i could have done it myself, Jake!!! my group of 7 were super excited to actually feel what a "LEVEL 3" white water experience would be like... i packed my personal PFD, so that i don't have to rub my skin on the mildewed collar PFD they offer. due to insurance purposes, i had to wear their PFDs...ugh! we were the first people to arrive in the parking lot, by 45 minutes... as some rested, we, others scouted the area - staying close to make sure we were first!! there were a few others, but they left in a white van, going on a 2-3 day kayaking/camping excursion... as the van of campers/kayakers left, customers started to pour in... as they parked, they all looked a bit busy, staff calling them, and so forth... time was coming close for us to depart... i took the liberty to walk over to the office and to see where we stood... the lady told me she was looking for me, even though she passed me (sitting by the trunk) 3 times!!! i could see where this was going... she hustled us to sign our wavers, pick up PDFs, helmets and paddles. we were now the LAST PEOPLE ON THE BUS!!! how unorganized these people are!!! we get off the bus, looked for Jake, our tour guide... instead of first introducing himself, he asked one of my guys to help him pump the raft! HOW PROMISING!!! as we stood on the outside of the raft, he introduced himself then, and told us to sit in the raft... he furthered us with (what he called) detailed instructions... we safely made it down to the water and boarded... going down the river, nothing much was said... maybe Jake was tired. i mentioned to Jake that i was a steer person for my dragon boat team, and all of us were on different teams - he decided to take it easy? all of the other rafts were going INTO RAPIDS, while Jake was AVOIDING them!! i didn't get it!!! well, being that he saw how we paddled with technique... he took advantage of us and made us paddle, more than enjoy the scenery... hahahaha.a.a.a.. screw that! when i said, "let'r run"... Jake was upset...(all 9 times!!) if i knew that Jake (the fake) didn't want to work that day - even though it hailed.... - i would have taken over, and had more fun!!

Website:http://www.whitewaterchallengers.com/ Guide: Josh Rivers: Indian & Hudson Experience: 5/5 -This was first whitewater rafting experience and the difficulty was around a 3 to 4. -I thoroughly enjoyed the 17 mile experience. At $68.44 per person (including insurance) the price is decent because they provide a guide, mid-afternoon snack of peanut butter honey granola raisin wrap and finally dinner bbq chicken breast, mixed greens, beans and brownies. -The whole trip took about 6 hours from start to finish. Tips: -A waterproof camera/case is highly suggested for awesome memories -Food can be placed in a dry bag provided by WC (Whitewater Challengers) -Bring sun lotion onto the boat and apply liberally -Stay hydrated and bring extra snacks Highly recommended!

This activity is good for families and friends. If you're going with children, make sure that you have enough adults to paddle with you for a more exciting and safer experience. Second of all, I have never experienced surfing on a raft until I went with this group! The 4-5 hour drive from the city is totally worth it. It is such a cool experience to surf the raft in the surf holes. Our guide, Mark, is so experienced that we were able to surf almost all the surf holes and enjoy the rush of water as we were surfing. The experience was a good mix of adrenaline rush and relaxation. There were parts where we just freely swam in the water, there was a part where we jumped off an 8-foot rock, there was also a part where you can ride the front of the boat as if you were riding a mechanical bull. This is going to be an annual trip and I look forward to the next year! I forgot to mention - their porta potty's are the cleanest porta potties I have ever seen in my life. They have hand sanitizers and all the supplies you need.

Fun songs, dad jokes told better, and I love to her say "Keep paddlin." Lori "Loves to SURF" . This is the best time in the Hudson. We spent several minutes in "Fluffy Box" and she even got the raft turned around!!! We also made it into Bus Stop and got in some good surf there as well. But wait - there's more! We went down Jiffy Pop Backwards!!!!! Bestest Ginger snaps and other super healthy lunch options too, washed down with yummy hibiscus pink tea. So - if you want the small company vibe that cares about you as a participant and partner, Square Eddy is the way to go.

Whereas some of the other local company have giant, full-size buses pushing through volume onto the river, this operation was intimate and friendly. In the short amount of time we spent with the owners, we got to know them and their friends very well. Linc was our guide and he was full of knowledge and information. He was also a tremendous guide as far as rafting is concerned. The lunch we all shared was homemade and delicious. The cookies we had were incredible. The fresh fruit was a nice touch too. In total there were 4 rafts and approximately 20 people. We didn't need to wait around for anyone and the entire operation felt smooth and well-planned. We had a phenomenal time and highly recommend this activity.

The water was a bit calm but there were a few parts that were crazy. I was in the back of the raft with our guide so that made me feel a bit safer (I'm adventurous but this definitely had my heart racing as a newbie). My fiancé and friends (they've gone white water rafting before) thought the water was too calm and mentioned coming back when the snow is melting and there are more white caps. Our guide was fun and was trying to get us to "surf" our raft next to a rock which was cool. He also jokingly led us into a rock and I flew forward (luckily he caught me before I went too far ha). When you do go, they provide all of the gear you need and more. Buses take you to and from the river. You will also have to help lift the raft to the water with your group (I ended up slipping and falling on the rocks going down to the river so that was "fun", there are snacks/lunch provided when there's a break in between rafting. Towards the end, it was so calm, we had to row for a good mile or two to get us back. When you get back, dinner is provided and it was delicious! I had a fun time and I do want to come back when the water is choppier. Summer was a good choice for a first timer. All in all, I loved this company and our guide (I want to say his name was Buzz). Thanks for the new experience!!

Staff was super friendly and you could tell that they loved their job. Our ride down the river was truly a lazy one and sometimes we had to push ourselves along because the current was so slow but we never felt in danger. Definitely wear sunscreen and I would recommend bringing bug spray too. We got bit by black flies a few times and they hurt!! Also heads up, the tubing spot only has one portapotty, so plan accordingly.
