When I arrived 2 hours later to get him he wasn't ready because "he's not used to being groomed". This small dog has been groomed every 3 weeks since he was born. They said that he was anxious the whole time and 'come pick him up' because he wasn't cooperating. They emphasized that he tried to bite her multiple times. As I emphasized earlier, he is a sweetheart, loves people and other dogs whether they are a small teacup like he is or if its a big Saint Bernard. They told me that it was because he saw me leaving. ?@#$%! What? OF COURSE HE DID! He was shaking when I picked him up with a half haircut. Yes, a choppy uneven haircut and he had a bloody cut on his paw when I picked him up. I'd try to bite someone if they mistreated me too. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Our dogs are our children and don't need to be abused by such unloving, uncaring people. They should not be groomers. I don't recommend the store either. Its dirty. I bought a bunch of squeaky toys there and 3 of them didn't squeak! STAY AWAY. They won't be there much longer!

I brought my two elderly dogs here when we moved to Gilford, and the experience really was not…read moregreat. We waited for a good amount of time, even though we had an appointment. They left us waiting for such a while that I ended up needing to pee, but they would not let me use the bathroom. They said it was for staff only. So, that was super uncomfortable. The receptionist was also pretty rude, but it was the end of the day, so maybe she was just tired. Once we got a chance to see the vet, the exams for both of our dogs were cursory at best. No discussion about what their activity levels are, what they eat, their hearing or eyesight, etc. They really just want to check vaccine records and tell you when your dog needs updates on vaccines. My dogs are 12 and 13, so they obviously have more needs than just vaccines. It was a very disappointing visit. I actually requested lab work because that is what I am used to for a geriatric wellness check, but it wasn't actually advised by the vet because the vet could not have cared less. So, all that said, I ended up spending about $900 for both dogs. Two exams, two lab panels, and a rabies vaccine. Kind of high, not outrageous. I would have gladly paid that if I thought the exam was worth anything at all. Ok fast forward to today. My older dog is sick, she's been throwing up. I called to see if they could get her in, as she is a patient of record. Of course not. The receptionist, Kim, said to bring her to the emergency vet, to which I said sure, no problem. But I also wanted to make sure she got into see her regular vet, and the receptionist argued with me and told me no, they would not schedule her until she went to the emergency department. Well, I'm a busy professional, just like most people, and I need time to rearrange my schedule, so that's just ridiculous. Kim also cut me off on almost every single sentence I uttered during the phone call, to the point where I had to say "Please let me finish a sentence." I'm going to find a new vet, obviously, which sucks because this place is right next to where I live.

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS VET FOR YOUR ANIMALS BEWARE for false diagnoses!!!…read more Took my dog here for a quote on a teeth cleaning okay, no signs of sickness or any problems. He comes out and says she has a tooth infection from a cracked tooth, so we give her antibiotics and expect a full recovery. I go in 2 weeks later and he says without hesitating that it's lymphoma (cancer). No blood work or tests were done and he jumps to the worst, telling me we had to do a biopsy quoted at $1400. Now there I was in shock, visibly upset on this news and the man continues to tell me about low survival rates and tough decisions to make about treatment WHEN SHE WAS NOT EVEN POSITIVELY DIAGNOSED. And how cruel was he to continue to be so negative and harsh when I was visibly upset and processing this news, I mean seriously do you have no heart?! Where's the oh we will do everything we can or let's get some tests done to figure out what this is. So, fast forward a week later I went to another veterinarian, told them everything and had her checked. She had a full panel of blood work done and a physical exam and you guys my dog is 100% healthy. No cancer and absolutely no need to put her under for a biopsy she doesn't need. This is by far the WORST experience I've ever had with a veterinarian after being a dog owner for 10 years, so needless to say I won't be back and I warn others before taking their animals here of Dr. Macdonald's FALSE diagnoses and his cruel manor.

I was so…read moreexcited because it seemed like they would be able to offer daycare for my dogs and some auxiliary training if needed. They also said they did transport to the daycare facility and boarding on occasion. It seemed perfect. I should mention that there are Kara's pet care facilities in Portsmouth, Berwick, and Falmouth. First I was asked to set up a meet and greet with one of their associates at my home so she could meet my pets. It took me many tries to get through many unreturned phone calls, but finally we did set up the meet and greet and that went well. Then I was asked to set up an app and an account before we could actually schedule any dog care. So I set up the app and the account. Then I was asked to drive my dogs to their facility to see if the dogs would "be happy there." So I drove my dogs 25 minutes to the facility. When I got to the facility I was told that they were supposed to stay there for a day assessment and then I should come and pick them up. This was not communicated to me earlier, and I had not budgeted an extra hour of driving back-and-forth. Then they would reschedule the assessment and they would come and pick up my dogs for the day-long assessment. All before any dog care could be scheduled. So, still not on the calendar. So to summarize: you need to go through a long process of scheduling a meet and greet, then you need to have the meet and greet, then you need to sign up for the app, then your dogs have to be assessed to see if they will be happy. I'm just thinking that anyone who's busy enough to need dog care is too busy for this multilayered, multi-step, poorly communicated process where phone calls, texts, and emails are returned only about half the time.
