However, other than cod, fish is cooked to order even during peak times, which can leave you standing in the shop for ages, though their openness to phone orders will help the organised amongst you. The other strike against it is that other than at peak times, the shop is wildly inconsistent. Occasionally, everything is fresh but mostly it's absolutely dreadful. The chips will be cold and soggy, the fish will be bone dry and overbaked. Contrast this with the Big Catch in Beckenham High Street, where everything seems to be fresh all the time, it's understandable why this is just a neighbourhood chippy.

Moreover, it has disturbed me greatly to see that many places that offer "chips" are selling french fries. Like what we have in America. These are NOT chips. This place not only does chips right, requiring at least an inch in diameter and almost have to get that much in sickness, made from entire potatoes, these are real.
