Hiring Nancy Burnett for my custody case is one of the biggest regrets I have from this entire…read moreprocess. If you are considering hiring her to handle something as important as custody of your child, I strongly suggest you think twice. I provided Nancy with evidence for my case, including text messages. She did not present ANY of my evidence at my hearing. The other side presented partial screenshots, and she did not challenge them. She did not cross-examine on important issues or give the court the evidence I had provided her to show my side of what was happening. I sat in that courtroom and watched a hearing involving my child unfold while the evidence I had spent time gathering and giving to my attorney went unused. I walked out of court knowing the judge had made a decision without ever seeing the evidence I had given my own attorney. After the hearing, I fired Nancy and requested my file back. When I received it, pieces of my own file were missing, and I found documents belonging to someone else mixed in with mine. That only added to my concerns about how my case and documents had been handled. What made the entire experience even worse was Nancy's response afterward. She told me I was just upset because I lost. Of course I was upset about the outcome, but that completely ignored WHY I was upset with her representation. My attorney went into a custody hearing without presenting any of the evidence I had provided and without challenging evidence from the other side. Those failures mattered. Dismissing my concerns as simply being angry because I lost was unacceptable. I hired an attorney because I expected her to actually advocate for me and present my case. I did not hire someone just to stand beside me while the other side presented theirs. I have seen other reviews describing Nancy as passionate, caring, and someone who fights for her clients. Maybe that was their experience, and maybe that was the attorney she once was. It was absolutely NOT the attorney I experienced. Based on the representation I received, I believe that time has passed. In my opinion, Nancy needs to retire rather than continue taking cases this important when this is the level of representation a client can receive. If you are considering hiring her, ask very specific questions before you pay her. Ask exactly what evidence she plans to introduce, how she plans to challenge the opposing party's evidence, how she will prepare you for court, and how your documents and case file will be handled. Do not assume that because you gave your attorney evidence, the court will ever see it. I made that mistake. I eventually hired another attorney, and I wish I had done it sooner. I would never hire Nancy Burnett again, and I cannot recommend her for a custody matter. I wish someone had warned me before I trusted her with something this important.

He calls the judge by their first name and tells audacious lies, knowing that the burden of proof rest on the shoulders of opposing council to disprove, not his. The burden of proof or a better way of saying it is the burden of truth should rest on every officer of the court shoulders especially when there are children involved. All attorneys are paid to win but when a child's well being is at stake a good attorney should and most will follow their heart, not their check book. This has been Rick's winning strategy for several years, but sooner or later this strategy will fail. My ex husband and I went to court and Mr. Brown claimed to have a private investigator to try and gain leverage over the custody hearing. It did not work for him bc my ex and I reached an agreement that was in the best interest for our child. Mr. Brown openly lied to my husband and told him he never got the paperwork. My husband had to demand from him at which time Mr. Brown told him he would not allow him to sign those in his office. My attorney had to take care of the divorce proceedings for us. Mr. Brown is the lowest form of scum there is out there. He makes false accusations, do not fall for them. Demand copies of anything he is claiming he has. This man is a fraud and bc I did hire a private investigator after my husband and his attorney threatened me in temporary court, my husband would have lost full custody of his daughter. Please steel clear of this attorney, he does not care about the best interest of your child and he using dangerous practices to try and bully people into thinking he is a good attorney.
