This time it was a Puerto Rican silver rum called Castillo. Really smooth, even straight out of the bottle! Bacardi has the name in the states, but Castillo and Don Q are the rums you'll see people drinking in Puerto Rico! Stay away though from Palo Viejo, which means "old stick"! You're better off sucking on an old stick soaked in turpentine than drinking this stuff! Prices are reasonable as well. Maybe the tax on liquor is lower than in NJ! I questioned only because that seemed like a pretty high mark up for a 6-pack based on what the case total was. Was told that's what is in the computer and 6-packs are generally more, which I know. But while this was going on it was clear that the ladies at the counter were not happy about the questioning. I went and purchased the 6-pack only to return to buy the whole case (came right back in). Only made sense. While purchasing the rest of the case, and still questioning the mark-up, one of the women asked if my buddy and I were from Jersey. With no provocation other than questioning the price, she made it personal. This was strictly a business transaction and nothing more. I told her I was from right down the road. That shut her up pretty quick! After leaving, I researched that 6 pack and the pricing comes in around $12 to $17. The mark up here is outrageous. Of course, businesses can set the pricing anyway they want. But when it's as high as this was, they should expect to be questioned. But the ignorance of the staff was and is unacceptable. This local patron will not be back. Neither will any of my other friends and family, especially the ones from Jersey!!
