So last week I decided I wanted to change my hair and go from really long hair to a short do. I had no idea where to go so I started searching the web and found Wild Romance. The reviews were so good I figured I'd give it a go. I went to their website and checked out the hairdressers and that brought me to my new hero: CHARLOTTE! I'd seen some of her work and I figured if anyone is going to chop all my hair off it's going to be her. So that was decided and I made an appointment for the day after.
I came into the salon and was pleasantly surprised at how cute it looked. I had just figured it would look like any ordinary salon but it looked really cozy and vintage. The atmosphere was great! As soon as I walked in I got welcoming smiles from the staff and I thought to myself I've definitely come to the right place. So down walks this shining beacon of friendliness and as it turned out, this shiny beacon was Charlotte. Great!!, I'm thinking. She walks me up to her station and takes my long braid and says something along the lines of: 'Nice, so what should we do?'. At this point I'm not really listening because I am ready to fire the magic words at her, but I figure it is time to unveil my plan so I eagerly say: 'Yeah, I want it all off'.
Lights dim and heads are turned. Charlotte's eyes twinkle. I'm happy. She's excited and ready to go. So am I. She asks me if I have anything in mind so I show her some pictures I looked up. She likes it, but tells me that she won't be able to do that exactly because my bangs are a bit too short. I don't mind, and I'm happy to have found a hairdresser that is honest with me and will use her expertise to make what I want actually work with what I've got. She washes my hair (and I doze off for a couple of minutes enjoying my complementary scalp massage that is the hair washing) and we settle back at her station.
She braids my hair, as I want to donate it to the hair foundation, takes her scissors and asks: 'Are you ready?'. Hell yes I'm ready. Chop it off. AND SHE CHOPPED IT OFF. The hour that followed was filled with chops, tea, chops, more tea, nice conversation (she is actually very nice as well as a great hair dresser), and then... the unveiling!
I. LOVE. IT.
HOLY CRAP.
She asks me if I'm happy, even though it's quite obvious that I'm ecstatic, and I practically fall to her feet. She tells me that if in the following days I find anything to be bothersome and I might want to change a few things, to just come by and she'll fix it for me. Now that's what I call service.
I walk out of the store, immensely pleased, and the second I walk out I can hear this old guy saying to another old guy: 'Wow, that woman is beautiful'. I shit you not. This actually happened. That is what this haircut did to me. I've been getting compliments on my hair every day for the past week (it's been 4 days now), and I'm loving every second of it. People I don't know by name but whose face I know are actually coming up to me to compliment me on my hair. So basically, if you want your ego stroked, go to Wild Romance and ask for Charlotte. You will not be disappointed. read more
