Had a really fun time on a Friday afternoon during their free distillery tour and tasting. The staff were very friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable. They graciously let us taste any and everything we wanted to -- even their sold out 10 year rum! I was very impressed by this. You can tell there's a lot of heart behind the operation and it really shines through. My favorite rums were the Mango, Vanilla Bean, and Cold Brew Coffee. I wish there was more seating inside where you could sit, play cards, and enjoy a few cocktails with some of their fantastic rums! But we enjoyed tasting while we could and headed out for our next adventure. It's good to know all of the nice gift shop options they have from handmade candles, gift baskets, apparel, signs, postcards and stickers, and more -- for when birthdays and holidays roll around. Noticed a bottle of Wicked Dolphin rum at one of the bars we were just at in Cape Coral, so search it on Yelp and headed there. We just missed the free tour of the rum distillery which runs about 45 minutes, although the complimentary rum tastings were open and a crowd was forming. The bartender provided shots of banana and their best sellers coconut. Both had a pleasantly enticing fragrance with a strong flavor taste. Each bottle of rum was 60 proof and priced at $26.99 except for the oak barrel ten year reserve at a premium price of $74.99. The bar offers a choice of six cold Wicked cocktails at $7.00. Went to the 4:00 free tour of the distillery on a Thursday night. They started right on time and was educational. We were served a shot of rum punch half way through and at the end of the tour they served us three shots of our choice of rums. We brought 3 bottles and a shirt. Finally, we get to visit Wicked Dolphin Distillery...It has been on our to-visit list for 3+ years. Out of town friends are staying in Cape Coral, so it is the perfect time! The tiki bar is a great place to hang out until your tour begins. We had some very tasty tropical drinks made with, of course, Wicked Dolphin Rum! Next, the tour is very interesting and educational. You also get to taste their special Wicked Punch...mmmm. After the tour, it gets even better (how, you ask???). You get to taste their top three selling flavors (vanilla, coconut and banana). And, they don't limit you to just three. You can sample as many of their flavors as you want. They have a lovely shop for souvenirs and of course, you should take home at least one bottle of their delicious rum. Have been wanting to check this place out for years but could never get the timing to workout, finally made it happen. What a great find, such a cool place! We came for a distillery tour, it wasn't very long but our guide Skylar made it fun and informative. The ladies inside where you do tastings are great! Funny, friendly and so welcoming. They will let you sample everything! Definitely do! Highly recommend the coffee rum, delightful! The banana rum tastes exactly like now and later candies. The vanilla rum is also delicious. Come before your scheduled tour time and grab a rum drink from the bar. The punch we got to sample during the tour was great and refreshing! They do other events- live music, a stage, corn hole and food trucks at the outside tiki bar. There is a covered outdoor seating area in the front of the building. The Wicked Dolphin is an interesting place, the staff are very knowledgeable about their products and they have a great selection of rum. In spite of being a smaller distillery, they put out a lot of good rum to local bars and stores, along with the tourist trade. It was interesting to see how they make rum and everyone appreciated samples after the tour! We decided on the black rum as a gift and the Florida sugar cane rum was definitely one for us. On the Florida Distillery Trail again! I got to try Wicked Dolphin in Total Wine a while back and have already been through a bottle of their coconut rum- so I knew I would like their rums! They have quite the assortment and we took home a few bottles happily! The blueberry and strawberry rum-shine were especially delicious. You can pay for a tasting and try a whole bunch or you can sample three (ish) samples for free. We might have had more than three and of course John and I share- so we double our spirits easily. We taste to see if we want to buy- plain and simply, so with that in mind we pick the ones that we believe we will enjoy and go from there. If you do the free tasting- really look at everything before you pick your lineup. I got done and wished for others and luckily our tasting guide was flexible! I was invited along as part of a "meet up" group that my Mom belongs to and we had a tour of the distillery today. Quite interesting to see the back of the house, get to talk with one of the rum distillers, have a few samples throughout and finally, visit the shop to be able to purchase the same rums that we tasted. The tour guide is certainly interesting and definitely passionate about what he does here. He had several interesting stories and lots of background about the history of rum in Florida and the Wicked Dolphin Distillery and the products that they're making here. My favorites were the "wicked punch" and the vanilla bean rum. Tasty! In the gift shop, they do sell rum direct and offer information on other retailers where it can be purchased in the area and out of state. Some magnets and tshirts for sale too.
