Dr. Herrmann examined my left toe which had a little discoloration. He assured me it was common for a person my age. I just turned 70.

Dr. Hattan is an exceptional doctor. He corrected a misdiagnosis by a previous quack doctor I…read morevisited who suggested unnecessary surgery and has numerous terrible Yelp reviews from people being maimed by botched surgery at his hands. Dr. Hattan was the opposite, and he was not only professional in every area, but actually HIGHLY EXPERIENCED and actually CARES about his patients (and follows the Hippocratic Oath as all doctors should). Dr. Hattan not only corrected my issue with thoughtfulness and care, but followed up personally to make sure I recovered well. There's a reason he's considered a highly regarded doctor in Newport Beach. My advice to all people considering medical treatment from a surgeon: do your research. Read reviews (especially the bad ones) so you can make an informed decision. Your feet are supposed to carry you through life, and the wrong doctor will literally ruin your life. Thank you to Dr. Hattan and his team for great care. (Just one suggestion to Dr. Hattan, though: Sir, you might want to yell at your team less. I've learned in my illustrious career as a business owner that it's better to just lower your staff's bonuses, instead, if they're doing a bad job. Yelling only reduces YOUR credibility and causes your blood pressure to rise, which none of us wants, especially a doctor). But I digress. When you're a surgeon who is as good as Hattan is, you can yell all you want, and I'll still always go to him. Great job from a great doctor who understands his craft well, even if his bedside manner is slightly lacking.

She examined my foot and said if it was broken I would be crying. I asked about a boot an an MRI amd she said to wait a couple of weeks to see if it got better. No boot needed. I went to another dr after a couple of weeks who ordered the MRI and spent time examining me and told me to stay off it. It showed multiple fractures and bone bruises. Dr. Gholum cost me two plus weeks of unnecessary further pain. If these fractures don't sometimes show up on an xray she should have known that and ordered an MRI like I asked. She spent 10 minutes with me and sent me home with a list of recommended sneakers and to rest. Very upsetting to say the least.

My husband and I had been walking daily to prepare for the trip, and I developed a bone spur that caused so much swelling & pain, I thought it was going to ruin my trip. Dr. Farajian squeezed me in for assessment and offered a 2 day plan before leaving. Day 1 Sound Wave shock therapy. Day 2 Dual Laser Therapy. By day three I was on a plane to Paris with a walking boot. My first day in Paris I did use a wheelchair for our visit to the Louvre but by the next day, I was able to walk boot free and pain free for the rest of my trip! Until I took a misstep and fractured my ankle on a castle tour at the end of our trip! I came home in the same boot I left in!!! But, not to worry, after 3 weeks of Laser therapy that Dr. Farajian recommended, I am so thrilled and ecstatic to be walking boot and pain free again with NO SURGERY!!! A massive thank you to Dr. Farajian and her office staff for taking such great care of my foot & ankle issues in a non-invasive and effective manner. These treatments are the real deal! I highly recommend Dr. Farajian and her team for their extraordinary results and personal care and support of their patients! -Renata Green-Gaber

Compared to my first visit almost ten years ago with Dr. Coyer - which by the way, was a five-star…read moreexperience all around - my most recent visit was less than perfect. It wasn't a completely terrible visit - but it certainly could've been better. OC Podiatry's Irvine office is now based off Sand Canyon/Alton, in the Hoag Hospital Complex - my first visit was at an office off Barranca Pkwy, behind the Green Burrito. Their Hoag office is a fancy setting - modern facility, with plenty of parking - conveniently located off the 405/5. Dr. Coyer wasn't available, so I met with Dr. Tien instead. Dr. Tien was thorough, provided several treatment options for my ingrown toenail (owie) - including a partial nail removal, which was what I ultimately went forward with. While she was friendly, I definitely felt the three pokes while she injected the local anesthetic into my big toe. The actual nail-cutting wasn't completely painless (which you'd think it would be considering the anesthesia). I like to think I have a relatively high pain tolerance level too, considering I had all of my wisdom teeth removed under local, instead of general anesthesia. No major issues with the procedure - not knocking off any stars for that. The issue is the post-op/after visit. Despite being considered "in-network" - I had to pay for everything - the visit and the procedure - upfront, and in full. There wasn't any explanation from the clerk as to why or if my insurance was insufficient. This was new to me - and I think I have decent insurance, it's Blue Cross PPO - I usually see other specialists with a low copay. Luckily I was able to cover the fee - which was several hundred dollars - but getting some sort of price estimate before the procedure is performed, would've been nice. Or a heads up that they expect the full payment upfront. With follow-up questions on whether I need to file the claim with my insurance or not - I tried to reach out to the office, only to get a long winded voice message redirecting me to a loop - same voice message plays regardless of what number I press. It seems like the only way to get a hold of the office is via text only. Which is frustrating - especially when it's regarding something that is probably more efficiently resolvable speaking over the phone vs. texting. So what started off as a great experience - eventually dwindled down to a "could've been better" experience. If you need to see a foot doctor for whatever reason - Drs. Coyer or Tien are great. But just be prepared to deal with the "after" - unless yours is a simple and straightforward visit.

Not one to normally leave reviews, but this feels necessary…read more On March 12, I scheduled an appointment specifically with Dr. Haupt--his first available was March 31 at 1:30 PM. I arrived at 1:35, filled out the short new patient paperwork in under five minutes, and then sat... and waited. Over an hour later, I asked the front desk how much longer it would be. She said, "We have two doctors today--you're next to see Dr. Haupt." About 15 minutes later (nearly an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time), I was brought to a room. A medical aide briefly went over why I was there and said the doctor would be right in. Then a doctor entered--not Dr. Haupt. She was friendly and professional, and I initially thought maybe she was a resident working under him. I expected he'd join at some point. He didn't. Instead, she left to ask him how to handle my case--whether to get ahold of my old x-rays or send me for new ones. She came back and said they'd skip x-rays entirely and base the custom orthotics on numbers I had told them. That felt strange for a first-time visit involving custom made orthotics, but I went with it. I also showed her a mild toenail fungus, and she said they had an OTC product in-office I could buy. When the aide returned to do my casting and take payment (my insurance doesn't cover orthotics), I mentioned the OTC product so I could pay for everything together. That's when she said, "Oh yeah... we're out of that." No one mentioned it to me. Glad I brought it up. While waiting for the cast to set, the aide scheduled my follow-up and said the orthotics would take eight weeks--though I was originally told six by the "resident", possibly sooner. The aide said they might try to expedite. I asked how long the next appointment would take (since this one had already taken nearly three hours), and she said about 20 minutes. I then asked if I'd be seeing Dr. Haupt next time, since I never saw him today. She said she'd make a note. I told her not to bother--if he didn't care to see his new patient today, why should I see him next time? At this point, he knew nothing about me. I may as well stick with the "resident" I was pawned off to--without warning. The aide couldn't explain why I wasn't informed that I wouldn't be seeing the doctor I scheduled with when just minutes before being taken back, I was told I was "next to see Dr. Haupt." Imagine my surprise when I never did. It wasn't until I got home and looked up the "resident" I saw that I realized she wasn't a resident after all--she's a completely separate podiatrist. No one told me that. I left extremely frustrated. I called my husband, and we agreed I should cancel the orthotics order and request a refund. That conversation was just as disappointing. The manager never introduced herself, never asked questions, never apologized, and showed the same impersonal, dismissive energy as the rest of the office staff. She said she needed the doctors approval to bypass the system and issue a refund--you know, the doctor I never saw--and that she'd call me back today. She didn't. I ended up calling back two minutes before the office closed just to follow up. I was told the refund would be processed. Now I wait and see if that's actually true. At least the aide and the doctor I did see were personable. That's about the only positive thing I can say. Bottom line: This office feels outdated, communication is terrible at best, and no one seemed to care. I'll absolutely be going elsewhere--and I strongly recommend others do the same. Bonus update: I spoke with my primary care physician--the one who referred me to Dr. Haupt. He was livid and genuinely embarrassed he sent me there. He said Dr. Haupt will be removed from his referral list immediately and will make sure no one else in his office recommends this practice again.
