This play cafe is big, like crane your neck to see the top of the play equipment big. And during holidays it hits capacity. The age group in this place is one to twelve years: there are twelve year old pubescent boys hammering full throttle down the same slides as toddlers. It's like a social experiment, or an episode of the Kardashians. What's going to happen? Who's going to cry? Who will poop their pants? The kids move so fast they're just a blur of brightly coloured hysteria.
It's ten dollars per child to get in, not including the eight dollars fifty you have to pay for a little bowl of wedges. That's right, eight dollars fifty! A lot of parents like the madness and the noise. Being able to hold an adult conversation in the midst of this sort of chaos makes them feel empowered. I am not one of them.
