Came on a weekday dinner. There was plenty of parking available. Was especially impressed by the precautions they have taken with COVID-19. First a waitress comes out of the door and checks each customers temperature with a. infrared no contact thermometer. Then each each customer gets a squirt of hand sanitizer and a plastic bag to put their face mask. I ordered a grilled pork vermicelli and asked for some addition of chilli. Service: 4/5 The food came out really quickly. Ambiance: 4/5 Food: The spring roll was fresh and crispy. The portion was generous. The vermicelli itself was delicious. Found this place while I was shopping at the Asian market next door and let me tell you, what a delightful surprise. I grabbed a combo Bahn mi and some of their dumplings. Both were fantastic. Whatever sauce they serve with the dumplings was so flavorful, should be bottled and sold. The bahn mi was equally as pleasing. Perfect amounts, jalapeño sliced thin and crispy. Bread was toasted but still soft. This is one of my favorite sammies and wild ginger brings it to the table. I had the sweet potato fries as my side and those were nothing to write home about. I don't blame them, it's not really a traditional side or even something close. But worth the gamble. I stopped in on a Monday, prime lunch rush. Luckily I ordered before doing my shopping so it was ready by the time I was done. Wouldn't necessarily say my food was served with a smile but it was busy and I'm sure they rather be somewhere else on a beautiful summer day. Visiting in Asheville to see the Biltmore etc., we decided on WILD GINGER as we both wanted PHO! We sat beside a lovely "local couple" chatted & ate SPRING ROLLS with PHO & I had Vietnamese iced coffee (absolutely delicious)! The SPRING ROLLS were fabulous & PHO exceptionally good. This is the only local phò place in town, and they certainly know what they're doing. The restaurant is smaller than it should be because the place is always packed, but even then your wait isn't that long and they check on you often. Wild Ginger is another one of those standout restaurants that had me sampling their wares a second time only days after my initial visit. My first time there I tried their combo bahn mi, a fully dressed bahn mi sandwich with a side of their papaya salad. The bread was toasted yet yielding, the veggies crisp and fresh, and the pork well-cooked, juicy, and delicious. The papaya salad was crunchy and well-dressed. I also got some of their pork and shrimp spring rolls which were very flavorful especially with the peanut dipping sauce, and shu mai dumplings which were clearly housemade, rich, well-seasoned, and delicious. I had a taste of their stir-fried veggies in coconut sauce which reminded me more of a less-soupy Thai curry, but was excellent nonetheless. On my second visit I ordered tanghon (or sotanghon), which is a noodle dish made with egg noodles, bean thread (basically glass noodles), shrimp, pork, vietnamese sausage, and veggies. I have no doubt this is the dish I will order again and again. Rich, flavorful, and satisfying, I devoured the entire portion in a single sitting and was left wanting more. It was so good it haunted my dreams a little bit. They take their COVID precautions very seriously, as well. Curbside pickup is the only way they roll for takeout, bringing your food and taking payment right at your car. They also take the temperature of any guest who chooses to dine in at 50% capacity. Prices are very reasonable and I can't wait until the weather cools down a bit so I can happily try their pho which, based on the quality of everything else they offer, I'm sure will impress. read more

I get the chicken pho when I come and it's fragrant, not too overpowering, and delicious. So far I have only been able to get togo, but the restaurant smells AMAZING and I can't wait to eat there. New to the area!!! Wild Ginger was a kitchen away from our home kitchen if you know what I mean. From the moment we drove up to the cafe. Back drop of the Autumn leaves and we'll groomed grounds were amazing. We did not see any abandon cars or trash in the parking lot. When we went inside we were greeted with a Big Smile and a Friendly Hello from the owner's niece. Emphasis on Home Cooking and atmosphere. The place was jumping , the locals know good people and good cooking no wonder why Wild Ginger has won so many awards. Plates were presented beautifully and our waiter checked in frequently. He even asked if we wanted water because there are those who waste water and with the shortage of fresh water. We were very appreciative that Wild Ginger was being proactive for Mother Earth. My partner and I absolutely adore Asheville, time after time we've been wowed with customer service from various different businesses so this experience was extremely disappointing. We came in at about 4pm on 12/31/22 and requested a table for two. The hostess asked for my name and phone number and said they would call in about 20 minutes. More than 20 minutes go by and so we check on the status of our table... their response was that we were next on the list. We decide to wait inside until we were called. Then at 4:35pm somebody comes up to us to tell us that we wouldn't be seated at all because the cutoff was at 4:30pm but we could place a to-go order and wait an additional 30 minutes. There was no apology and no offer to rectify the poor communication on their end.
