I ended up changing the transmission cooler because I noticed it only struggled to get in gear when hot. Anyways two years later same Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same trans and it shifts perfect and is still going. Maybe it was an honest mistake, what annoys me more is they performed a trans service without my permission, and when they did they striped 3 of the bolts on the pan, I am sure they used an impact gun. The pan leaks now. I don't live in NJ anymore, but I know the shop as it has been there for years. I couldn't accept that outcome, the cars only worth about 5-7k as is. I went to CKO for a second opinion. Pretty quickly I got a call from Dan over at CKO telling me that the transmission is actually in good shape all things considered, and that the crack and leak they alleged it had didn't exist. The real problem? A few things unclipped that were digging into my wheel well. Dan and Colin worked together to identify the real issue while thoroughly examining the alleged issue and ruling it out, all in amazing time. They added the clips, and the noise was gone. Honestly, the cars driving better than it has in a long time after they did that. This experience really made me question all the other work I've had done recently from other mechanics that pushed me into it. I think they just thought it'd be easier to convince me because of my cars age, but Dan and Colin kept it honest, straightforward, and sent me on my way after clipping everything up. CKO is my new forever mechanic, so whenever I get any issues moving forward they're the first place I'm calling or heading to. With my location, I've got to skip about 10 other mechanics that are within roughly 10 minutes of my place, but I'm so happily driving the 30 minutes it takes me to get there no matter what the issue is from now on.
