Roaches. Mice. Dirty laundry rooms. Dirty stairwells. Dirty elevators. Neighbors opening mail + packages in the mail room. No parking, they lost the parking lot we used so now it's the hunger games finding a place to put your car. No upkeep on apartments rented for 10+ year ( re-paint, new carpet, carpet cleaning) The list goes on. This is my view on the way to work this morning, it's been there for WEEKS. Almost makes me think someone lives under the steps smh I wouldn't be surprised.... Don't waste your time or money here. Plenty of newer more modern developments that'll foot the bill. read more

LITERALLY THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE!!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!! Rent is wayyyyy over priced. My Charger was stolen out of the parking lot when I first moved in. Mind you upon signing my lease they assured me there were cameras overlooking all the parking lots and each floor. That was a lie. The leasing office did nothing to assist. THE BUILDING IS DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY! The ceiling in my bathroom caved in two weeks ago from a leak upstairs. It's looks like this has been an issue before but they just patched it up. When the ceiling feel there was BLACK MOLD. I called maintenance to come fix it and all they did was wipe the visible mold away and put a trash can under the leak and never returned to fix it. So now my bathroom is basically out of order and unsafe to use and it reeks of MOLDDDDDDDD!! It smells like an Indian plantation. There are so many Indians here is ridiculous, the food they make on top of them not using hygiene products has the entire building reeking of funk! The property chargers extra for you to enjoy they pool and meanwhile the pool seems to never have been inspected because the pool stairs are falling apart and the pool is dirty bc the pool has no working water filter/pump. The trash room is in the middle of the lobby and it stinks sooooooooooooo bad omg. I feel like I live at a trash dump site. No cameras neighbors steal packages left and right! I HATE IT HERE! I am wondering why there is food and trash in the stairwell on the second floor. (At Whitney Apartments), It's been there for over a week now. This place use to be keep up pretty nice in stairwells, by painting the floor and the stairs as you come in and go up the stairs even, once every 6 months. Then maintenance person would mop the stairwell every week. Now all I see is trash in the stairwell, with meat and empty bags of chips and just trash. What a difference, it feels like a slum lord took over this building. The stairwells are starting to stink. I long for a manager that cares about the people who live in here. Like we use to have. And the door still isn't fixed after 2 years of trying to get it fixed. The back door, top part that pulls the door shut, takes 45 seconds to shut, but it doesn't always shut all the way. Because it's not being pulled hard enough to shut. I've asked so many times I am tired of it. This use to be a nice place to live, when I first moved here, Whitney Apts. had their own security, no mice, no roaches, but with food in stairwells let's guess why they have all these new problems. And now losing the parking lot, yes it's the hunger games. And I see another person on this blog wondering about upkeep on apartments. mine has been rented for 6 years, I'd say. When I moved in, I never got new carpet, I had to move in quick, because the apartment I was promised here, didn't have stainless steel, like it was suppose too, when it was finished. I was mad, but had to move into one that just got vacant, but they didn't have time to put new carpet in. So what happens about that after 6 years. Thanks A.W. for your input..... I've lived at the Whitney for about a year now & it is the most pleasant place I've ever stayed. When I walk into the main building the aroma that hits me gives me upscale hotel/beach resort vibes. All of my guests always comment on that first. I am always greeted by the staff which are honestly a group of amazing folks. Nicole the manager is by far the most amazing person. If you come to her genuinely and share what your experience is or questions she will literally stop whatever she is doing to engage and has honestly always ensured that I'm satisfied. The Whitney is honestly worth the money I'm spending monthly. I love How secure the buildings are. I'm a young person who is always alone and I love that nobody can follow me home. There is always security around and you literally cannot enter the premises unless you have access. The jacuzzi and heated pools are top notch. The workspaces are so elegant. I can Go on and on. I wasn't as thrilled with the apartment complex as I initially thought. The roommate and I had continuing issues with pests as the weather got warmer, predominately silverfish and some smaller type of roach. We kept our apartment immaculate and surrounding apartments were the problem. The office was very slow to respond and would often dismiss our concerns. One of the maintenance guys became overly comfortable and borderline unprofessional when working in our apartment building. Some of the really great employees were phased out or moved to new locations making the complex not as great as it once was. We lived at Whitney for 13 months--would I move back in? Probably. Is it worth the money? Not quite, considering the lackadaisical attitude towards resident concerns. read more

When I moved in this place I thought they were nice they had nice kitchens nice bathrooms I was happy until I realized this place is disgusting I pay over 1500 a month and there's no reason why I should be seeing bugs mice in my place these places are badly constructed they have holes all around the walls in the kitchen in the bathroom. I moved into this apartment recently into unit 3101. This apartment has HVAC installed in 90s which was never changed. Being in East Coast, this is really terrible to live in this apartment where the heater does not heat up your home. But they advertise it as Dream Home? I was wondering is it really humanity to let people freeze out in Cold weather but this apartment does it. Maintainance team is really good guys but who can reinvent 90s AC. I have reached out the manager but no luck yet. Hope someone will save us from this situation. Please do not move into this apartment unless the HVAC is fixed otherwise this community is really good one. I cannot wait to move! I have lived here since 2017 and this place is over priced, they let drug dealers and noisy college kids live here, people urinate in the elevators, and my floor always smells like weed or garbage. Management and other office employees are rude and unaccommodating. You have to pay for guest to go to the pool with you and the lifeguards don't do their job. My daughter would have drowned if I didn't come to her rescue as the lifeguards were sunbathing and talking. When I first moved here the roaches were ridiculous! read more

I and my husband were a tenant at Whitney Apts unit #7525 from Dec 2015-March 2016. We were there only for a short 4 months and had to move out because of work. Our stay, though short, was very pleasant. The apartments are very well maintained, airy and spacious. The guys at the office as well as the maintenance team, specially Wilson, were very courteous and helpful during our stay. All issues were taken care of promptly. We had only 2 issues - one with the coil on the cooking range and another with the dishwasher. These were taken care of within a few hours of bringing to the notice Will at the office. While leaving, had met with the Asst Mgr Frank. He was very helpful and by the book. I only wish he had agreed to my request of giving me a clean exit, but I can understand, he cannot do anything out of policy. Definitely recommend and will consider again if in Delaware. read more

I absolutely hate this place. Been living here for a year and can not wait to leave! The management team is absolutely so rude & ignorant it is sick. They tell you they will do things but it never happens. This complex has roaches. You can be the cleanest person ever and still see miscellaneous roaches. How disgusting. Not only that there was a huge dead rat in the common area in the main lobby. They are no cameras in this facility except the one In front of the front door, even though there are 8 other doors someone can get into. This place is the prettiest dressed dump!! All the buildings are infested with roaches and pest. I lived there for two years. I begged to be moved to the same apartment in a different building because of the infestation. I was given push back for 6 months. They finally allowed me to move and increased my rent by 200 dollars. My new rent was close to 1500 a month and that apartment had occasional pest as well. Maintenance takes weeks to resolve issues and the office will give the excuse that the elderly in the building have issues that are priority. The manager Angela is very rude and condescending. She will make sarcastic smart comments whenever you call with a concern, and huff and puff very childlike while on the phone. One of the maintenance men was drunk at the community pool on his off hours and kept intruding, and trying to join my family's cook out. We asked him to leave because we have young girls in bathing suits and he became very loud and aggressive. The managers response to this was, we will just not let him work in your building. When I moved however, of course he was still around. He didn't ever bother me again. It was just creepy, and the manager doesn't make you feel like concerns are welcome so I put in my final notice and just waited for my lease to end. People don't stay here for more then a year. They all move! That should have been my first flag. When I was moving in, two others were moving out. This is one complex where you do not get what you pay for!! Whitney apartments have roaches. ALL the buildings are infested! I moved here three years ago based off the nice experience my brother had when I was younger. To date I have had repeated issues with pest. They moved me to another apartment in an effort to escape the infestation, however they raised my rent by $250.00 due to market value for the same apartment. I threw out all my old furniture and appliances to now have roaches again. All the buildings are infested and the manager doesn't care. They ignore complaints and don't even greet residents when in their company. Rather avoid you and walk by with their head down. They send an exterminator that sprays in your apartment in less then 60 seconds and this is what I was told legally all they have to do. We moved into Whitney Apartments in Claymont DE. January 2019. Having NEVER lived in an apartment environment, this has been a positive experience. The Apartments are Large, offer Washer & Dryer in Unit, Spacious Kitchen, Living Room, Large Dining area to fit my (8) chair Dining Table, Large Master Suite just as big if not larger than our Master in our large home. (2) Full Baths again good size, (2) Large Walk-In Closets along with (2) linen closets. Balcony is PERFECT with 8Ft Sliders We had looked at "MANY" Apartments before settling here.. You get so much more for your moneyPlus area is quietOnce I sure your apartment you don't hear anything. They have (2) large pools, tennis courts and a fitness center along with small computer area. The STAFF is INCREDIBLEOffice staff are EXTREMELY helpful and get back to you ASAP as well as MAINTENANCE. We've put in a few little requests which were answered and remedied almost IMMEDIATELY There are a few minor quirks but not deal breakers. We highly recommend Whitney/Galman Group. read more

I've been living here since Feb 2015 and I definitely recommend this place to anyone. Emergency 24 hr maintenance is on point. Whenever there has been an issue, they are VERY quick to respond, even if it's at 12 at night. Regular maintenance requests sometimes take a little bit longer but with 500+ apartments, I'm sure it's not easy to fulfill everyone's requests right away. Staff is very courteous as well. Swimming pool, gym, and tennis courts and in general the property is well-maintained, despite people not picking up after themselves. The only thing I would like them to change is swap out the really old window units. read more

I live at this place and wouldn't tell anyone about this place for the money they charge to rent here isn't worth the money the only good thing is the pool but that ain't that great either the life guards are young kids hell I had to save a little girl in the pool cause the life guards didn't have there eyes on the kids in the pool, the company that owns this place owns the edge at green tree and i lived there to until I got burnt out of there in 2016,not the best maintenance staff at either place.take my advise and look elsewhere if your going to spend your hard earned money look some where else read more

Today I came to Whitney apts, to get some information about 2-bed apt availability, I had a very bad experience with this Whitney's staff telling us about available floor plans, at first he told us the rent will be $1080, but as I told him, we are looking to move soon in 1st week of May and looking to apply today,then he went inside his office spoke to his colleague saying, the rent is $1180, and earlier mistakenly he said $1080 for 2-bed, which is actually for 1-bed apt, then after sometime, he again went inside and spoke to his colleague, and again changed his words, saying actually the apt is of $1225. I was like if employee of Whitney cannot stick with his words, wondering how can we trust the apartment, looks like they are doing just business and trying to snatch money from their tenants ( Never had such experience before) - this is not what I was looking for. read more

I've been staying in this apartment since last 18 months. I chose this as other more popular ones were not available and/or very costly. As this was my first time to rent an apartment in US, it had its own challenges, but the leasing team helped to expedite the things so that I did not have to stay in hotel for more than 7 days. As I did not have a car for about 7-8 months, the bus stop in front of the building and decent frequency of buses 1 and 61 helped me to commute without any problem. The nearby RiteAid, Wawa, of Indian Store Everest can be used for urgent grocery requirements, all within a walking distance. The office staff is courteous and helpful. On rare occasion, I had to call multiple times to reach someone from admin office, but normally, the requests get attended pretty quickly. The cleanliness and hygiene is maintained by regular vacuuming of the corridors and common areas. Special mention of all the maintenance staff that has cleared snow in this harsh winter..! they have been up since as early as 5 AM to clear up the roads and walkways and they have done a fantastic job throughout the season. The only downside is the apartment that I live in is a bit old and needs some work for the gaps in window fixtures. This has lead to higher electricity bills, but some renovated apartments might not have that issue. Overall, good experience. read more

I just signed a lease to move into Whitney Apartments. I haven't even received my keys yet and I'm already thoroughly disappointed with their professionalism. I have been in contact with my leasing agent there for a month and throughout the whole process, no one mentioned anything about a pet deposit. However, minutes after signing the lease, we were told that they expected us to come up $500 for a pet deposit in less than a week. I showed them our welcome letter that stated the exact amount that we were supposed to bring with us, which did not include a pet deposit. I did not receive any documentation, nor did I sign anything stating that I was aware of a pet deposit. The woman we dealt with was incredibly rude, and just kept saying that it was an oversight and they expected us to have another $500 in less than a week. She did not apologize, nor did she attempt to do anything to rectify the situation. Eventually, I asked her to have a manager call me that next day, which resulted in another fruitless conversation. Again, no one gave me a sincere apology, and the supposed "manager" I spoke with basically told me there was nothing she could do. I can't believe I don't even live there yet and I am this miserable about it. The manager called it a miscommunication and refused to admit that it was their mistake and would not take responsibility. The only "helpful" suggestions they had the audacity to make were to either borrow money from someone or leave my pet elsewhere until I can come up with the money. I am disgusted with their attitudes and will not be recommending them to anyone. I'm disappointed that I've committed to living there and if I could, I would definitely not be moving in. read more
