They work under Darwin's leadership and have always been great about responding quickly to our work orders. They take the time to listen and always come up with solid solutions. We've seen a big improvement in the maintenance team over the past few years, and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Not long ago, our air conditioner broke late at night--around 10:30 PM. Justin Chapman, the Security Manager, jumped into action right away and made sure we had a cool, comfortable place to stay that night. We appreciated how quickly he handled everything. The care, quick responses, and genuine concern from the staff are what make Regency Oaks feel like home.

Our last interaction with them was a few days ago when we went to collect his things. Suffice it to say it was a horrid experience! While the 6 of us were packing and reminiscing, the owner had the audacity to bring in a guy to look around the room looking for things that needed repair before their next victim was brought in - really?!?! Can't you people wait until the grieving family leaves before completing that task?!? Things were also missing on Sunday that were there on Saturday. When asked, I got the run around and a few things were 'found' elsewhere in the building, even though they had my grandfathers name clearly marked on them. Beware of Emerald Gardens - Your loved one deserves dignity and respect, both of which are sorely lacking here.

The State has closed two cottages due to the infestation and poor conditions (full of roaches). The director, Dawn Grady, is a horrible human being who only cares about filling the place and residents are dying due to neglect. I regret sending my mother to Pacifica Bellair for the 8 months that she resided there, ending up with a huge hematoma that bled for two weeks. One of the residents, a little old lady that lived in the same cottage than my mother, was sent to the hospital with maggots in her legs and private parts. She died in the hospital. This place SHOULD BE CLOSED and Dawn Grady should not be working with our fragile loved ones.

It's clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there are so many activities for the residents. My friend seems very happy here. After being here 30 days, she could not tell me one thing she does not like. She likes it all! When I walked into the dining area to visit my friend, I walked into an ice cream social. My friend and one of the other residents asked the staff member serving up ice cream if I could have a cup. She gave me one, and it was delicious. My friend showed me her room. It's small and cozy and she has her own bathroom. We sat outside talking, and it was a beautiful day. She showed me the lake behind the facility, and told me she loves watching the ducks. As we talked, a couple of musicians pulled up to the front of Lake House and unloaded their equipment. Within 30 minutes we heard them playing in the dining area. They were great! I look forward to seeing my friend often in the future. I'm so glad she's here!

Other facilities have a common laundry, at one place, two per floor and two washers and two dryers (occasionally non-working) and it is often difficult to get a machine. There is no exorbitant fee you pay at entrance as there is at some other facilities. (Not usually given the name, Entrance Fee, of course.) Coral Oaks requires only monthly rent and that is all that is gone should you choose to move.
