I will be sticking to pie and coffee. Two times eating lunch and I was disappointed with the food.

I don't play with donuts. I'm a donut-eating fool. Donuts are my thing. I have glaze running through my bloodstream. I've never eaten better donuts than the ones I got from Concannon's in Muncie. In fact, I'm planning another trip to Muncie JUST to visit Concannon's and get some donuts. What's a two-hour round-trip drive when you can be rewarded with amazing donuts during your journey? I visited Concannon's by myself, and although I wanted one of each of the donuts they had in the bakery case, I limited myself to three donuts: a glazed pretzel-shaped yeasted donut, a blueberry cake donut and an old fashioned donut. My go-to at any donut shop is usually a glazed twist, but they don't have glazed twists here! Instead, they have a glazed pretzel-shaped donut, which turned out to have all of the elements of a glazed twist, but it was just bigger and more twisty. It was amazing, pillowy, slightly sweet and even more delicious when you pull it apart with your fingers and eat it bit by bit. The blueberry cake and old-fashioned donuts were my favorites, though. These melted in my mouth, especially the old-fashioned. It was so tender and fresh. The old-fashioned is one of those kinds of donuts that I wish I enjoyed with some coffee, but instead, I ate it solo while dancing around delightedly in my hotel room. Concannon's has lots of other sweets, desserts and baked goods, like cakes (including mini cakes and individual cake slices), cookies, whoopie pies, chocolates, popcorn, candies and all sorts of other goodies. There is also a cafe with coffee and other beverages available. This is a must-visit if, like me, you love donuts, but also a must-visit in general because it's such a Muncie institution.

I have been in Muncie now for awhile. It amazes me that people eat this stuff. It's all the exact…read moresame stuff. It's not real pastry not even close. It's tons of bread w/ a little icing. Everything there is buttercream. They try to make you think it's different but it's not. You have to give them about 3 days for a whipped icing cake. Last time they were so rude I just walked out. I just don't know why people would want to waste calories on something so dang bad. And everything is always so dry. So I started making deserts so my friends here could see what a real dessert taste like. What a real donut is suppose to taste like. Now they have never ate there sense. If they took the time to make stuff fresh & quit cutting corners. They might save there company. Was so excited about there deli. Everything they just order in & it's all bad too. I would have ate there for lunch every day. It's not hard to use fresh ingredients. So I feel for people that think this is good. Step out & try somewhere in fishers or Indy or BroadRipple! Now you will have some epic pastry & you won't eat or waste this crap in your body. Gonna put sugar in your body make sure it's at least good! lol But if you don't care then my opinion does not matter. This is for people who do care. & need a little push! ‍

The standout to us were their donuts. We've had donuts from Florida to Vegas and states in between and theirs are quite possibly the best donuts we've ever had! We always have to try glaze cause having a good base is crucial for good donuts. They were phenomenal! They also had interesting flavors like mint cream and orange cream. We will definitely return here and recommend you check them out!

I may move to Fountain City, just to be closer. Fountain City is run by local Amish. They produce and sell just about everything including furniture, dry goods, cheese and other dairy products. The shop is immense and immaculate. The shelves are filled with colorful candy, locally produced grains and flour, pasta galore, and more. At one end of the store is a bakery selling fresh donuts, pies and fry cakes. At the other end is a deli, making fresh sandwiches to order. The sandwiches are amazing. I had a turkey and ham sandwich on rye. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese and fresh toppings. This was the best sandwich that I have had in a long time and it was $3.99. There is no place to eat inside, so you must take your food to go. The staff were friendly and efficient. The cheeses are amazing and flavorful. I picked up horseradish and bacon cheeses. The prices are reasonable. You can even buy chicken coups and outbuildings. There was an extensive collection of bird food and custom feeders. There is plenty of mid week parking, but probably crowded on weekends. Bring a cooler. This shop is fabulous.

It was the perfect bread for our lunch. It was a French loaf, and though it didn't have any spices or seeds in it, it had so much flavor, and was super soft. It toasted up nicely, too. You can tell that the guy who makes the breads and cookies (yes, he makes cookies, too) is really passionate about what he does. He took the time to explain his process and what he puts into his loafs. I want to go back to the farmers market and buy one of his sweet breads next time.

The loaves have great texture, flavor and now I'm totally motivated to get to the Winter Market this weekend. I bought a jalapeño/bacon/cheese loaf and a garlic cheese loaf plus his signature bread. It is all delicious. His signature loaf in the summer is a bread shape, in the winter it's a round shape. It's great for sandwiches or toast. My advice is to get to the market early if you want bread, at 9:00 he was already selling out of items.
