I had two of my kids and each were $27 ish + tax + tips...roughly about $36 per kid for a cut. I chat with the owner, who btw is very personable & professional, and he stated the price point is meant to target a certain customer base. I get it, he has a nice & trendy business with good entertainment and plenty of amenities. The beer bar for adults and gaming for the young ones provide a different touch. Overall experience was very good. You can book online appointments or walk-in, except for Saturdays. They only have online appointments on Saturdays. When I arrived unannounced, I waited about ten minutes. A friendly lady came around the corner and took me to my chair. She asked what I did earlier that day. They all ask that, so I always say, "Worked." I know that if they don't ask what I do, they don't really care and are just looking for a tip. If they ask what I do, there is a very small chance they care (6% chance). It might sound cynical, but the truth is that most people giving you a haircut don't really care about your life. You talk about your life anyway because you're sitting in a chair and it would be awkward if you didn't talk. This woman didn't ask what I did, but she kept going, which was fine. All I cared about was the haircut, which was very good. Without the coupon, it would have cost $25. This includes a creepy looking massage thing that vibrates on your back, a hair wash, and someone pretending they care about your life. He was friendly and welcoming. After waiting about 20 minutes, the barber I had initially spoken with told me that the person who would be doing my shave had just arrived and was parking his car. Unfortunately, once we got started, it quickly became apparent that he was not familiar with the equipment or setup in the shop. That should have been my cue to stop the service. I proceeded with the shave and ended up with multiple cuts on my head and face. Eventually, part of the shave was completed with an electric shaver rather than as the hot shave I had requested. At that point, I was disappointed and simply wanted the experience to be over. The staff member I initially spoke with was friendly, so I don't want to characterize the entire shop based on one interaction. However, based on my experience, I would not recommend NY2QC Kutz for a hot shave of the head and face. If a service is advertised and confirmed before a customer sits down, the barber performing it should be experienced and comfortable providing that service safely.
