This is our go to spot for season long rentals. We would rent per trip in the past and pay out the nose at other shops. Now we rent for the whole year and pay half as much for one trip. The service is amazing and there is a great selection of rentals and gear. Oh, dint forget to pet the friendly shop dog. It is just above the outlet shops in Silverthorne. The shop isn't big, but there are plenty of coats, gloves and accessories to pick from. This year the kids package is just under $200 for sport skis. I would give more than five stars if I could. We did seasonal rentals for four people and the customer service was amazing. During the season we went back a few times to make some minor changes with no hassle whatsoever. Such a fan of this local, family-owned store. The owners and staff are friendly, eager to help, and their rates are very fair. I came for the first time in February for snowboard rentals and had a great experience with the staff. This past weekend, my friends and I rented e-bikes from their new location on 4th St. (located in Hotel Indigo in Silverthorne) and had a blast riding around Dillon Reservoir and Frisco. The e-bikes were high-quality, comfortable, and lasted over 25 miles! Couldn't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back!! read more

We had a very good experience with these folks. We booked rentals for our kids here based on good reviews and proximity to our lodging. They were great with the kids and even worked us in a little early based on our schedule. We traded my oldest son's skis back for ones slightly shorter after the first day with no hassle. I also dropped my own skis off for a quick wax one evening after skiing and picked them back up a few hours later on the way back past their shop on the way to dinner. The staff look down on their clients. The service is slow because they are inefficient, understaffed and the space is cramped. The boot guy works tirelessly but needs help. The guys behind the skis are slow and pretty proud of themselves for some unknown reason. They also have little respect for the owners wife who was kind and helped us exchange boots without waiting but when we came back the next day for another exchange because the boots didn't fit the skis they refused to allow us the courtesy she did and talked down about her as a part timer who didn't know how things should be done. As a result we had to wait in the interminable boot line to exchange boots. They do inspect the skis very carefully for scratches or dings before accepting them for return. Guess folks abuse their skis. I felt lucky they didn't charge us for standard wear and tear. All in all, there are many other places that offer great prices without the attitude. read more

They have a new shop attached to Hotel Indigo and it was a great experience. We used this shop for our winter rentals, and got to use the e-Bikes here in the summer to ride around to downtown Frisco. 10/10 experience and will definitely be back when I travel back to Silverthorne! read more

I was visiting my daughter in Denver and we planned to go skiing. I hadn't skied in years. I also had not reserved boots or skis. It was a Saturday, so the first few places I called were sold out. Wild Ernest came through at the last minute. The staff was very friendly, prompt, courteous. The guy who helped fit boots for me was extremely patient and helpful. When we returned the rentals at the end of the day, we were running a bit late so we called and they had no problem waiting for us. Store was organized, comfortable, well stocked. Today every shop in silverthorne, Breckinridge, and keystone was pretty much booked solid and only taking reservations. Earnest set itself apart by taking walk ins and staying open long enough to allow everybody in line to get skis even though it was after hours. Great shop to get ski equipment at. Me and my friends were in Colorado for spring break, and most of us didn't have equipment so we looked up the nearest store. This store had everything we needed; pants, goggles, skis, poles, shoes! You name it! They were very reasonably priced. I rented everything (with the exception of goggles) for three days and it was ~$150? That's around $50 a day for everything which I think is reasonable! They fit you and make sure everything is correctly sized. The equipment is still in great condition and the process was quick and simple. Came from the Midwest to do some skiing for a few days, and we were told by our AirBnB renters that this was the place to go. They were so right -- super cool staff, very helpful, and some great gear to rent all around. They had a couple of different skill level-based packages for rentals, and the gear we rented had no issues and kept us skiing for three solid days at Keystone, Breck, and Vail. My friends and I rented skis for the weekend at Wild earnest and the level of service was great. We got an online reservation to save 10% on our order. We were fitted for skis within a couple of minutes and the guys in the shop were very helpful with our different questions. Prices were very reasonable especially when you compare them to the cost of rentals at the resorts. At the end of the day we dropped the skis off and returning them was hassle free. Stopped by here for snowboard rentals before hitting the slopes for 4 days. There were closer rental places to our place but we came here based on all the great reviews. The guys who worked here were very friendly and helpful, didn't try to push us to upgrade or oversell anything. We were in and out in 30 minutes! Two days later I came back because I'm a wimp and wanted to switch to skis after getting my butt kicked trying to learn to snowboard. They instantly fitted me for skis, no extra fees (unless I wanted to upgrade my equipment) or hassle. Returning was a breeze, just dropped off our rentals and we were out the door. Also prices were fantastic, I think our rentals were about $22 per person per day for everything. Sooo much cheaper than renting from the ski resorts. Make sure to reserve online for a discount! Very cheap rental prices.. but most importantly the service is topnotch. My boots weren't fitting right after my first day.. and I went in and they had me try on at least a dozen different boot configurations/sizes.. they spent at least an hour with me until I was happy. I felt so bad for all the work they had to do at the rock-bottom price I paid.. but they were very pleasant and helpful about it like it was no big thing. Sold me and my friends for life. read more

Rent ANYWHERE local but here. Short story: Won't do business with them after poor handling of faulty equipment Longer story: On 2/9/18 we had a friend that rented ski equipment and first run on mountain she realized the boots had no forward/backward flex. We took them to two different rental locations on mountain to confirm there wasn't a "secret sauce" to get them to flex. Nope. Ended up renting functional ski boots on the mountain (paid almost as much for just the boots). I immediately called Wild Ernest to let them know we had issues, had to rent on the mountain and that we'd be back at the end of the day to swap out boots. Here's where things get ugly - take the boots back, explain they have no flex, that we had to rent on mountain and we were expecting some sort of discount based on faulty equipment and hassle alone. We were told the boots would be swapped but no discount. I'm sorry, what? To make things worse the owner/manager was rude about it - I made a comment that their boots had zero flex and he responded with "we don't make boots". Clearly, but you also do an extremely sh*ty job standing by what you do rent. And this sits on me, I recommended these guys. So...having been a long standing customer I am sad to say today is our last day doing business there. I expect a business to stand by the products they offer and these guys most certainly do not. Oh and here's the funniest part - I was planning on buying new gloves while swapping out the boots and my wife was planning on getting new goggles. I'm sure that $5 or $10 discount we were looking for wouldn't have immediately been made back...... Do yourself a favor and go somewhere in Summit that will stand by the product they provide you. read more

This place made my trip. Seriously. I was a dumbass and rented skiis from the resort the first day I skiied. The second day I rented from this place and the process was soooo much smoother and the equipment was a fraction of the price that it was at the resort. AND I got some free gear for purchasing my lift ticket through them. We rented snow shoes from them one day as well for only $10 a pair! This place is just awesome.
