I began with Dr. Fat 30+ years ago because his office was situated very close by my babysitter at the time. I am so glad I made that decision as my family grew, he saw all of us over the years. My kids were in his chair getting cleanings early on. As soon as they could sit and be good for a few moments, we began cleanings. He has been there for emergencies as well when one of our kids kicked himself in the mouth inside a jumper at his brother's birthday party. On a Saturday evening, Dr. Fat met us at his office to check on his cracked tooth. Once we didn't have adequate insurance, his cleaning fee is affordable and a good investment, so we were able to pay out of pocket. Over the years, we've also have different kinds of insurance, he has accepted most of them. We are grateful he hasn't retired yet. OVERALL I recommend this dentist and office. The office suite itself you can tell has been there for a long time, but Dr Fat has been there for a long time too and has a lot of experience. The girl at the front desk was nice too. And to me customer service triumphs over old furniture and carpet. INSURANCE And what's more is that they accept Denti-Cal which is what I have due to being unemployed. They have you fill out a reminder post card for when to come back for the next cleaning. I hope he doesn't retire anytime soon because he's up the street from where I live and I like him and the office staff so far. Also hope my new insurance will allow me to go here. LOCATION office suite 207 is inside a two level professional building. Take the elevator up. I would have taken the stairs but I couldn't find them and I also didn't look that hard haha. The building is behind Chase bank. Outside parking lot with angled parking spots. Brownish trim building. Office suite waiting area is small with four chairs and some magazines. Carpet you can tell could use a cleaning and is old. Small check in window and you can see lots of paper charts in the back. The dentist said so himself he is old school and doesn't trust the Internet haha. At least he's up front about it. Back office has one dentist chair and is stained and old but hey it gets the job done. STAFF the girl made me feel comfortable by making small talk with me about the weather and said the usual polite phrases like she'll let me know when I can be seen and what forms to fill out etc. The dentist himself made me feel comfortable the entire time which was so relieving because I hadn't been to the dentist in years and I was nervous. He didn't judge me at all. He's older but you can tell his mind is still very sharp. A quick look at my chart and he basically memorized the whole thing. You can tell he has a lot of experience and had been around and pays attention because he guessed a lot of my history based on the little bits of information I gave him. He asks questions along the way to get to know you and shares information about himself. He kind of reminds me of my dad. Older gentle gentleman. He gave me advice on how to care better for my teeth in a friendly non condescending way thank goodness because I can't stand it when people in the medical profession talk down to others. I can say that because I myself work in the medical field too. EXAM X rays are old school film I assume because they weren't readily available to look at for him to show me the results like at other dentists I've been to in the past. Which I don't mind because I imagine they have more time to look it over and not rush to look at it on the spot with me there, and he advised that he would call me if he saw anything. Been visiting Dr. Fat for years. Always received kind, gentle, and excellent care. He loves being a dentist and it shows. I never feel like my care is rushed or that he's being sloppy. I honestly find it very relaxing to go visit Dr. Fat and hear him talk about whatever he's got going on. I just found out about William J Fat after switching my insurance, unfortunately he is retiring soon in 3-5 years he says. He has done a cleaning and cavity fill on me and has been very pleasant. He is taking it slow now because he can retire but chooses not to because he loves what he does, and it shows. He has been doing this for 40 years and is very informative and pleasant to talk to. He cares about his patients and is a genuine guy. I will be visiting him from now on until he retires. read more

He was a first dentist I saw when I moved to US from Russia. I went to his office for a few years because he was my X-husband's dentist. When I divorced and moved I discovered what a disaster his work was and how many problems it caused. He said that all the work I had done back home was no good and replaced all my raisin fillings with mercury (gee, thanks a lot!!!) Following dentists said his work was so bad they thought it was done at a third-world country. I am still removing toxic crap he put in my mouth when I didn't know any better. Many fillings have failed way before their time too. FYI -- not only mercury fillings are toxic and unsightly, they also discolor the tooth around it and require far more of the tooth to be removed than raisin fillings, which means you are going to part with your tooth sooner than later. He is nice and pleasant, but you are not going to a dentist to socialize, do you? read more

I've been coming here for two years. He is the sweetest man ever. He talks to you about everything. He even remembers what you've talked about 6 months ago, which shows me he's really personal with his clients. I love that in him. The service is great. He's good at what he does and this time he took the time to explain how my X-rays work. He told me what lighter colors meant and what a cavity looked like (even though I didn't have any). That's really nice. All my wisdom teeth have been out except one which is growing sideways. He always reminds me when I'm ready I can ask him to find a surgeon to remove that annoying tooth. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Even though it's not top of the line seats and the place looks a little run down. Everything is clean of course, but sometimes those hole in the walls takes much better care than those fancy places. read more

I receieved a phone call fromt his dental office, I returned the call not knowing who had called, the receptionist answered & I told her I got a call from this number earlier but I dont recognize the name, she then said "oh ok" and hung up on me!! I thought that was very rude and If I were her I would have at least asked for a name to see if I was a patient or if she had called me earlier or at least say she must have mis-dialed, ANYTHING would be better than hanging up on a potential client! Other than that I cannot say anything else about this business except the receptionist should really think about giving better customer service! read more

My family and I have been going here for over two years. It is very easy to schedule, and they always call to remind us of our appointments the day before. Dr. Fat takes his time and cleans my teeth really good, and he doesn't pressure to do anything only gave us some suggestions with detail explanation. I won't go back for two main reasons: 1) he tried to argue with me that my insurance doesn't cover things that I specifically know it does. Fortunately, medical/dental insurance is what I do - I know my plan inside out. I also brought a print out of what my plan covers. He still wouldn't do it. 2) he took x-rays because he can charge my ins for them. He didn't even look at them. I informed them that I can't chew on one side of my mouth. I have been going to Dr. Fat for over 20 years now & he really knows his stuff! He gets right down to business & takes care of your teeth with no pain! Rather than having a dental hygienist do his cleanings; he does them himself which I love! Recently I had 2 cavities filled & there were numerous instruments in/out of my mouth yet I felt NO PAIN at all; incredible! His Dental Assistant Frances is also great & very loyal; she's been by Dr. Fat's side for many years as well & knows all of the patients. How can u trust this man? His schedule was empty for today , only few appointments . So he did cleaning for me and told me that I need to wait few days to get started working on my tooth . A+; I've read the other reviews and am quite surprised at a couple of them. Yes, the place is a little run down, but his care is not. The staff is friendly and they work with your schedule. They are off on Thursdays. I've been going to them for over 7 years now. I've never had an issue. I'm a RN and am aware of the possibilties of infections when one has a crown put on. There are many reasons that it can happen. I had a tooth that had a crack in it and a crown and it smelled under neath because of the small crack, the bacteria can get in...not because of something the dentist did. I've taken foster children to him and he gave them porcelain fillings (he took their medicare) and gave them great service!! My husband needs emergency care and has to be on antibiotics first; since, for 24 hours, that means he will need to be seen tomorrow,but they are closed on Thursday. THEY are going to locate a dentist to see my husband (who just happens to be going through chemotherapy too) for the emergency work he may need. They are gentle with you and explain everything that needs to be done. The staff have been there a long time; that means NO turnover; that tells me a lot about the BOSS. I'm impressed!!
