I have been enjoying a variety of products from Wild Pastures for awhile now, so I feel like I can give an honest review. I love the fact that they offer 'clean' products, without all of the poisons the big guys pump into their products to preserve them, flavor them, etc. As a result, I am feeling better, both physically & mentally. These days finding clean, pure, nutritious food is quite the challenge, and from what I've seen, Wild Pastures offers all of these features, as well as predictable and reliable delivery. The people behind the products are also extremely responsive if you have questions, comments, or other issues in need of an answer. Another plus, is that the animals themselves have a natural life, so while I feel like a hypocrite, knowing they are headed to the dinner table, I take some solice in the fact that they do not suffer throughout their lives like those poor creatures, pumped full of hormones and antibiotics, crammed into small cages or holding lots until they are led off to slaughter. Poor quality and difficult to reach the company, WildPastures. Their ribeye steak was only about ¼" thick, full of gristle, and only a few bites of beef in the whole steak. Awful quality. There was no lb or oz information on the chicken, and the whole chicken had weird stuff near the opening of the neck...like mesh and some plastic, and it had no organ meat or neck inside. What a bummer. We've eaten about 50% of our box now and it's been 90% disappointing. The meat quality is simply not good. Odd looking and smelling ground beef. Very tough steaks almost inedible. Brisket that we slow cooked for 8 hours ended up tough like leather. chicken full of gristle and blood. We really wanted this to be amazing and I will change my review if the remaining meat is better but so far we found these products to be low quality. I signed up and ordered a variety of meat including steaks, hamburger, Taco meat, fajitas, beef kabobs, pork chops, chicken and more. I've since canceled my subscription. When I received the meat the dry ice was melted and it was not even hot outside.. My subscription dog food is packaged much better than their meat. The hamburger meat was tough, steaks were tough, fajitas and kabobs were so tough I will be feeding to the dogs. And yes, I followed all instructions for room temp before cooking etc. I've been cooking and grilling for 40 years. I tenderized and marinated the kabobs and fajita meat. The only meat so far that has been edible was the seasoned Taco meat. The chicken thighs were even tough! I am completely dissapointed to say the least. I wrote up an honest review with pics of the steaks and an admin at Wild Pastures declined to post it, so beware that their reviews on the site are biased. read more

I've been trying to like Wild Pastures for about a year now. They are competitively priced for ethical meat, and I feel good about the cost. The meat, however, is so inconsistent that I'm no longer willing to "bet" on it. Some of the cuts look like they were done with a hack saw. Steaks are 1/4 inch thick on one side and 1.5 inches thick on the other. But only sometimes! We had a slice of bacon that was 1.5 inches thick in a pack with 8 other slices that were 1/4 inch thick. Sometimes the bacon is smoky and salty, sometimes bland and musky. The grass-fed ribeyes that I added to my box for an extra $27 each (ouch) were inedibly tough - and I've been grilling ribeyes for decades - it wasn't my cooking technique. So disappointing. The ground beef in my latest order is inedible, every bite has something I need to spit out - tendons, gristle. Eww. My dog scored big on this order. Some roasts have been phenomenal, and some have been sad. Since I can't customize my box to the degree that makes it worth my money for the cuts I want, it's time to cancel. They also don't allow customer reviews on the site, so you can't gauge the quality of what you're buying before trying it yourself. In today's market, I can't spend money on inedible meat. I hope they improve their QC standards - because the price really is great. read more

Hamburger was full of grizzle and fat. No way was it 90% lean as ordered. Spitting out pieces of grizzle and white veins or something in the connective tissue category besides meat. It was gross and threw the meal out. Sausage is salty, fatty and grizzly and bit into a bone. Not lying. The bacon was extremely salty and tough lines grizzle through it. The roast looks tough but have not had it yet. Cod fish was not very fresh and the dark line in center was like salt cod hard and dehydrated. Gross. Have not eaten the whole chicken yet. The fajita meat is full of fat and grizzle lines and had to dissect it before cooking and then it was still not good tasting meat. This company is a scam. Tried to cancel my subscription and the website says my e mail name and password cannot be found. Sent email to the customer service because could not get into my account and they sent email back to me saying to go into my account and follow directions to cancel. REALLY! I just told them I can't get into my account!! SCAM. Now I have to call my credit card company and put a stop on them. read more

I had a subscription for over a year. Probably 2 years. It seems to me that they purchase lower quality items farmers are trying to get rid of. I stopped ordering bacon because it was clearly end cut cast offs that were unevenly sliced (so you couldn't really cook them well due to one end being 4-5mm thick and the other end 1 mm thick. Also they were 95% fat, nearly all white. The ground meat was the next issue: most of the packages had faulty sealing. So when you defrost it, it leaks all over. They said it was from freezing and thawing but I've switched to purchasing ground lamb at the farmers market and there are no seal deficiencies. Third, they didn't always include enough dry ice to keep the package frozen until I got home. They say pull into your house immediately, but I can't do that if I'm at work. Good flavor though, but too tough. I order ribeyes so they will cook tender, but there is little marbling and fat cap and the cut is very uneven and as another review noted, looked like one steak frozen, but when thawed, looks like they cut a larger piece into smaller pieces, which they did rather hastily. (Explains the unevenness) . So I ordered one box and cancelled. I will use the rest of the meat because it was over 300 bucks, but don't want tough meat for that price. I have tried several meat delivery services. This one was particularly interesting because they are free range and grass fed and organic and non-GMO. These were things that were all very positive to me. But unlike all of the other services, I have tried this company provides pieces of meats stacked and presented as one steak. Really enjoying the ease of this. Would love a lower fat content option on the ground products. I typically buy a 7% fat content or so because, of course, cooked animal fat goes where you really don't want it. A goal to work towards perhaps. In terms of the comment form Brian, yeah, the website could use some triage. Honestly, you can pretty much go to Chat or Grok and this point and ask the scary AI gods to write it for you. I haven't run into packaging issues yet, but appreciate the input and will watch for that. I read through the other reviews and there are certainly some concerning ones there. Thinking it would help to see some pics of the facility, maybe a vi or two showing their general process and QC process, and some discussion about the issues folks have raised here. Proper prep of packaging and shipping is paramount so I would certainly want to know the food is being packaged, stored, and shipped appropriately. I certainly wouldn't want to worry about checking to be sure the food is safe to eat or doesn't have contents that aren't appropriate. Hopefully all of this is addressed in a website rewrite. read more

Really wanted to like this service. I'm a huge proponent of making regenerative meat more accessible and affordable, but the quality just wasn't great. Some cuts were ok, but the ground meat had an extremely large proportion of fat (even though it said 80/20) and I often found bits of cartilage. The bacon was primarily fat which was unfortunately a consistent let down. Some of the meat was grayish and just generally didn't look too good. I kept going back to the website and their posts to see if others felt the same way, but the reviews on Facebook and instagram were suspiciously positive. Like overwhelmingly positive. Maybe I'm missing something here but the quality is just poor in my opinion. Luckily customer service was responsive and I was easily able to cancel my subscription and delete my account. Have to agree with the other reviewers, this company uses low quality meat and relies on facebook advertising and paying for reviews on food websites to sell it to unsuspecting consumers. The large ribeyes were actually 2 smaller cuts of meat jammed and frozen together, couldn't believe this.. The meat is extremely tough and gristly, actually worse than steaks from the local Walmart. It's edible but definitely not worth the price or wait to get it. Their website is full of dark patterns to keep you subscribed, there is NO WAY to remove your payment method after you cancel or delete your account, you have to email support to remove your card info to protect from when this company gets hacked and even they said they don't know if an account can be deleted and they'd have to ask IT. Quality has gone down since demand has increased. Since adding in more farms to supply demand, quality is inconsistent and lacking. When the meat was labeled from the main Boulder location, everything tasted great and looked great. Now ground beef lacks color and flavor and chicken wings are terrible. The orders have been complete and correct. The meat is not fresh. The beef is very bloody and does not have firm texture. The sirloin steak is 1/4 inch thick on one side and an inch on the other. I've been subscribed to Wild Pastures for at least a year, with delivery every few weeks. I order pastured chicken thighs, which are always good. I also get a lot of ground beef and ground pork. The tenderloins that I've received so far were thick and delicious. I'm not a big fan of the pork chops and bacon, but I get them anyway because they provide some variety to a diet based mostly on beef. I also get chuck roasts, which are usually just fine. I've never had the experience of steaks coming in pieces, like someone else mentioned. One sticking point for me is that some of the labels are marked with the farm names, addresses, and other details, while others are only marked with "product of USA". There is no mention of "grass fed and grass finished", or "pastured", or "humanely raised", or anything else. I am always suspicious of any meat that says "product of USA" without further detail, because it could technically come from anywhere. read more
