He did this in front of a row of disabled students who are about to graduate. I will follow up with the high school in hopes they are not allowed to speak at the high school again. The end result of his representation was that he never once spoke to so much as one person with an interest in the case, over a period of one full year from the date we hired him. I discovered this fact, due to a call from a very frustrated insurance representative who was very interested in settling the case, and who had chanced defying a request to only contact Mr. Silvey, whom never once returned any calls placed to his office. When I contacted Mr. Silvey to confront him with what had been told to me, his immediate and only response was that he would be paid in full, despite my obvious dissatisfaction with him at the moment, but I was free to hire someone else if I so desired. The contract we signed specifically stated that he would receive a third of any settlement only if the case went to court. He would receive 25% if it was settled out of court. As he did nothing to assist us, under any criteria imaginable, we were basically forced into accepting a first offer from the other party's insurance company. What we received was not even enough to cover my wife's medical bills. One-third was deducted from the settlement amount, although it was settled out of court. Why? Because as I unfortunately discovered, at the time we signed the contract for representation, he deceptively failed to provide us a copy of it, so that I could contest his fee amount. I was denied of course at that point, a copy of the contract. I strongly advise anyone to avoid this Attorney like the plague. He has no shame whatsoever and I see him as nothing more than a scam artist. And that I would swear to under oath and on the stand.
