Good dog park. Unfortunately it's mostly dirt and rocks not really any grass. Couple big trees. A few benches and seats, doggie bags provided along with trash bags of course. People leave behind tennis balls which is nice. Two entrances, one off Sheffield and the other on the intersecting street.

    For dogs or for kids??

It was Maxwell's (friend Jeff's gray Weimaraner) first time there. Maxwell would give it two paws up. I'm not a dog care giver but I enjoy playing with dogs. Normally, Maxwell goes to Pup Town, but needed new sights and new butts to sniff and play with. The park is not level which is great since it tired Maxwell out faster. The wading pools were great. The park is nicely laid out. As side from the asphalt surface, there are area with wood chips under the trees for the dogs to rest on. Sure the noise from the El train can be annoying but what noise can't be? So let Cujo or Fifi enjoy themselves at Wiggly Field.

Pups were loving the cool off station of kiddie pools!!

Wiggly field is a pretty good dog park! There's a great deal of shade for hot days, they have poop bags stocked, the gates are very secure, and there's a water fountain and running hose to fill multiple kiddie pools. The park is made up of gravel and pavement, plus areas around trees with little wooden hurdles the dogs enjoy jumping over. There's even a "time out" dog run near the back area. They have little concrete 2-seater tables and chairs that are cute too for the humans. My only real critique is that I could see parking being tough on certain days when parking restrictions are in force... but great spot!

WF Mayor For the record I am not him. I would like to know what he said that so offended you. When it comes to gate control, there is usually no time for polite diplomacy. If someone leaves a gate even partially open and a dog slips in without you seeing it, then you open the next gate and the little stowaway can run out without you even knowing it. How else can you alert someone of the dangerous situation that they may be causing, when there may be only seconds to sound the alert. I have seen to many dogs get out and on two occasions they were hit by cars, one died and one barely survived. No one is being disrespectful to you, but rather just trying to keep an innocent animal safe. It's not about you - get over it. When was the last time you picked up dog shit from another dog. When was the last time you volunteered to clean up leaves or snow. Who do you think does those chores. We do, the arrogant dog owners. We get no money from the city, not even the bags are supplied by city one of the WF Mayor's friends arranges for them. What have you done for the park but bitch and insult someone who cares about the dogs and probably picks up your dogs shit when you don't. If that makes him an asshole, the we need more assholes like that.

I used to go to this park a lot until I found Puptown. Some of the owners here do not pay attention to their pets. I understand that the dog park can also be a place for pup parents to socialize, but it's also important to supervise your dog. My little girl generally leaves this place with scratches and bites... with some resulting in some pretty nasty looking scars. I am by no means a fru-fru, overly sensitive owner. My pup generally romps around and wrestles with other dogs. It just seems that some of the dogs that come here have some temperament issues so we stopped visiting. Putting aside my negative experiences, the overall park is great. There is lots of room for running and has to be one of the biggest fenced dog parks I've seen in the city. There is lots of shade for the hot summer days and there is usually a kiddie-pool for the dogs to cool off in. The owners are really great about dumping and replacing the water if it gets too dirty or their pet has used the restroom in it. Proceed with caution (as you should with any dog park)!

Great dog park to let your dog run, play, and have fun with other dogs. Dog owners are very friendly.

Recently, it's maintained the amount of dogs, but the attentiveness of the owners has seriously decreased. I have left multiple times because I felt that dogs were being aggressive and their owners were either not paying attention, or were not picking up on the signs of their dogs' aggression. I have a fairly large dog (56 lbs), so I'm not just freaking out whenever any dog approaches my tiny pup. My dog is pretty submissive, and not at all aggressive, so it's really unfortunate that we're forced to leave because irresponsible owners let their dogs bully her. This is, obviously, not all owners. Let's get Puptown back on track people! If you're dog STARTS behaving aggressively, pull them away to settle down. It can't be good for you, your dog, the dog that gets hurt, or the hurt dog's owner if something goes down. You can't go to a dog park, sit down, and expect other people to regulate the situation. I'm not getting in the middle of a dog fight between two dogs who, although half my size, could tear me to shreds if they wanted to. That's why EVERYONE needs to pay attention to their dog.

People say it's a well kept park,(it does look nice from the pictures posted, especially with all the dogs) so come spring I'll probably give this park another chance. Maybe it's just a bad experience at the end of the year. I had to travel about 15-20 to get here, no dog parks in my area, so if you're like me, maybe you can check out the portage park dog park. It's a nice area and the dog park is half gravel half turf. Not as big though but its pretty close to it; nice big square area. Nice drinking fountain and bags to pick up waste. People there are friendly also.

Other doggie amenities include a water fountain and a sprinkler with a few plastic kiddie pools in the summer. There is an abundance of tennis balls, just in case you forgot yours. The small size of this place makes it feel crowded when there are more than 4 dogs here. The best times to come (if you're looking for minimal dog interaction) are on weekdays before 4pm and early in the morning on weekends. You'll often see people exercising on the lawn or kids dangling their feet in the lily pond at the base of the fountain. After many years of neglect, in 1986, Mayor Harold Washington, along with Greenpeace International, had a ceremony to dedicate it as an International Greenpeace Garden...which was later shortened to the Peace Garden.
