This was my local park growing up. My mother used to collect me from school at lunchtime and my sisters and I would have a picnic with her in Wilder Park. It is a large, beautiful park with sunny and shaded parts, walking path, gorgeous trees, and right next to the library, art museum, and conservatory. The new play equipment looks great, although out of service currently due to COVID. We drove by this park today, on our way to wave at my parents through their front room window. Perhaps when the COVID crisis is done, I'll have a nice picnic with my mom again at Wilder Park.

Lots of things walk around wilder Park even large coyotes

Great park to walk around and enjoy the day. Home of the Wilder Mansion, Lazzardo Museum, Elmhurst Art Museum and Elmhurst Library. The conservatory is also located here and has a beautiful gazebo for weddings in the flower gardens. There's so much to see Nice playground for children.

This public park Yogi deems WP the perfect place to plop your pic-a-nic basket and bask in the shade of plentiful pines with your boo-boo bear. On this particularly beautiful Elmhurst afternoon, the gentleman caller and I decided to heed the ranger warnings and NOT feed the bears... though we did pack a few morsels (care of Zenwich) for ourselves. We eyed several shaded spots on the somewhat sprawling Wilder Park lawn and decided upon a pretty central one amidst a gaggle of very climbable ginkos. With water fountains, horseshoe area, bike trails, art museum, Wilder mansion, picnic tables, lapidary art museum, Wilder Park playground, Wedding photo-shoot, tennis courts, and the cleanest, nicest public park bathrooms I have ever seen just a stone's throw away. I had a handy blanket in my car to make our home-base with, so we set up shop, ate our sammies, cloud watched, napped, joked and literally shot the breeze for what seemed like hours... and then, as the sun started to set, we realized that it actually had been hours (3.5) and that we'd pretty much just wasted the day away in Wilder Park. Wonderfully wasted, that is. The only thing that could've made the day any more glorious would have been a bit more breeze so we could've taken advantage of the giant kites I'd come prepared with. Oh well. Till we meet again, WP.

A mom-of-two's (a toddler and preschooler) straight-forward review -…read more I am uncertain of the official name. It seems like the two names, Oakbrook Terrace and Heritage Park, are used interchangeably. Nonetheless, this was a random discovery when I was browsing Google Maps for playgrounds to check out and it is a definite keeper! The park is quietly tucked within a neighborhood. So far we have visited twice in the morning and there were very little people to share the space with. Although I would like the social factor and enjoy the bustle with running and laughing children, but the quietness is particularly beneficial to my firstborn's short attention span. It allows her to stay focused on her tennis lessons with her daddy. The tennis courts are well maintained and within walking distance of the playground. It is easy for us to toggle between the two. The playground appears to be recently renovated. There is a small section for toddlers and larger section for older kids. The space is well divided so the younger children can stay in their area without feeling intimidated. The flooring for both sections is a mix with some parts having wood chips and others having rubber. The rubbery ground is a uphill and down slope climb and it was a great way for my girls to run up and down to expense their endless energy. Otherwise, there is also the typical playground equipment such as slides, climbing ropes, ladders and spirals, and monkey bars. Side note - This playground is incredibly close to Frankie's Deli which is a favorite of ours!

They have…read morea normal deal of $14 for lunch, batting cages tokens and miniature golf which is a pretty darn good meal in my opinion. My Groupon deal was $14 for all of that for two people - 12 batting cage tokens (12 pitches with each token) which is normally $1 per token or $5 for 6 tokens. 2 hot dog combos with chips and drinks normally $4 each, and two rounds of mini golf which is a $10 value. My friend and I went on Tuesday when it was 100 degrees out so we were really feeling the heat but I had so much fun! It was fantastic to have it all right there in one place plus their concession stand had a decent variety of drink choices and a few flavors of Dippin Dots. When we were ready for our hot dogs, we sat in a nice shaded picnic table area. All the young guys & girls working at the Hub were helpful & friendly and didn't have the lackadaisical attitude sometimes displayed by teens in their summer jobs. The Hub has a spray pool but we didn't go in there - it was filled with kids & their weekday babysitters. The batting cages were great - 4 cages with different speeds of softball & baseball pitches. Please note, I own at softball. :) The mini golf was a fun time but not the fanciest mini golf I've ever been to, pretty plain. I think they could amp it up just a tad to make for a bit more fun! All in all, I had a great time at The Hub and wouldn't hesitate to go back!

You could spend an entire day here! The family went on a Sunday to use our Groupon. We did the mini-golf which was just fine. The course doesn't really have a theme but there are lots of butterfly plants and lots of butterflies. We also visited the batting cages. My five year old had a blast. It seems you can also rent out the space for a picnic. There was a large church congregation having a picnic that day. They also have sports fields for football and whatnot.

Parking was a little challenging during my late April visit with all the beautiful flowers in bloom, but it was well worth parking a few blocks away and walking over for the experience. Scattered throughout the park are plenty of benches, a scenic lookout area, iron deer statue, and more. A stroll around the park is super relaxing here since you're surrounded by plenty of colors and pleasant aromas. Definitely a must visit for any tulip or lilac lover. Worth a special trip due to the quality of the park and the beautiful views.

And we had great sunny warm weather in mid-May 2026. But because of the record April showers peak bloom time was 1-2 weeks earlier this year. Watch their Instagram for updates! This park was designed by Jens Jensen (Central Park, Humboldt Park), and it shows from its winding pathways to separate elevated area that proved a perfect picture perch for local prom kids. Ample signage of lilacs, flowers and trees helps with ID. You gotta visit once in your lifetime during peak lilac bloom, and its worthy of strolls all year round.

This review isn't about amenities--it's about safety and accountability…read more There has been a longstanding, repeated issue involving a member who has engaged in inappropriate and harassing behavior toward underaged lifeguards over multiple years. According to staff reports and community awareness, these concerns have been raised more than once and are not new. What's deeply troubling is the pattern of response. Instead of a permanent resolution, the approach has reportedly been temporary suspensions followed by reinstatement--after which similar concerns continue to surface. If accurate, that is not a meaningful safeguard but rather a cycle. When an organization is aware of repeated allegations involving minors and continues to allow the same individual back into that environment, it raises serious questions about judgment, oversight, and priorities. At a minimum, it suggests a failure to put adequate protections in place for staff. This is not about one incident--it is now a repeated pattern with clear evidence that the executive director and board do not care about the safety of the young women they employ. Anyone considering employment here, or parents with kids working here, should be asking very direct questions about how harassment is addressed and what protections actually exist in practice. The parl district's mandated sexual harassment training for their staff while doing nothing to protect them from harassment from their precious paying members. Until there is clear accountability and transparency, this is a concern the community should take seriously.
