Dr. Lee and Carly Matthews, his PA, explained every detail of what could happen in surgery, good and bad, in a way where I didn't feel I needed to pull out a medical dictionary. He reiterated at the pre-op appointment and on the day of surgery exactly what he would be removing and re-implanting during the procedure from start to finish and I knew I was in good hands which is always a plus before you entrust a surgeon to make that first cut. I received first rate care from everyone I interacted with starting on the day of the initial consultation at his office as well as with the coordinator who scheduled the surgery, the nurses and Anesthetists on the day of the procedure at the River's Edge 1-Day Surgery Center and then back at the office for post-op care. My husband is in the medical field and looks for faults with providers and their staff but couldn't find any flaws with Dr. Lee and his team. It's been 3 weeks since surgery and I couldn't be happier with the end results as compared to what I had prior to surgery. He prescribed a topical cream and my local apothecary compounded it for me. He has the excellent bedside manner, great intelligence, and most sincere compassion of any ortho doc I have met. I have had appts in Boston that were a joke compared to this experience. And, his education/training is as good as it gets: Penn, Yale Med School, fellowship at The Baptist.

I was given a price for the office visit and told that that's the immediate price I would pay before the visit and then they would work out whether there is an additional fee required based on what happened during the visit. After much back and forth I finally figured out that there was quite a wide range for the office visit could cost. Nor was there a whole lot of clarity on what factors would influence the price. Next, I tried to get pricing for the specific CPT code. They could not or would not give this to me. All in all, there is virtually no transparency in the pricing. This is not the experience I have had with other facilities so something is rather unusual about NHOC.

I was told a nurse would call me back, did not get call back that day. I received a message on my home phone the next day, I was not home that day and called the following day to try to speak to the nurse, I was told she was not available, so waited to see if the nurse would call me back. But they didn't, so called the next day and I asked if I could speak to nurse. I was told she was not available. When I called again the next day to again try speak to a nurse, the person who picked up the phone said OK I will make it a priority for 1 of the 2 nurses to call you back. Well that never happened. So I am now going with another health care provider, which I have already signed up with. It has do nothing with Dr. Shahin, he is a good doctor, it the personnel that works there, especially one of their nurses. I had a problem with one of them back in December of 2025. To make a my complaint short against this nurse, I winded up going to the emergency room. I get yearly physicals at this practice every year in December and the last one I had was in December 2025. I was told today that I am not on their schedule to have my yearly physical, so they never scheduled me to have one. What the HECK ????
