When I think of Primark I think of big queues, big crowds, modern stores and cheap clothes but also…read moreclothes on the lower-quality side, mainly down to the price with Primark basically being a clothing version of ALDI. Located on Church Street, it is basically right bang in the heart of the One and the centre of Liverpool so the location here is really good, the store is quite large and is in an old building so is nowhere near as modern on the outside, or even the inside as other Primark stores I have visited including stores in Gateshead, Cardiff, Newcastle and Amsterdam, most of which I have visited in the past and awarded a three-star rating to. A lack of renovation could let the store down more than ever now, following H&M locating into the old BHS unit, with a more modern store as the retailer is similar to Primark so action is needed soon. This branch of Primark in a way reminds me of Southport's store, inside it isn't too impressive or modern - which is a shame and it contradicts what you would expect considering Liverpool is a big city, the second biggest in north-west England. I didn't like this store, not just because of the poor overall feel but it just was really untidy, I lost count of clothes on the floor before even getting to the men's section (the ladies section os on the ground floor), and by the looks of things, it looked like it had been that way for a while and staff were unbothered by it, and not doing anything to change it, making it an unsatisfactory and unpleasant place to shop overall. An untidy, uninspiring store which even lets Primark down, if you compare this to other branches of Primark including those in Gateshead and Amsterdam, which I did like, it looks like a completely different store, mainly down to the overall feel, staff and cleanliness of a store, this isn't a store I can reccomend or justify anything over a one-star rating for on this occasion.

It does tend to attract a lot of students and for those who love a bargain, this is the place to shop. Quality of clothing can be unpredictible but it all depends. If you're fortunate, you may find a garment to last you more than a few years. The store itself is plentiful, serving 5 floors which has something to suit everybody. There is even a homeware section on the top tier. Primark is a shop which you'll either love or hate, and I love it!

There is usually a good range of sizes out on display and if your size isn't there the staff are happy to go and check if they have it in the back, usually returning with the right size for you. They have a nice range of accessories which are of a high quality compared to some of the cheaper high street stores. The staff are friendly and helpful and know what they are talking about when it comes to fashion. Lipsy isn't as cheap as some places but the clothes are of a good quality and they do last for a long time. This is a great shop for something for a special occasion, or just a treat.

I enjoy the ideal of this kind of place as they are trying to make something inaccessible for the average joe accessible and affordable and this is a valued service for a fashion conscious city such as Liverpool. The value here really is good and the quality of the clothes is not to be scoffed at as some of the pieces could be mistaken for designer labels and this is exactly the effect that the stores owners are trying to achieve. This store is smart and classy yet accessible and this is something which is too rare these days and as such this place deserves a nod of recognition.

Considering Zara's pedigree as one of the foremost high street brands of Europe you might expect…read morethe range available here to be a little more stylish. Much of what is available here though seems to be the sort of stuff you might imagine a Spanish gap year hitchhiker to wear; metallic trainers, brightly coloured t-shirts with meaningless slogans and padded gilets (and this apparently is true for both the women's and the men's sections). There are classic styles to be found - tailored jackets and trousers, basic shirts and blouses and a decent enough selection of leather shoes, boots, belts and bags - but these need to be hunted out. Once you find these items though you have the makings of a great work wardrobe. This branch, with women's wear on the ground floor and men's and kid's on the first, is itself spacious and done in nice dark wood but there is a tendency for clothing to be strung on racks with little attention and thrown out on tables in piles (particularly if there happens to be a sale on). The staff are generally a pretty friendly bunch even if at the weekends they're pretty keen to process you through the till quickly. On a final positive note - there are some brilliant fedoras available here. Unfortunately I am cursed with a head like a beachball but I feel some people need to benefit. Wear one for me.

As soon as I approach the first floor (being the men's section), I'm spoilt for choice whether I'm looking for casual or formal wear. Zara doesn't fail to disappoint in terms of variety which is probably why it is so popular with locals and tourists. The store always has customers, even at quiet times which is an encouraging sign. As prices are concerned, they do vary from moderate to high, so it does take some patience to look for quality and value. When you do hit the target though, you'll be certain to add more favourites to your wardrobe (with nothing too flashy or branded that it's going to make you skint).

They sell clothing for larger ladies such as jeans, dresses, underwear, swimwear, tops, suits, jewellery, accessories and outerwear. The items available are all a bit samey. The basic items such as jeans and work trousers are good and fairly inexpensive but there isn't really anything that stands out. The staff are very helpful. When you go to the fitting room to try items on the attendant will take the items off you, lead you to a free fitting room out of the many available, and then advise you to ask them if you need any help. They are happy to bring you more sizes and if the size you need is not in store they will phone round other stores to see if they have it, or they will order it specially for you and contact you when it has arrived. That's because Evans has clothing similar to what you'd expect to find in Next, but for slightly cheaper prices. Starting at size 14 and going up to a 32, this is the place to feel comfortable if you're carrying a few extra pounds and are worried that you'll never get the latest fashions in your size. At the moment the shop is full of florals and nautical clothing, and there are some fab items in the sale too. The shop assistants are nice and friendly and know what they're talking about, and even the security guards understand when you furtively dart inside the door to make sure no one sees you (it's not always 'cool' to shop at oversized clothes stores) Definitely somewhere I'd head after the post-Christmas pounds to stock up on comfy gear until the New Year diet kicks in round about March...

Resurrection has slowly taken over Drome's mantle as Liverpool's number one independent retailer, reflecting the city's changing fashion tastes and as it has done so, steadily expanding its premises and range. The men's fashion primarily falls into two categories of modern, urban wear - what with your hoodies and printed, pop-culture t shirts n that - and vintage clothing - old clothes. Within these there is plenty that can be found for all tastes as long as you are veering towards the casual side of things and like more independent, smaller names. The trainers aren't quite as varied as some other retailers but as the store has recently expanded there's no reason to suggest that Resurrection doesn't have its eyes set on dominating the Liverpool fashion scene completely.

This particular branch has an excellent menswear department with many different vests, and the sales are nothing short of fantastic. I admire All Saints for its quirky design, really not many people can carry it off but it doesn't mean they don't try, and quite frankly I disagree with the idea that everything in the store only suits the long and lean. Different sets offer qualities for different figures, and All Saints has a knack for celebrating this. I'm truly a sucker for it.
