, we have not heard when the test will be administered.
My mother is getting weaker and weaker because she needs quality in-home care that we were told she could receive. If something has changed, I would hope that someone from Dr. Pickard's office would contact us and let us know. I have called the office to speak with someone concerning these issues and waiting for a call back.
If this problem is resolved, to my mother and family's satisfaction, I would be more than happy to write a more favorable review. read more
