Tons of equipment to choose from in a bright, open space. Some regulars you can get to know and learn techniques from. CONS: Pool area feels too "open". Don't need peep windows all around the pool. I felt weird swimming in there so I never did. Close it off. Management change up/corporate vibe. Don't let you even hold your account for a month now (even though they used to). It's a pricey, luxury gym with clients that pay more to get more so making people jump through tons of hoops to hold a month for travel, work, etc doesn't gel with that vibe. If you give a months notice this should allow plenty of time to adjust staffing. You have to pay extra for a lot of stuff, so in order to use a lot of what really makes a gym like this worth the extra $ in the first place, you have pay EVEN MORE. Otherwise you are mostly utilizing equipment, classes, and such that you can get at other gyms for way less.

We had registered online for their green dot lesson series for beginners, and selected the dates of classes we would attend. I even got a confirmation email, but on the first day of lessons we showed up and they didn't have my son on the list. They told us that the registration system sometimes doesn't work and that the best way to be registered is to have a staff member do it. So we had to leave (no instructor was there) and call to schedule later. Unfortunately, two additional times we showed up only to find out that his lesson was canceled without us knowing. Both times we had confirmation emails that the class was happening, and both times we showed up to nothing - and unfortunately today, no one was at the facility at all, so there wasn't even anybody to talk to about our issue. (The gate to the courts was wide open though, yikes) Unfortunately, when you have issues like this (or need to reschedule) you can't reach anyone. When you call and try to leave a message, the machine cuts you off before you can finish speaking after only 5 or 10 seconds, and if you email them, no one ever replies to you. So your only recourse is to call and call and call until you finally reach someone. I can't recommend the business to any parent; logistics are critical, and this place unfortunately didn't deliver.

Old Weight Room has a piece of equipment thats within the 36" boundaries as per code. Notified several employees concerning this half a dozen times. There answer was a lie that customers are moving the equipment They are very much aware of the issue and to include the Jacksonville Fire Department.

First and foremost we are a member-driven organization, but more than that we are a place where our members can come to enjoy their time with friends and family in a safe, relaxed and fun environment. At the "V" we consider ourselves more than a pool; it is really a place in the neighborhood where our member families can enjoy the summer! Just like any organization, we have some things that require maintenance like the pool, the grounds and our clubhouse. Over the past 2 years, we needed to put in place a "special assessment" that would allow us not only to improve the pool facilities, but to enhance the experience of our club through a renovated pool house, improved landscaping to our grounds and a clean and safe pool. I would encourage any existing, new or future members to come and see the architectural plans we will be executing on our pool house this year, they are remarkable! I think that you will find as although we have a focused improvement plan on the above areas, we also continue to focus on improving the overall experience for our member families. The "V" has a long standing reputation as a positive environment in our community and for our member families, we will continue to grow and foster this reputation. We realize that what we provide may not appeal to everyone but also know that the our communal grill area, scenic grounds, competitive swim team, social activities for both adults and kids, affordability and general fellowship do appeal to many families in our community. I was a member as a little kid and now have the tradition continuing with my children. My kids…read morelove spending time at the V. There's always neighbor kids around to play with. Never need a play date when the weather is nice. It's old fashioned fun. The nasty comments on here are of people that want to imagine that the VFC should be a country club. It's a privately funded and run by neighborhood families. We enjoy our time spent there and we are building lifelong memories for our children.

A mom-of-two's (a toddler and preschooler) straight-forward review -…read more Pros: 1) The playground is vast with various activities that applies to younger and older children - climbing ropes, bridge, rock climbing wall, various slides, zip line, monkey bars, etc. My younger daughter is 2.5 years old and love walking across the bridge. There are ropes to hold to but the little daredevil in her would just run across so it is important to be watchful of the child and be sure they won't trip and fall through the ropes. 2) The whole playground has a rubbery ground so it is very comfortable and safe. 3) There is a splash pad in between the toddler and older children sections. I am uncertain when it actually turns on. We have been twice, once at 9 AM and a second time at 3:30 PM. It was on in the afternoon and several kids were running in and out of the splash pad. It's a great option to have when it's hot and sunny out. 4) There are six tennis courts nearby and this works out perfectly for our preschooler to squeeze in a tennis session with her daddy before or after the playgrounds. Cons: 1) Not a con at all - But the playground is so vast that I can barely capture the whole frame in one picture!

It seems like the two names, Oakbrook Terrace and Heritage Park, are used interchangeably. Nonetheless, this was a random discovery when I was browsing Google Maps for playgrounds to check out and it is a definite keeper! The park is quietly tucked within a neighborhood. So far we have visited twice in the morning and there were very little people to share the space with. Although I would like the social factor and enjoy the bustle with running and laughing children, but the quietness is particularly beneficial to my firstborn's short attention span. It allows her to stay focused on her tennis lessons with her daddy. The tennis courts are well maintained and within walking distance of the playground. It is easy for us to toggle between the two. The playground appears to be recently renovated. There is a small section for toddlers and larger section for older kids. The space is well divided so the younger children can stay in their area without feeling intimidated. The flooring for both sections is a mix with some parts having wood chips and others having rubber. The rubbery ground is a uphill and down slope climb and it was a great way for my girls to run up and down to expense their endless energy. Otherwise, there is also the typical playground equipment such as slides, climbing ropes, ladders and spirals, and monkey bars. Side note - This playground is incredibly close to Frankie's Deli which is a favorite of ours!

This review isn't about amenities--it's about safety and accountability…read more There has been a longstanding, repeated issue involving a member who has engaged in inappropriate and harassing behavior toward underaged lifeguards over multiple years. According to staff reports and community awareness, these concerns have been raised more than once and are not new. What's deeply troubling is the pattern of response. Instead of a permanent resolution, the approach has reportedly been temporary suspensions followed by reinstatement--after which similar concerns continue to surface. If accurate, that is not a meaningful safeguard but rather a cycle. When an organization is aware of repeated allegations involving minors and continues to allow the same individual back into that environment, it raises serious questions about judgment, oversight, and priorities. At a minimum, it suggests a failure to put adequate protections in place for staff. This is not about one incident--it is now a repeated pattern with clear evidence that the executive director and board do not care about the safety of the young women they employ. Anyone considering employment here, or parents with kids working here, should be asking very direct questions about how harassment is addressed and what protections actually exist in practice. The parl district's mandated sexual harassment training for their staff while doing nothing to protect them from harassment from their precious paying members. Until there is clear accountability and transparency, this is a concern the community should take seriously.

They took down the posters re: fitness room etiquette a few years ago. So, now members listen to there programs & talk on the phone all the time. My purpose is to exercise while I listen to music or a podcast, read a book. Hard to do with the noise from their phones.
