So, right after the driver made his left turn at the intersection of Belmont Plaza & Fruitville Pike, he announced that the bus was over-heating, and he was going to have to swap busses. Everything went well, and things were to get a bit more interesting. As we pulled into the bus garage on Eric Rd., the outer security gate opened, and as we made our left hand turn in front of the garage, I noticed a brand new bus of a different model, sitting on the side, at the northern-most part of the apron. It was the latest model of Gillig bus, which the RRTA company was testing out. It was just sitting there, so I decided to snap a photo of it. This bus's new number is: '2101'. The numbers of the latest batch of busses which RRTA has acquired, ranges from 1900 - 1911. A few of the main differences between this latest new model bus, is that the front of the bus isn't quite as elongated as the 1900 series, & is much more flat, which I like. I just think it looks a bit better. The second difference of the design is that there is an extended aerodynamic fairing for the batter packs on both sides of the top of the bus, which now, instead of only extending to the top middle of the bus, now extends all the way forward to the very top of the nose of the roof of it. I also agree with the way the new design looks. It doesn't look as much as a dopey design, as the present design of the 1900 series. Koolness! I cannot wait to go for a ride on the new 1000 series! Hey RRTA: Get more of em' in!

This station is simple and does the job. Trains come and get you…read more I highly suggest you get there at least 30 minutes before your train arrives. You will have to walk up two flights of stairs or take an elevator to get to the train tracks. From there you will take a different set of stairs or elevator to get you to the track. But, if you follow the guidelines on when to arrive, you should have no problem and should be on time. One thing about this station is that there is not a real good area to protect you from the elements. There is one enclosed area that has 2-3 heating elements but, the entrance and exit to the area is open so if it is windy it will not protect you from that. There is minimal seating available. It just is not a bells and whistle type of station. But, it does what it needs to do. It is fairly clean, and there is enough parking available. It is easy to get to and a great station for those around who want to avoid taking their car into Philly to catch a train.

It is now required that you go up two flights and over the tracks and around and down to a narrow platform in the middle of the tracks. As a result we missed her train for which we had arrived in plenty of time to get. The old station was great, the new one is awful. I researched the cost of this new ugly station and was surprised to find that it cost $48 Million! (sombody made some money on that one) I would be really annoyed if I were a disabled person or in a wheel chair having to navigate that 3D maze. The old station made sense and was far better. I will never get on or off at this stop again.

I have passed through this station many times but never boarded here until this day. I had a few bags and luggage. The station is not small but ut definitely does not compare to the size of 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. There are several entrances around the perimeter of the station. Luckily I found one that has a ramp as many of the doors have a set of steps to go up and down. The station is very bright with a lot of light coming from an atrium ceiling. There are several staircases and escalators that lead upstairs to the tracks. Announcements are made frequently and loudly. I requested the help of a Red Cap. He was very accommodating to me as I also had a handicap ticket. He took my luggage to the baggage counter and had them checked. The attendant also assisted me when it was time to the tracks via the elevator and directly to my train car. I would gladly use this location any time again in the future.

This station has been renamed to honor former President Joe Biden. Our train departure time was changed only to revert to the original departing time. An announcement was made to make way to the track which was done in a mad rush manner. SMH moment. The train left on time and I was glad to be on my way. Nothing to do with the station, but the train heading to NYC was freezing, loud and uncomfortable. We grabbed seats near the restroom, which unfortunately, had a strong, disgusting floral odor emanating every time the door was left open. A bit of a nightmare. The Cafe club car serving snacks/drinks was a joke. I had to wait so long just to purchase 2 bottles of water with no other customers there! Opposite experience from my morning departure from the Moynihan Train Hall.

New fence along the side parking lot to keep pedestrians from walking across the tracks (which was causing for muddy and at times dangerous situations). Now what I'd like to see done: 1. The station was originally built with a canopy that extended the entire length of the platform. I'd like to see this restored at some point. I'd prefer a business or generous donation from the local community vs. the city paying for it as it's not a high priority. If you step off the train towards the end of the platform and it's raining, you're going to get wet. 2. There is a beautiful station here that is open at limited times. It'd be great if some small business could revive this building and make it useful again. The ticket office needs one small window. I'd say a coffee shop, but Chestnut Hill Coffee and Starbucks make that unnecessary. Anyway, something to add to the life of the stop would be great - Chestnut Hill shops stretch almost all the way to the train station so it's definitely possible to have a successful business here. Parking is readily available, although it's easy to get bottlenecked during rush hour. Also, if you are planning on cutting it close, the conductor often only opens up the train door farthest down the platform. I really don't get this, especially if it's raining or hot. But it can be a good trek down the platform if it's a long train. Overall it's a good stop, although it could definitely use some more work to really make it a Chestnut Hill gem.

Built in 1931 the structure has been holding up pretty well. The interior is comfortable with plenty of amenities. There is a bathroom, benches, water fountain, and a schedule rack. Recently SEPTA crews made their way out to Chestnut Hill East to repair the station canopy roofs, repaint benches, and repaint the platforms. The station looks very sharp. Half hour peak service and hourly off peak service is offered here. Sadly, not much in lines of nearby places to grab coffee or snacks. Germantown Ave. is a 3 minute drive or 5 minute walk, so I'd recommend coming prepared with your own java. However if you'd like to zumba or hit the cycle studio after a train ride from work, there are a few of these businesses directly across the street! Make sure you pay attention to the track your train is pulling off from. There are three separate departure tracks available here. Pro tip: generally the first two cars are the only ones that will be open during off-peak hours, make your way up early so that you can grab a seat!
