I really appreciated the squeegee with soapy water - I had massacred a ton of bugs on my drive, and needed to clean my windows before continuing. Once the car was full and the windows were clean, I walked into the store to find the ladies room. The store is spacious, with lots of seating (there is some sort of food place within the store...maybe fast food? I didn't really pay attention as I wasn't hungry). I walked to the ladies room - two stalls, clean, however a little dimly lit for my liking. I walked back to the cold section and found a big bottle of water, and checked out. The cashier was very friendly, and I was checked out quickly. Glad to have a safe, clean place to stop and perk back up.

It feels that TA is still a place for truck drivers. There are numerous lanes for diesel and only 4 pumps for regular vehicles. Google led us to what appeared to be... a gas station. At first, I honestly thought Google had finally given up on us after six weeks of road-tripping. I walked inside a little suspicious and confused, wondering if maybe the "ice cream shop" existed only spiritually. But then, tucked inside the convenience store area, there it was: a surprisingly impressive little ice cream counter with a ton of flavors. My husband ordered the salted turtle flavor, and I got a split scoop with chocolate peanut butter and another caramel-and-chocolate flavor that I unfortunately cannot fully remember because apparently I was too busy enjoying it. And honestly? The ice cream was excellent. Creamy, rich, flavorful, and exactly what we needed at the end of a long day on the road. We ended up sitting in the car eating our ice cream in the gas station parking lot like two exhausted travelers who had completely surrendered to the road-trip lifestyle. Somehow, it was perfect. There is something wonderfully peculiar and charming about Ogallala. One minute you are having an accidental comedy routine at dinner, and the next you are discovering genuinely good ice cream hidden inside a gas station convenience store. Road trips are weird like that.
