There are a number of different trails to explore that are well marked/kept (similar to all Trustees spaces). After some rain in the area, some of the areas are a bit muddy, so one may want to keep an eye on the weather/bring hiking shoes or other shoes you don't mind getting some mud on. You can also hear the hum of the freeway nearby. I also saw a wild turkey on this hike, which I trailed behind for about 10 minutes, haha! Glad to run into a fellow hiker on this trail! :)

This is a great way to see some history and get a good walk or bike ride in. I went here a few…read moreweeks ago. It wasn't too crowded even on a sunny day. Parking lot might get full but don't worry. Drive a few feet down the road and there are lots all along the route. I parked close to the visitors center. Small gift shop here which had some pretty cool stuff but I thought it was somewhat expensive. I did get there right in time for a short 30 minute movie. I was so happy I got to watch this. Some real cool lighting and a great story. "Road to Revolution" it was called. I highly recommend this! I then walked along the trail called "Battle road". Went for a few miles. There are great signs along the way to tell you about what historical event happened. I will definitely be back here in the fall when all the trees are colorful for a bike ride.

Spent 2 hours walking around the main trail and enjoying the views of green trees. The air was fresh and there were a few people walking along. Park closes at 7pm! Across lexington is a volunteer led organization that has created a network of about 20 miles total…read moreof hiking trails (closer to 30 miles total now) around lexington using various loops , connected via the minuteman greenway(bike path). the rotues are well marked and blazed and maps are available at kiosks and printable maps on the website. Once you learn the routes the first couple times you will get to learn the routes and come back to these trails again and again. Some of them go through higher trafficked areas of Lexington, but many of them go through less crowded sections. I have walked for about an hour in some sections and only seen a couple of people. You can combine loops for longer hike,s or stick to shorter routes. Please pick up aftrer your pet, and keep your pets on leash (lexington town laws). The pond was connected to a series of canals and locks , the pond's water was so clean back in the 1880s that it was sought after for ice in Boston. A lot of people bring their dogs. This hike has a lake where your dog can swim. Nature is beautiful, when you are walking around you could hear the woodpeckers. The only problem is parking. There are not a lot of parking spots, and if you go there, there are only residents parking on the weekends. There is no additional parking available for people who just visiting the park.

There were tons of dogs roaming about, owners right on their heels, so no worries about unattended animals. Clean(er) ponds, since they're connected to flowing water sources. There was only spot we saw where the water seemed stagnant. Most everywhere else it was relatively clean. It's not crystal blue Caribbean waters, obviously, but for your dog to swim in, it's good. CONS: Parking seemed tight. Found a spot, but it looks like local residents are not happy about street parking for overflow, so there were signs prohibiting street parking. This was at the Drabbington entrance. I'm sure there's another entrance I don't know about. OVERALL: My new gold standard for off leash hiking.

Taking a hike on the easy trails at Lone Tree Hill will transport you into a state of peace and…read morerelaxation. It may sound a bit corny, but Lone Tree is so peaceful and secluded from everything that you can walk around for hours. Most of the trails are in the woods or in the fields. During the spring, you will be walking through fields covered in thousands of white daises. The trails are commonly used for dog walks and the occasional bike ride. I also sometimes see people with metal detectors hoping to hit the jackpot, but that's only in the summer. There are so many hidden paths and if you go a certain way, you will a couple of abandoned buildings filled with graffiti. I cannot recommend these trails anymore than I just did.

You might want to make sure that they are open for regular hours before heading out there. There was one time we drove there and were informed that they were closing early because of a wedding was taking place. We weren't even allowed to do a quick drive around although they were closing in an hour and there were many visitors around. Big ups to the ladyfriend for pointing out this on-leash, waterside, trail-loaded bundle of escapist joy. Wide open parks for playing fetch (yes, most peeps think their pup is perfectly mannered, so expect off-leash antics), picnic tables, rock faces for bouldering or Little People, Big World belay practice and a sweet lake sporting - GASP! - cattails. Cattails, people! At five or six spots around the aquatic perimeter, stone steps take you down to the water, which is boring in the warmer months, but come (oh I don't know) January, it's positions you perfectly to grab a paper thin piece of slowly forming ice to chuck along a thicker patch, thus creating that tympanic theremin sound nobody can describe but everyone knows. I love the proximity to Mass Ave and Route 2 without feeling like it's near either. I love the broken down Vita Course stations that are now just decomposing, wooden posts and I love whizzing stale bread through cattail stalks, sending poofs of velvety fibers exploding in to the crisp air, only to send the damaged crust gliding gracefully across way-too-thin ice to live its bird-attracting life at the center of the lake.
