Wicked Chicken has been my place to watch UFC PPVs with friends for the last few years. The owner is a fan and is super chill. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I'd say 7 wings per person is a good estimate to order off of. My favorite flavors are the lemon pepper and garlic parmesan. They're a little sauce-heavy with other flavors so these two by comparison are perfect go-to options. Plenty of beers on tap to pair with your chicken. Decent food, excellent beer selection, but prices are a little steep. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a nice place to grab a bite and watch some sports, or for a pregame meal before walking over to PayPal Park to catch a Bay FC or SJ Earthquakes game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But your expenses are going to pile up if you linger too long. $13 for 5 wings or 3 tenders is a lot. Sandwiches are good, but recently I got the Italian beef and it was far too soggy to be enjoyable. Italian beef is best when there is some moisture, but the bun was not the right type to keep its structure. Sides are probably the most overpriced item. I once ordered the tater tots, thinking that there would be something special about them since they're called Terry's Tater Tots, but they weren't treated in any special way and as far as I could tell, I had spent $7.50 for half a bag of Ore-Ida. The main reason to come here is the beer selection, which is mostly small breweries from California. Lots of different types with helpful information posted (e.g. ABV and IBU) so you can make an informed choice. There are several TVs, but it doesn't seem like the staff always pays attention to what's showing. I'm not quite sure how this place has stayed in business all these years but it's certainly not because of the food, I can promise you that. I have to assume it's mainly through their proximity to Santa Clara University and college students desperate for a place to buy a beer and watch the game. You might think a place called Wicked Chicken can at least deliver a tasty wing or chicken tender, but you would be sorely mistaken. Everything is drenched is sauce and the breading falls off the chicken way to easily. Getting the breading to properly bond to the meat is Fried Chicken 101 and somehow a place named after it still hasn't figured it out. And that is all before the prices. Don't get me started on the price... $26.50 for 10 wings? What planet are you living on? That is reason enough to walk out the door to go find something better and more in line with reality. Honestly the only bright spot on their menu is their fried-food appetizers as both the Onion Rings and Curly Fries were quite good, though they make you pay extra if you want ranch which is an absolute joke when you are already charging $7.50 for a moderately-sized basket. Not the place for a person who is broke and is neurodivergent. Lookin for a spot to enjoy some good chicken and beer while watching your favorite sports? Wicked Chicken is a great option! (right across from Santa Clara University) They have plenty of TV's on all four walls... they were playing Giants vs A's baseball on some TV's, and NBA playoffs on other TV's (got to see Warriors finish off the first round!). The place had a lot of foot traffic for a Wed night, but not crowded, and there was plenty of seating available. Half the restaurant regular tables and the other half bar height tables and chairs, plus a few actual seats at the bar, as well as a few tables outside. There was no line when we arrived, no wait to order at the counter. They have plenty of beers to choose from. And the chicken tenders were pretty good, the white meat chicken wasn't dry and tasteless like other places, and breading was light and crispy with good flavor. Various sauces and rubs to choose from as well. I tried the traditional buffalo and sweet red chili. Both were delicious and perfect for dipping. The beers were good as well. The Shadow Puppet Efficiency triple IPA was strong! Narrative Fermentations Decisions Were Made had an appealing floral taste I liked. The Pizza Port Bacon and Eggs draft.. well I liked the name, it made me hungry for breakfast :D Service was satisfactory, staff helpful and quick to get us what we needed (napkins, plastic utensils, etc.). Very hit and miss. Sometimes their take out service irks me, because the quality of the things you order isn't worth the trip on your lunch break, or for whatever reason, really. The ladies here and friendly AF, and when they're ontop of their game the wings can be good. I recommend getting the atomic wings with sauce on it. Even the tater tots if you're randomly craving them lol. Beer is decent if dining in but sitting outside, and the fried mozzy sticks, onion rings and jalapeno poppers are standard-i'd pass. Safeway and taco bell is next door so don't settle lol P.S. and i cannot stress this enough, if you are doing take out, check that MF so you won't be disappointed like i did in the past lol!!!! If you're looking for a quick savory bite while watching a few games, then look no further. As y'all must know, I'm on a mission to support locally owned small businesses. I've been wanting to give Wicked Chicken a try even before COVID19 but never made it to that side of town. I had a strong craving for chicken wings yesterday and Wicked Chicken was the only spot in the area I found with indoor dining. I'm so over takeout and delivery. Anyway, when we arrived -- there were 3 tables open for seating with an additional 4 tables outside for patio dining. The restaurant is a bit dark but probably because it's more of a chicken wing joint where you would roll up with the squad to have some beers and watch the game. The gal that assisted us was nice and tried her best to be helpful but I would have to admit -- there were too much decisions to make at the register. "You could do this but can't do that, etc." All I wanted was the 25 wings family meal and with multiple flavors but I guess -- you could either chose two flavors at the time of ordering OR order them all plain and purchase dipping sauces at .50 cents a piece separately. I don't mean to be complicated but ordering shouldn't be so much work. Note to management: I would suggest being more flexible for patrons ordering from the menu. The focus should be on the experience and not so much on what would be inconvenient to modify. We ended up ordering the "Wing Meal" which came with 25 wings (2 flavors only) and 4 sides. For our two flavors, we chose Lemon Pepper and the Spiciest sauce they have to offer which is Global. In addition, we ordered garlic fries. The four sides we chose were the only four options on the menu: fries, mash potatoes, coleslaw, and a garden salad. With gratuity, it came out to roughly $60. The food was fine -- flavors were all in sync, and portion sizes were larger than you would get from your usual chicken wings spot. And no doubt, the wings were definitely bigger than your average Wing Stops. Other than streamlining the ordering process, I don't have anything else to report. I haven't been to this spot in a minute, definitely not in recent years since it's been called Wicked Chicken. When did that even happen? Anyway, my fiancé and I stopped by Wicked Chicken for dinner around 8:15pm on a Thursday. Overall service was great. Our server was friendly and helpful, and our food came out shortly after we ordered. We got 10 wings, a side of curly fries, a soda and veggies. The meal came out to around $42. It's not that great of a value when you can get a large 10 piece meal from Wingstop for half the price. But hey, the fried chicken pieces at Wicked Chicken are basically on steroids. We got the10 wings so that we could try two flavors. We chose the Korean and Nuclear. If I had to choose between the two flavors, I think I prefer Nuclear. It was more vinegar based than the Korean flavor, which seemed to have more ginger notes. However, I did find that the two flavors were almost too similar in taste and heat. The wings were overwhelmingly saucy. I had to scrape a bunch of it off, because the sauce was caked on the wings like mud. I felt like we should've gotten at least one dry rub as the second flavor to switch up our palates. The curly fries were fine. They were extra crunchy as they should be. Located right by Santa Clara University, parking was pretty easy to find. There are lots of spaces in the area. Noise level is quiet-average. There weren't many customers but the music and television were making noise. The employee was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the Go west burger (4.5/5): crispy crunchy bacon combined with the perfectly toasted burger bun. The BBQ flavor along the with tender patty really hit. The onion rings added that nice crisp at the end. The fries were alright. I wish they were a bit crispier and they were quite salty. Shout-out to the employee working and his appreciative attention to detail. After I finished ordering he asked me if I wanted a cup for water. It's also nice that they bring the food to you. Yet, they were also probably the most expensive wings I've had. I think Wingstop wings are something like half the price, but their sauce isn't as good as it is here. I didn't think I'd like this place. It's very unassuming from the outside and very casual on the inside. But the wings here are so good. There's a good amount of sauces to choose from. Came here to do the hot wing challenge. Eat the wings in 10 minutes or less and can't use napkins or drink during the challenge. The cook had me try the sauce that is just under the challenge sauce and I wimped out. But my friend attempted! He had 2 bites of a chicken wing and had to bow out. It's been a while since visiting Wicked Chicken (old University chicken/cluck u/smokeeaters/etc) and brought back a lot of memories. Near SCU but it wasn't packed for a Warriors playoff game which was nice. They had a lot of local IPA's on tap which is nice but no 805/modelo for something easier to drink during the game. The tenders were very similar to what they were back in the day but unfortunately, when you get 4 tenders, you can choose 2 sauces but the sauces have to be in a small container on the side. This is good I guess if you don't want your tenders doused in sauce but being a sauce guy, I would rather the sauce on the tenders. I came here with a couple of my co-workers during lunch and this place was pretty quiet for a Friday lunch period. There were about 3 other people in the shop other than us. Parking: There is a private lot that they share with neighboring stores, but there is plenty of parking. Liked: How easy it was to find parking. The experience. Disliked: How off putting their measure of spiciness is. They have the scale of the spicy wings and my co-workers and I tried them all and they were not spicy at all. So we went ahead and got the super spicy wings that were off the menu that you had to sign a fee waiver for and that was one of the spiciest things I've ever eaten. It was just VERY misleading with their marketing of their spicy scale that's posted on the wall. Best Part: They give you free ice cream with the spicy wing challenge, but that's because you can only take one bite of a wing before you can't have anymore, so you're basically paying for the ice cream. I come here to watch UFC fights. Very cool place. Good chicken wings. The service is fast. I love the garlic fries. I don't recommend the chicken Caesar salad. My son did not like the hamburger. $72 for a burger, 3 chicken tenders, and 10 wings. Wings were so over fried they tasted like oil and the bbq wings had globs of sauce. The burger came out raw and still frozen in the center. The chicken tenders were full of hot oil when you bit into them. The service was terrible. When we mentioned our burger was raw she was too busy sitting at the bar flirting with a friend to help. She said leave a yelp review. Guy on the phone hung up on me. I told him im new to this place and after reading amy's very detailed review. I just told him to make it the opposite of what happened to amy(not to make it over dry and burn the sauce) just to make sure its done properly and not burned sauce. He said "we will make it the way we will make it,on the oven we cant make it go in red there are certian times we cook it" and i said thats fine but "just make sure its done properly and not how it happened to amy and the other negative reviews with proof" and he kept saying"we cook the way we cook it" 10x. The chicken was decent, not bad but I have had better. The price is comparable to other wing places. The margaritas were ok, salad was fresh and the dressings were good. The fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The customer service was awesome. I would come back. I like my chicken fried a little harder so hopefully next time they will cook it that way, I originally requested it that way but it wasn't what I had expected. read more

Wicked Chicken is located next to Safeway in Santa Clara. Originally I had planned to check out Luna Mexican Grill in San Jose. It just so happened that they were closed that day (6/11) to install new equipment. I ended driving towards Santa Clara where I spotted Wicked Chicken. It was a sports bar with plenty of flatscreens, although there happened to be no games on at that time. I ordered Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders and Onion Rings plus a Soda. The food came out soon thereafter. The Chicken Tenders were large and tasty as were the Onion Rings. I probably should come back and try their Chicken Wings when there is a game going on to get the full sports bar experience (like the Golden State Warriors in The NBA Finals). read more
