They provide a wide variety of classes for all different skill levels which a greatly appreciated. They have great amenities too such as a sauna, a steam room, a pool, and a hot tub. Wall Climbing - Came here with a Groupon to try out their wall climbing (valid Tuesdays or Thursdays). I signed in at the front desk and the receptionist escorted me to the wall climbing area since it was a little tricky to find. You have to go down a couple of hallways, down the stairs and look for an inconspicuous door. When you are upstairs, there's a glass window that lets you look down into the wall climbing area. First off, this is not the most sophisticated climbing facility, but it's decent for what it is. It's like the diner of climbing walls rather than a 4-star restaurant. Once we arrived in the climbing room it was smaller than I imagined, but still accommodates about 8 climbers comfortably. There was one child climbing while her family of 4 sat against the wall and watched. The wall is not that tall, only about 2 stories high (20 ft). There's a couple of private bathrooms near the climbing area that you can use to change clothes. I had a backpack with me, which I felt safe leaving on the floor against the wall since I can see it while I climb. The couple of teenagers working the room were nice and friendly. They will provide you with a hardness and shoes if needed, then they become your belayer as you climb the wall. Pricing is not bad. Equipment is included in the price: Members $8 and Non-members $12. About a week ago I would have given this place a 4 out of 5, until I was so rudely treated by the staff. After playing 3 times a week for a couple months, I went to play at 8PM on court #1. Me and my mother saw a group tennis lesson of around 12 kids and 2 or 3 pro's (non of them wearing masks). The prior month there the rule was everyone wear masks up until you get on the court (since tennis is a socially distant sport). Around 8:30 the tennis pro from court 3, inturepted our game to mask shame us when she was 2 courts apart. Now I encourage mask wearing, I was simply not aware of the rules since this lady let 12 kids play with no masks and singled me and my mother out. It would have been real nice if someone on the staff politely notified us of the change of policy, and enforced ti to everyone around, not just me and my mother playing 2 courts away. I cancelled my membership, I told my friends to cancel there's as well. The lady on court #3 from 8-9PM on 11/17/20 singled us out and shamed us when we had no idea the rules just changed. I cannot believe the lack of educate, professionalism, and equality at this low end tennis club. I would love to speak to a manager, I left early cancelled my membership after they stole my $30 for the hour for the court. TRUST ME DO NO GO HERE!!!!!!!! I used to be a member of Courts Plus because it was the only facility close that had indoor tennis courts. My son played tennis there at least 4 days a week with a highly qualified coach. The tennis program management decided to get rid of the coach because of politics. I have seen over the years at least 6 highly trained coaches leave or get fired by this management team. Now there is only one coach left who can actually be considered a true pro. Needless to say, I pulled my son from this facility because they do not care about the tennis community nor do they care about keeping the pros that are qualified to teach anyone from children to adults. If you want your child to progress in tennis and play at the high school and college level I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

A friend of mine had a Groupon deal for rock climbing here so we came out last Saturday morning not knowing what to expect. When we pulled up to the building, we looked at each other in disbelief, "THIS is it? It looks like an office building!" When we walked inside, we came up to a reception counter and signed up to do the rock climbing. No ID was required, nor did we have to fill out any forms or listen to someone tell us how to do it. Sweet! All we had to do was navigate through winding hallways and down some flights of stairs to the rock climbing room. On the way, we passed a bunch of rooms that I assume were for physical therapy and smaller classes. Most places I've seen with rock climbing have a wall or two to climb. This place had an entire room to climb! It was slightly intimidating but I wasn't afraid of a challenge. It was actually my first time rock climbing, but the guy in the room was very easy-going and explained anything that I needed to know (which wasn't much). Since it was just my friend and I plus one other boy in the room, our turns came quickly. Once other people started arriving, we had to wait a little bit longer (but our arms needed the rest!) until more staff showed up. By the time we left, there were about three staff in the room and eight people who wanted to climb. Not bad. I can't speak for the rest of the facilities, but I enjoyed rock climbing! read more

Friendly staff, clean gym and annual upgrades (facility and equipment)! It is pricey at $30-40 a month per membership. Membership includes gym use, pool/hot tub, complimentary lockers w/ keys and lots of group fitness classes. So far piyo, cxworks (30 min core class) and body pump are some of my favorites. Recent upgrades include 10 new True treadmills with TV, fan and lots of track view options! Courts Plus really does have a great selection of cardio equipment...the stair climbers and elipticals are great too! Free weight area could be a little larger or it might be a useful future upgrade to add mirrors and expand stretching area. Minus one star for not including at least an hour or two of free rock climbing, access to tennis courts and racquetball courts in the membership fee each month! read more

I was a guest of a member today to participate in the weekly Friday 1:30-3:00 Pickle Ball class and I had a blast! $6 for members, $10 for non-members for the 90-minute class which is held in one of the clean, modern and air-conditioned tennis courts. The instructor was excellent and geared the lessons to all experience levels which was great since a few players were quite good and then there were me and my 86-year old dad trying pickle ball for the first and second time! The facility is older but well maintained. Locker rooms including showers were clean and private. Front desk staff were great. Guy was really nice and welcoming. I didn't check out the pool this visit so I'll be sure to set aside some pool time during my next visit. Members get free passes for guests- 2 per month I think- which is awesome since my usual fitness club charges $20 to bring a guest. So my dad and I plan to return for another pickle ball lesson soon. Free lot parking. No cafe but a few vending machines. read more

The tennis program years ago was amazing when real pro's taught here. Now it just a bunch of non talented players who can play who are not certified . It sad to see the kids program all go to different local clubs. The management has chased all the good pros away from Chuck to Coach Van. The Management is a joke but it's an indoor court so its needed for winter when I play in the leagues. The leagues are also in despair. Used to be good now not so much. We just learned we met our Fitness Incentive Goals in 2019. We even get a membership rebate for month of dues. We are delighted and have really enjoyed our time at Courts Plus. We joined in September 2019 and love the variety of classes, working out on our own, the pool, hot tub and saunas, and the two complimentary visits with a trainer. We have also enjoyed meeting other members, and the staff is always helpful and seems happy to see us. I walked into Courts Plus about one year ago looking to check it out. I was given a tour of the entire facility and was in shock by how many things this place had to offer for a park district. There is a hot tub, sauna, indoor track, tons of tennis courts, and even a rock-climbing wall - all in addition to the normal machines/equipment a gym would be expected to have. After falling in love with the place, they offered me the first 2 weeks free to see if I felt like this would be a good place for me. I used to workout at the Oakbrook Terrace Park District Fitness Center and they did not have anything like this to offer to potential new members. It's tough to find a new gym especially if you like one that you have already been going to so offering the first two weeks free is a really generous and gracious way to get people to join your membership. After my two weeks ended, I was hooked. I signed up for their monthly membership and took full advantage. My membership additionally included 2 free personal training sessions and free enrollment to mostly any of the instructed classes that they offered. While a lot was included in the membership, the prices were still a little high in my opinion for a park district gym. It was nearly $60 per month for an individual membership. I also had to pay a $30 enrollment fee which was a deal that they had going on at the time. I think that the normal enrollment fee is $100. I was told that I could earn back my $30 enrollment fee by attending the 2 free personal training sessions and checking into the facility a certain amount of times in a specific time frame. I liked that you were able to make some of the money back that was spent also while using that as a motivation to go to the gym more. After many visits, I did end up getting my $30 enrollment fee back and they used it as credit towards one of the monthly bills. After spending about one year here, I have to say that one of the best parts about being a member is the sense of community. Dan Roelofs, their Member Services Specialist, gave me the tour of the place on my very first day and has remembered me every single time since. He has gone out of his way to always say hi to me and has helped answer any questions that I've had. In addition to Dan, all the staff at Courts Plus are great. I have found myself visiting with many staff members and having lengthy conversations with them. I love talking with new people so this was a big plus for me, especially because I work in a super small office all day. I also spent a lot of time sitting in the sauna after workouts. There always seemed to be the same familiar faces in there and everyone was always so friendly. If Courts Plus couldn't get any better, another weird perk is that they also had a growing garden of fresh spices in their lobby area that they would grow and allow members to take home with them - always thought that was a cool idea. Overall, I would have to say that I loved my time spent at Courts Plus. The facility is clean, staff is welcoming, and they offer a wide variety of activities to take part of. One of the only things that annoyed me during my time here is that many people did not seem to respect those running on the indoor track. I ended up becoming a serious runner while I was there and ran on the indoor track every single day while training for an upcoming race. Every time I ran I was trying to beat my time from the day before. The set-up of the gym is not the best for those wanting to use the indoor track, but some people just did not follow the rules that are clearly stated alongside the track. I would be running as hard and as fast as I possibly could, and people would walk in the running lane that I am in and clog my way to get around them. At the speed that I was running, I would sometimes accidentally run into other members who were walking. I would say if you are solely looking to join this place to run on the indoor track like me, I would consider looking elsewhere as what I mentioned above became a big annoyance over time. However, I will say, that throughout all my time there, I seemed to be one of the only people who would run on that track for long periods of time. In closure, I highly recommend everyone giving this place a try. It is truly a hidden gem in a great location and with amazing perks. Even if you are unsure, take advantage of the free two-week program. The only reason I left this place is because I moved to a new apartment in Elmhurst and they have a gym in the complex. Hoping that I will return here sometime in the future as I truly enjoyed all my time spent here. read more

"WE'RE SO STUPID!" That's all I could think when I went into Courts Plus for a tour. Fiance and I moved to Villa Park last July and were in search for a gym. Somehow, we managed to miss Courts Plus completely. I really don't know how. Maybe the name threw us off, thinking it was just courts. So idiotically, we signed at X-Sport, which was a terrible life decision because I loathe that place. Every time we go to X-Sport, we leave pissed off because of how awful it is. We finally had enough and said, "Hey, let's check out this Courts Plus place." So glad we did. If you've never been, you get to go on a tour and then receive a free guest pass to try it out. The facility is very nice and clean and the staff seems very helpful. Everywhere I looked, there was someone on hand in case a guest needed something. There is a 4-lane track (two walking lanes, two running lanes) and the cardio and weight machines are in the center. It was about 6pm (peak time) and we saw a bunch of machines still open. We asked if this was "busy" and she said yes. Hooray! X-Sport only has two steppers which are always taken. Courts Plus had about 5 of the stair kind and then a few older models which are the ones I really like. In the corners around the track there are various weight machines sprinkled about. One corner has free weights, another has some different arm machines, and so on. My favorite part of Courts Plus: a stretching area. It's near the front and fits a good amount of people. There's mats, medicine balls, inflatable ab balls (I don't know what they're officially called). It's awesome! At X-Sport, we struggled to find a place to stretch because there was no room whatsoever. To have an area designated for stretching is incredible. One of the other things we noticed is how quiet it is. The crowd here is probably middle-aged, but with younger people as well. No sounds of grunting or weight-slamming, or crappy club music. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves and is there to work out. Thank God. The rest of the facility has a 5 lap pool, hot tub, sauna, rooms for classes, rock climbing room, tennis courts, and racquetball courts. You have to pay a small fee to use to the courts, but that's just like any other place that has indoor courts, so I'm okay with that. Besides, you would just use outdoor courts in the warm weather anyway. After we tried out the place with a quick workout, we decided that we're really impressed with everything. Courts Plus actually makes me WANT to go work out. They have plenty of machines and the machines are all updated. We're going to sign up for the $60 30-day membership just to be sure we really do like it. That sounds like a lot, but if you decide to do the yearly, you can apply the $60 that you already paid to the total amount. Also, if you get a yearly, you are still charged monthly, so if you decide to quit, you're not locked into a contract and lose your money. I'm still really mad that we didn't realize this great workout place was so close to us but I'm happy to know about it now. read more

The place is nice, the equipment is very good, and there is a nice pool. If you are going here to work out, you will be pleased. If you are going here to play tennis you will be very dissapointed. There are only 6 tennis courts, and they are constantly being used for group lessons for little kids (that's where the money is, and that is all the instructors are barely qualified for). Everytime I wanted to reserve a tennis court, the only time available was 9pm! If you are looking to take lessons get your wallet out, because they are very expensive. I would not mind paying $80+ an hour for a tennis lesson if the instructor was a qualified teaching tennis pro, but the instructors here are terrible. It basically boils down to this: If you want to work out for $50 to $60 a month dues, ok. If you want to play tennis, or take lessons here, NO WAY. read more

Have been a member at Courts for the last 3 or so years. It's a very family friendly establishment with kids programs and day care (actually babysitting while you workout). They have your basic weight machines, free weights, cardio equipment, track, pool, whirlpool, steam room, showers, locker room, tennis and racquetball courts. I also believe there is a climbing wall that I haven't seen. The group exercise classes contain a nice variety and massage therapy and personal training prices are fair for members. What I love most is that people who work out here aren't Jersey Shore meathead lookalikes like I used to see at Bally's and Export. Yay, I can actually go to a gym without getting hit on! Only complaints- as big as this facility is, the main workout floor can get pretty cramped at peak hours, and there is a sign up sheet for the treadmills at those times. Also they have rags and spray bottles to wipe down the equipment after you use them. Please invest in the disposable wipes people!!! I hate wiping down the equipment with those old rags- you're probably spreading more germs. read more

I work out here before work every morning since it is very close to my work. I live approximately 30 miles from Elmhurst, so it's a hike to go on my days off. Today I was compelled to work out and figured it would be cheaper to drop $5 and go to my local park district for a workout than drive 30 miles to Elmhurst. Big mistake! By going to the park district gym by my house made me realize even more how great Courts Plus is. I've been working out here since August of 2010 and I love it. I go work out in the morning (peak hours) and there is never a problem getting on any of the machines. They have an abundance of cardio equipment (5-6 stair masters, approx. 15 ellipticals, maybe between 15-20 treadmills and maybe 10 or so exercise bikes.) They have free weights and machines, plus a running track that has four lanes. The staff here is very friendly and for the most part the members are friendly and nice (except for the old guy in the locker room who accused me of stealing his size 6 shower shoes when I wear a size 13. Whatever, dude!) They also have tennis courts, an aerobics studio, a nice pool and a hot tub. The place is run by the Elmhurst Park District and it is very well maintained. read more

The 100 days for $100 option is amazing in the summer when I'm home from college, especially considering it has everything I could want in a gym with a non-intimidating atmosphere. Plus the included classes are what actually gets me there most days. You can also download their app to gain points towards free stuff. I go here because it is convenient for me given where I live. I think the gym is very pricey for a park district - they recently raised rates to almost $60/month for a single member. Literally every gym nearby is less expensive than that...this is a park district so why so expensive? I like that there are always treadmills and machines to use, but the gym equipment is fairly basic (treadmills are difficult to adjust speeds quickly - you have to increase to the speed you want manually by pushing the speed button a lot which is annoying) and the machines are very crowded together - especially the weight areas. I wish the gym would get rid of some of the unnecessary weight machines and space things out a bit better. For example, if you plan on running around the running track (which is very small), you will end up bumping into other people in the weight areas who are standing in the running track area because there is no where else for them to stand. Just wish it was more spaced out/less crowded with the weight equipment - or how about set up a separate room for weights like some gyms do? The locker rooms are okay - nothing fancy, but they work and seem secure. I have never had an issue. I like the classes they offer and they have some very good instructors, so that keeps me coming back. I wish they would prohibit teenagers from participating in the classes though, as the teens do not take the classes (or the gym rules about the running track) seriously. The gym also has a pool and hot tub and sauna. Seems like a place with a lot of avid tennis players, which takes up a lot of the space of the facility. Kind of a maze to walk through. Overall, any investment in your health is a good investment. read more

The park district keeps the place immaculately clean, which is nice, but the gym certainly needs a facelift, as it's probably looked the same since 1986. Every now and then, they funnel in a new machine or two that's new and exciting, but the floor generally consists of your standard cardio and weight machines. This is all encircled by an indoor track which overlooks a pool. There are obviously tennis courts and group exercise rooms in the facility. What's nice is that the group classes are fun and exciting, especially 20-20-20 with Ron and Zumba with Lucy. By and large the demographic here is middle aged suburbia, with the elderly as a close second. Don't expect to see any hot Jersey Short wannabes getting there GYM/tan/laundry in here. read more

Getting back to it....always a good thing. The pool is crystal clear and great for swimming. The water is only 3 feet deep across the entire pool. Just wish there were more lanes. You have to pick your times to come here..... as it can get busy starting around 4:30. The walking machines can have a waiting list. The group exercise area has been explored a bit by me. I'm a personal trainer but I don't work here (even though it would be a GREAT gig) and I love this place! The people are nice and they actually smile and HELP. I'm not a member but I pay the $13 daily fee because I can't get enough of their classes. They have a huge variety that change up every couple months. Everything from a cardio combat class to yoga. Not to mention this place is huge and has a million reasons to be there. This is probably the best gym I've ever worked out at and has the friendliest community and members. It's worth it if you're thinking about getting a membership. The only reason I don't have one is because the initiation fee is quite expensive (currently $250 bucks!) Ouch. Tried out the gym today and really liked it! Some of the perks that I'm so glad they offer that makes it worth it! 1.) Ice Water ~ not just like cold water but ice and water in the cafe. Oh Yeah! 2.) Locker service~ no more lugging around heavy locks and trying to remember the combination. 3.)Daycare for the kiddies~ 2 hours of uninterrupted working out unless your kiddie has a poopy emergency. 4.) Plenty of machines and a track, no waiting for a machine. 5.) Rock climbing to keep my teenagers busy. Priceless!!!! read more

I typically work out at Courts Plus 6 days a week. I've been a member for years but in January, 2009 I decided to lose 15 pounds and as a result went from 161 to 146 and a 38" waist to a 33 - 34". My favorite days are Tuesdays & Thursdays when I arrive at 7:00 a.m., burn 400+ calories on the treadmill (40 minutes) and another 100 on the ellipticles. (I never could spell that word!) I then go to spinning class and, weather permitting, play nine holes of golf shortly after spinning. Courts Plus is the greatest facility of its kind anywhere and updates its equipment in a timely manner. The spinning instructors are especially pleasant and professional. At 79, I'm pleased to have such a fine facility (at a reasonable cost) in Elmhurst. read more

This club has EVERYTHING you are looking for! I'm primarily a swimmer, so many other clubs were eliminated because they either had no pool, or were cloudy from chemicals and the smell knocked you over. This pool is pristine! Using ultraviolet technology to kill bacteria, the same process I used to sanitize my equipment when I was a nail technician! The hot tub is a generous size and has a strong jet to really get at those sore aches and pains! I can't wait to explore the variety of classes included in the membership fee. Definitely something for everyone! Personal trainers give 2 free lessons to familiarize you with the equipment and help you set your goals! The staff are friendly and informative, and always coming up with new ideas to keep their members happy. A huge thank you to the people behind the COURTS PLUS PERKS program! I'v been a member of several different gyms and none are as great as Courts Plus. This gym really does have everything and does not have the overly intimidating gym feel like xsport or other trendy gyms. Gym is clean with plenty of weight machines and cardio equipment. It also has a walking track, pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam rooms, indoor tennis courts, and handball courts. The only thing I wish they would build would be an indoor basketball court. Resident monthly rate is $42. Not sure what non-resident pay is but if you pay for a full year up front, it does lower your annual rate. read more

I am under a family plan of my parents that pay for me here, that is why I go here. It is somewhat okay place to workout with the treadmills and weights at certain times. I feel it gets crowded with too many people every time. Also I am not liking it being little kids environment with kids running around wild. The locker rooms are big and spacious which is very good. Most the equipment are good or okay condition.This is an on and off type place where I commit. What I mean is, I go here for about 2-3 months straight and then disappear for many months to a full year and then repeat cycle. I really don't like the track since, its not used as track at times as people cross over it from the middle and outer end which disrupts a runner jogging on it. Plus the whole setup is off to me. I think overall the workout place is too small and they need to expand it or need more equipment. I remember times I felt like I walked around the track 3 to 4 times of boredom because, most the machines and weights were used up by other members. read more

Love Courts Plus...I got into the exercise 'game' a bit late. Work out here as well as at my local park district. My local park district has some of the same instructors as Courts Plus which is how I ended up with memberships at both. Zumba with Lucy is my 1st love and since I have 2 left feet and need to get a lot of practice to get down some of the moves..I started following her from gym to gym. Best Zumba instructor I've encountered yet. Courts is a bit expensive (esp. for non residents ) but well worth the cost with all it has to offer! I now do Body Pump too which is also great. Also love the pool and saunas. And nice that they also have massage therapists there too (for a lot less than I was paying elsewhere). Very clean and very well run! As for the initiation fee - watch - they do have specials that can save you a lot on that (resident or not) and it is a one time fee. read more

Courts Plus has begun eliminating low impact group aerobic programs and replacing them with more strenuous high impact aerobics. These eliminated group sessions which are used by predominately seniors were always well attended proving that they were successful and serving the needs of a specific segment of the community. Although I agree that Courts Plus is a nice facility, I cannot agree that the management has a holistic attitude in serving the needs of the entire community. The word on the street is that this change in direction by Courts Plus was developed in that the management encouraged many instructors to become certified in teaching a variety of high impact aerobics. Subsequently, large cadres of potential instructors (no doubt "connected" insiders) are pressuring the organization to create additional high impact classes in order to utilize their talents. As a result low impact is being replaced to the point of near elimination. The net result is a insidious form of age discrimination, which also smacks of being in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
