I don't even know where to start! I think I had the best Bloody Mary I have ever tasted from this distillery. They infusion jalapeños in their vodka and serve this drink with a PASTA straw. What a fun find! I was looking for a place to have a cocktail before going to my new grad's party and found this place close by. You don't have to do a tour or tasting to stop by and enjoy a cocktail, but I ended up trying a flight of their liquor anyways! Honestly, all the booze was delicious! I tried two flavored vodkas, two rums, and their newest caramel whiskey and each one was smooth and easy drinking. We also tried a couple cocktails off the menu that were good, get the coconut rum and pineapple juice one. The service was on point and the owner even made his way around the tasting room to introduce himself and say hi. Although the tasting room is smallish there is a good amount of seating and a great selection of the pirate-themed booze on display to peruse while sipping. That is not the case here! Everything my wife and I sampled was very good! The bartender was very pleasant and even the owner stopped by our table to chat. We had a fantastic time visiting this distillery! As soon as you walk in you are greeted by Alana who does a terrific job of entertaining, making you feel like one of the family and giving information about the distillery. You are quickly met my the "master" himself Steve. He clearly has a passion for making alcohol! It definitely shows when you try the different varieties.. vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, etc. They have won awards and taste great!! My favorites were the Limoncello Lapsang Souchong Whisky and Strait Bourbon and Rye whiskey... just to name a few! He is so informative and entertaining as well. We learned so much on our tour and highly recommend paying the $15 each person to take the tour which includes 5 samples. No one is a stranger at this place and we made new friends. The hospitality shown by the "dynamic duo"(Steve and Alana) was awesome! They have merchandise such as local coffee( Monkey Cult) , Bloody Mary mix (7sins), shirts, shot glasses, etc. They have live music on Fridays nights as well. read more

They have an interesting selection of rum! When we got there we wanted to know what they had available, and called from the car. They told us to come in and look at the menu. I thought perhaps I could see it from the door, but when I opened the door the place was packed with a maskless crowd, including the employees. So, not wanting to risk that, I returned to the car, researched things on the web site, and called to see if they would walk out a couple of bottles to stock our bar. One of the employees was very nice, and actually put together and surprised us with taster flight and brought it out; we sat on the tailgate to taste. She apologized that they were booked inside for a bridal shower. I mentioned that it shocked me to see so many people inside. The selection contained coconut, coffee, dark, butterscotch, spiced, and lite rums. That was very nice, but perhaps that wasn't the best way to taste them... they had a good smooth flavor, but differences were subtle. We ended up getting spiced rum for the holidays, lite rum as a gift, and dark rum. We definitely plan to go back next year... hopefully it'll be safe then to get a tour.. it looked like a really nice facility! It would be nice to sit and enjoy a proper tasting. read more

WOW!!! What a great find. My wife took me here as the beginning of my birthday celebration and I'm so glad she did! We started out with a tour of the distillery by its founder & owner Steve. It was a very interesting tour full of great information about not only liquor in general but specifically everything about his concept. It was sooo great to know that ALL of the ingredients that he's using are ALL sourced locally. After a very interesting tour by an incredibly interesting and proud master distiller we went back to the 'Bar' area and had a flight of all their distilled spirits. In my entire life, there are VERY few liquors I don't drink, and that is due primarily to my 'Over Indulging' on them at one point in my life (college). The one spirit I have never developed a taste for is Gin. Then adding the nasty taste of Tonic to it, made it a 'no can do' for me. Well, after tasting THEIR Gin, I have completely changed my mind. Such a great 'floral' taste without that HEAVY Juniper Berry taste. I drank it straight with NO awkward face manipulations and then our 'Tour Guide' added their homemade 'Shrubs' to my gin and took it to another delicious level. I am now a Gin fan but ONLY for their "Margoza" Gin. I am not a loyal vodka drinker but if I do have a vodka, I enjoy Tito's. Tito's claim to fame is the fact that they are filtered six times and to my surprise at this distillery, they normally filter 7 times AND have the capability of doing it 17 times!!! As with the gin I tasted, their vodka was extremely delicious and is now my favorite vodka. We also sampled the dark rum which was good and then the spiced rum and toasted coconut rum. In my opinion the spiced rum and toasted coconut rum were amazingly awesome and I enjoyed them more than the dark rum. This distillery has only been open for eight weeks so they are still on some of their first batch spirits. Being an amazing entrepreneur, they take feedback from all of their guests and change the ingredients based on what is being more expected. After everyone in our party enjoyed our flight of spirits, we began purchasing various bottles for our own home enjoyment! They also sell an amazing (which we tasted) pre-made Bloody Mary Mix In 3 spicy levels. I then spoke to Michelle, who handles just about every additional aspect outside of Steve's responsibilities of creating amazingly delicious spirits about bringing in a group of friends to take advantage of their "Pyrate Hour" which is PERFECT for small groups! Not only is it a good thing to support A local business, but a local business that produces such a high quality product is an easy decision to make. I can't recommend enough to anyone reading this review that you should make a point of going there and trying out their different spirits and buy as much as you possibly can. They have an enormous amount of events that they are participating in as well as events that will be at their location. I was looking to take my husband out for an afternoon on his birthday. He enjoys whiskey and had been on a recent trip to Kentucky to visit whiskey distilleries with some of his friends, so I thought this would be a perfect place. It was not only the perfect place, but he also learned a lot more about whiskey at Loaded Cannon Distillery, than what he was previously exposed to in Kentucky! IMAGINE THAT! I had called ahead to find out the hours and was greeted cordially by Alana who was extremely helpful. When I showed up with my husband a few days later, she remembered my name and was very helpful in getting us acquainted with the tastings they offer. Should I state instead...THE MANY TASTINGS THEY OFFER!! Once we were settled in, Steve the owner, came out to great us along with other guests who were in the bar area and we started on our tour of the distillery. Steve has an extensive background in chemical engineering as well as a black belt in whiskey trivia as he was a wealth of knowledge throughout the tour. If you have ever been on a distillery tour or not, I highly recommend you take this tour as you will be shocked on how much knowledge Steve has to share with you! It was obvious to all of us on the tour that this was not only an immaculate operation, but an operation that did not spare any expense in making sure it created the very best product. When I say that, I mean you really can't comprehend the type of equipment or the great lengths Steve went to in order to use the purest water for his products!! TRULY AHHMAZING! After the tour, Alana greeted my husband with a slice of decadent Spiced Rum Cake that was super moist with rum and made his birthday extra special! Got rained out at the beach so a quick ol' Yelp search for a distillery led us here on a Saturday late afternoon. What a find and so impressed it's only been open a little over a year! Thank you to Jay and owner Steve for a wonderful and memorable experience. From all the tastings (great deal btw for 5 tastings and shot glass to keep), to the welcoming atmosphere, tips on making drinks with their products, and great conversation...we can't wait to come back and continue to buy their stuff. They had such different things we've never heard of before, and we were so intrigued and surprised by how delicious it all was. I personally loved their strawberry vodka and also lemon vodka, but what really blew us away was the jalapeño vodka. Yes. You read that right. Mixed with a local Bloody Mary mix they sell there and it was a complete mind blow. We went home with a bottle of both, plus strawberry vodka and two bottles of shrubs (if you don't know what that is...go and find out!! ) Go, go, go to this place, take your time sampling...you won't be disappointed. Stopped in to check it out as we have heard some good things about them. We decided to take the tour of the distillery, it was lead by the owner Steve. Super friendly guy and definitely knows his stuff. He talked about the path that brought them to where they are, where they want to go to and a little about the roadmap to the future. He took time for Q&A in his office asking what kind of spirits and flavors people want to see and try. After the tour out to the tasting room for a flight with Michelle. She loves what she does and it shows. She spun a tail of the pirates who the inspired so much of the distillery and their spirits. As part of the flight it included their Vodka, Gin, Rum, Spiced Rum and Coconut Rum. The vodka is top shelf smooth and very drinkable. The Gin was good and made even better with a little lemon shrubs. The Rums were very good but that coconut rum is something special. Ended up picking up a bottle of vodka and one of the coconut rum. Our friend who was with us picked up the gin and shrubs. If you are out this way definitely take time to stop in you won't be disappointed. They also do private parties and events as well as cocktail classes. read more

Hidden gem on the northside of Lakewood Ranch. Distillery with a cool tasting room where you can sample the many spirits crafted on site. If you like vodka, gin, whiskey, or rum you'll find an interesting variety of each at Loaded Cannon. The bartender, Alana , was friendly and eager to explain all the offerings or mix a tasty cocktail. The spicy Bloody Mary made with LC's amazing jalapeño flavored vodka and 7 sins Bloody Mary mix was so delicious. Alana also crafted a smoky Old Fashioned with the bourbon mash whiskey that was unique and flavorful. There are tasting flights and distillery tours available, too. Calling all rum people! Family went on vacation to Florida and after some research I discovered that Florida has lots of rum distilleries. After some more research we decided to try Loaded Canon. We made reservations for the 8 of us. At 15$ a person for a tour and tasting which included 5$ per tour kickback toward bottle purchases I felt it was very reasonable. They have a long list of things to try. I focused on the rum, more on that later! We arrived as they opened and was promptly greeted by Alana. Really cool place inside the tasting room. Nice decor, barrels for tables, bright and airy feeling, pirate themed. Nice bar, shelves with bottles on display etc. overall really cool place with a cool vibe. Alana was super friendly stopped to chat for a minute, handed us list of things available for sample. We made our choices then it was tour time! Alana took us into the back where we met Steve. Steve took us in an amazing tour. Seeing the operation and equipment is something I always enjoy. What really made this special was Steve. You could tell he is very passionate about what he does. The tour was a combo of seeing and hearing about the equipment and process as well as learning some history with a couple jokes and some humor in the mix! Steve was proud of the operation, talking about everything they do to keep it local, starting with pure water, the grains, molasses, etc. towards the end he stopped to answer questions then showed us back to the tasting room where our samples were waiting! I've done plenty of tastings at different places, these samples were very generous pours. Between the 8 of us we covered a wide range of product. My favorites were the Dark Rum and Spiced Rum. The Toasted Coconut and Vanilla were outstanding as well. The smell and taste were outstanding. Others in the group really enjoyed the Apple pie, NeauxLacello, Blackcherry and gin. Steve came out at one point to follow up with us about how we were enjoying everything. We mentioned the gin as not our favorite. His eyes lit up! He said you haven't tried the right one for you! He ran back and brought a sample of a different gin. It was different and so good! No food to talk about which is fine. Overall this place rocks and if you are doing distillery tours in the Tampa area put this on the list! We left with several bottles that I cannot wait to get home and share with friends and family. Hands down the best distillery tour I've been on! Given by the owner and he gave so many details and science-y info (which as a math/science teacher it was fantastic!!).
