We really like this raft company and Lori, one of the owners. Been rafting w/ Loti a few times. One of the most personable guides we gave been across three companies on five trips. Fun songs, dad jokes told better, and I love to her say "Keep paddlin." Lori "Loves to SURF" . This is the best time in the Hudson. We spent several minutes in "Fluffy Box" and she even got the raft turned around!!! We also made it into Bus Stop and got in some good surf there as well. But wait - there's more! We went down Jiffy Pop Backwards!!!!! Bestest Ginger snaps and other super healthy lunch options too, washed down with yummy hibiscus pink tea. This is a hidden gem. Just completed this rafting experience in August 2025. The operation is small but that is what sets it apart. Whereas some of the other local company have giant, full-size buses pushing through volume onto the river, this operation was intimate and friendly. In the short amount of time we spent with the owners, we got to know them and their friends very well. Linc was our guide and he was full of knowledge and information. He was also a tremendous guide as far as rafting is concerned. The lunch we all shared was homemade and delicious. The cookies we had were incredible. The fresh fruit was a nice touch too. In total there were 4 rafts and approximately 20 people. We didn't need to wait around for anyone and the entire operation felt smooth and well-planned. We had the BEST time with Link, Max, and Square Eddy! We just so happened to book our trip before we knew a huge storm was blowing through, pummeling the area with rain. In the 12 hours before our scheduled trip, Link and Lori did a great job communicating with us, letting us know the status of our trip and adjustments that needed to be made for safety as the water kept rising. In the end, they felt it was not only a safe trip, but going to be really fun. I won't lie, my heart skipped a beat hearing the safety instructions thinking I was likely going for a swim, but Link kept us feeling safe the whole time and knows so much about the area - we felt confident heading into some gnarly waves! We laughed so hard and had SUCH a blast - it's going to be disappointing ever doing this again not after a storm! We did a 17 mile white water trip with Square Eddy Expeditions. There are multiple Outfitters which will put you in a boat with a guide and like minded individuals and get you down the Indian River and into the Hudson, maybe feed you on the way, and you'll probably have a good time and remember the trip for a good long while. Square Eddy Expeditions is THE choice, though. From check-in to farewell it is so much more than a guided white water rafting trip. I went with my 12 year old son, and had a day on the water which we will never forget, along with making two new friends in Lori Phoebe and Linc. Both Lori Phoebe and Linc were very accommodating and because of the smaller group size (we were joined my 3 lovely ladies) were able to have really get to know everyone before getting into the bus up to the launching area. This isn't a "high volume, pile 'em in a boat and send 'em on down with some guide you just hired" operation. Linc is engaging on a personal level from the moment you meet him and the vibe is somehow upbeat and exciting while being chilled and mellow at the same time. The equipment is clean, seemed newer, appropriate for the job and well taken care of. Safety is a priority, as you'd expect, and all eventualities are covered before you even touch a boat so you're left with clear and actionable instructions for all circumstances. On the river two things are clear: 1. Everyone knows Linc - from the Dam Guy on the way up to pretty much all the other guides on the river. He greets them all like old friends. 2. Linc is the best guide on the water. His knowledge covers natural history, local politics, industry, wildlife, everything. And he works with the water to place that boat precisely where he wants it in those rapids. Just watching the other vessels and their occupants illustrates how great he is. He's steady, no drama, but there's never a dull moment. The food was an event all on its own. Quite unprompted before the trip Lori Phoebe informed my son that she had made a wrap for him with just cheese and turkey because sometimes kids don't like vegetables. Spot on! And the sweets and baked goods she had made - incredible. And a special shout out to Nick, a 'new to Square Eddy' guide who joined us on our trip to pick up the Linc way of doing stuff. Awesome guy and a great guide. The only decision you need to make is IF you want to do a white water expedition, because if you do, this is the outfit to do it with. No doubt. read more

Awesome! My family and I just spent a great day with Link and his crew. Their North Creek office is cute, clean, and efficiently operated. Lori runs the office well and provides guests with fresh delicious food during and after the trip. We hiked in to OK Slip Falls and then rafted out on the Hudson. Along the way we took a short spur off the trail to visit an abandoned cave and gorge that was formed years ago by garnet miners. Link was a wealth of information regarding the mining just as he was throughout the day on the history & ecology of the area and the river. The rafting equipment was waiting for us at our lunch spot along the Hudson The equipment was in good shape. The guides made sure we were safe on the trail and on the water. My youngest child is ten and he had a great time too. We previously rafted the Hudson with another local outfit but my family and I would absolutely select Square Eddy next time we raft. I recommend Square Eddy to my friends who want to raft the Hudson while visiting the Adirondack Park. read more

Our experience began with a phone conversation with Linc who patiently and enthusiastically described the company and the rafting trip. It was immediately evident that the vibe of the excursion was going to be positive and enjoyable. Linc was sincere and helpful in guiding us through the registration process and in providing us with the things we would need to make us "as comfortable as possible" during our adventure down the Hudson. The lunch prepared by Lori was delicious and refreshing. Especially the homemade baked treats! We were thoroughly impressed with this small, boutique outfitter. We needed booties and wet suit jackets, which were provided at no additional cost. We genuinely felt that both Linc and Lori went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Part of a bachelor party weekend, we made reservations for 10. I did not make the reservation but our friend who did said they were awesome on the phone and it was easy to make the reservations etc... The trip down the river was awesome - could not have been better. Our guide Phebe was knowledgeably and able to guide our raft to and through some pretty serious rapids and lunch was great. It was a great time - I would hands down recommend this to anyone looking for an adventure One small issue - perhaps I missed something somewhere - if I was going again I would have brought a supply of water. This was my first white water rafting experience and I don't think it can be topped! We had such fun on the river with our great guide Laurie. The guides definitely know what they're doing, and they put the safety and fun of the crew first. They were so nice and accommodating, served us a delicious lunch and even had hot dogs and drinks waiting for us when we were done!
