Stopped here on the way to the ferry and gosh, my kids loved it. We only had time to do the kids course, which was a bit too small for my 12 year old, but it was perfect for an hour stretch while road tripping. The staff is amazing. I visited WildPlay Elements Parks in Nanaimo. It was a really great experience. I went specifically to do some bungee jumping, which was amazing. However, while there I also tried the Primal Swing and the Zipline tour. All three were a rush! The staff were very friendly and competent. They were great at helping their customers feel safe. The bungee jumps were especially awesome. The only complaint I could make is that bungee jumpers were not reeled back up to the bridge after the jumps. Instead, we were lowered to a raft on the river below, where we were (safely) unhooked from the bungee cord. However, that meant the jumpers now had to climb over a hundred feet of stairs to get back to the top of the canyon. Other than that, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and I'd recommend it to other thrill seekers out there. read more

WildPlay is great for all ages! We visited this park looking for adventure and fun, and that's exactly what we got. Monkido and Primal Swing is so worth a try!! I'm scared of heights so the Monkido really pushed me to my fear. But vini, vidi, vici, I completed it! It really challenges you in many ways. Nonetheless, very fun! The Primal Swing wasn't for me. Personally, I'm not up for that much of a adrenaline, though my friends and boyfriend enjoyed the swing. I'd say this would be a perfect place for a couple who's looking for an adventurous date. The park was nicely kept, and the service was good. The staff was all fun and open which made our experience nice. The price was very reasonable for the Monkido and Primal Swing. All in all, it was the highlight in our BC vacation! read more

This place is AMAZING!! While on Vancouver Island, my family and I searched up this place when looking for things to do. I'm so glad we decided to come! We did the Monkido package which consists of over 40 obstacles + ziplines--I think they told me there are about 14 ziplines. The obstacles were so much fun! I must admit, some were pretty challenging. My family and I had a wonderful time. There is so much variety in obstacles and some were really high up on the trees. The ones that were really high were my fave because I knew that there would be a longer zip line to take us down. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone visiting Vancouver Island and is looking for something outdoors to do. Being able to climb through all the trees was a great way to stay out of the direct sunlight. The Monkido consisted of 3 large sets of obstacle courses; after the second one, you can go down and take a water break. The equipment and obstacles felt secure and I felt safe. The staff was friendly and informative. The only pitfall to this place is that they don't have an eatery. They only have snacks in the front, but by the time we finished the obstacle course we were starving. Review 57/100 for 2016 read more

You won't find a better place to jump off a bridge than here in Nanaimo. The staff are incredibly friendly and calm - even when you're in hysterics. My fear of heights was tested as I did the Dragonfly Zipline, but the guides (Courtney, Dan, and David) were very good at reassuring my and patient. My only complaint was that there wasn't as much line to zip on as I'd wanted. Then I decided to fall off the bridge. The two jump masters were amazing, they were very good at explaining what would be going on and what to do. As I stood at the edge of the platform hyperventilating and in hysterics, I was gently guided to fall. Later on I was told by one of the staff that my scream sounded like I was getting murdered. When we hang out on the island... chances are i'm going to try and chuck you off a bridge. Fun Jody fact - once upon a time, in a land far far away (2006) I worked at this here spot. Yup. If you have a shaky, slightly out of focus video of your bungy jumping experience from the summer of '06, chances are, I'm responsible. They let the lady with the tremor handle camera work and still get 5 stars... so you know they're doing pretty much everything else right. I started back when this was the "Bungy Zone" - before the element park existed - and in case you were wondering, yes... the interview process includes jumping... and yes, I swore like a sailor and screamed to high heaven. It doesn't matter how many times I fling myself off this bridge - I will scream like a banshee each and every second of it. I have the funky perspective of not only having watched the element park be built but also throwing back a few beers with the crew that throws people off bridges every summer. And I trust these people with my life. They know what they are doing and they put the time, money and energy into keeping people safe. I'm a bungy girl. Fav way to be flung off the bridge? Backwards, held out over the ledge by a rope and dropped at random. Least favourite? The "death drop" - standing backwards, backwards hop off the ledge... you watch it pass you while you free fall and then spin around. Never... Again. This is only allowed by the most seasoned of jumpers and for good reason. Holy hell scary. But I love a good forwards leap - and for your first time, it's something you'll never forget. If they still do it, do a water touch. Holy heck. That moment is ridiculous and amazing. But if jumping off a bridge attached to a big ass elastic band around your ankles isn't your style - go for the Primal Swing: 140km an hour; 2 g forces of gravity, REALLY awesomely big swing set. It's the "dip your toes into" bridge fling and it's a hoot and a half. Though I prewarn you on the extreme wedgie that will follow. Wear comfy pants. As to the elements park? This "obstacle course in the trees" is generally picked over the jump/swing extreme sports because it is thought to be more tame. But i'm sorry - the last course is WAY harder then jumping off a bridge. You'll sweat and swing; you'll jump from ledge to tiny tiny ledge; you will be VERY VERY high in the air. If you get through the treed elements park, the WHOLE thing - go jump off that bridge. You can do it. You are already a beast. This place is a total blast and every time they open a new location, I give them a little shimmy for the good memories. It's a once in a lifetime.... or a lot in a lifetime experience. So if you have an afternoon and the money to spend - go jump off a bridge! read more

Wild WAIT - spent 2+ hours waiting to start each course. Staff nowhere to be seen. They recently have changed from 40 minute gaps between groups to less than 20 and it shows. I went with a group to Wildplay. We had a fantastic time. I was worried that the kids would be bored (my son is 7 and quite athletic) but the kids Monkido tree course was just the right difficulty for them. We loved the Monkido course. My daughter (11 years old) my wife and I spent 2 wonderful hours together. Afterwards I even bungy jumped which was an intense experience. The staff clearly love their jobs and made the whole experience special. read more

Wow, what an experience. Wildplay Nanaimo has such and outstanding site. The grounds are tidy and the scenery is beautiful. I found my self walking up the bungy bridge scared, but when i got to the top the staff was funny and helpful to take my mind of of things (Bryan,Steve and Ariel). Our family has done the Monkido rope course twice over the past two years and it is always the highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island. You get a short training session on a mini course and then you can do the actual course. The course is split into levels based on height/age so if you have younger kids, they may not be able to do the entire course until they are older. If they are younger you also have to go up there with them and be spaced between them for safety/assistance of kids reasons. Older kids can do all four courses and the long zip line on the Black course is wonderfully fun. This is a great way to challenge yourself, face your fear of heights (if you have one), stretch yourself and get quite a work out. Fabulous sense of accomplishment when you are done! The staff provides tips on how to get through an obstacle you are stuck on, and I always felt safe despite being quite high up off the ground at times.
