Since I bought my house I've wanted to do something about my backyard. There was a concrete pad…read morebehind my house but it was very unlevel, the concrete was busted up and the drainage situation was bad. I'd heard several good things about Custom Stoneworks and Design from my neighbors so I got in touch with Tony, the company's owner, and he came over to my place to come up with a plan and work up a cost estimate. After seeing my situation and discussing what I was looking for Tony got back to me fairly quickly with a price for the job. The cost was reasonable, but construction work had to wait a few weeks because he had a backlog of projects. Once the job was done I was extremely happy with the results. My backyard looks great and as far as I can tell no corners were cut and there was no sloppy work. There were a few minor unexpected issues with a drainage pipe but those were easily dealt with. The work did take longer than originally estimated (what was supposed to be a one day job turned into 2 & 1/2) but all I had to do was unlock my back gate before I left for work in the morning so the delay didn't really impact me. Another thing I was happy about was that Tony seemed to be familiar with the challenges of working on small city rowhouses. There's no convenient place to park a truck near my house and the only access to my backyard is through a narrow walkway. None of those were a problem although I'm sure it made life harder for the guys doing the work.
