The water was a bit calm but there were a few parts that were crazy. I was in the back of the raft with our guide so that made me feel a bit safer (I'm adventurous but this definitely had my heart racing as a newbie). My fiancé and friends (they've gone white water rafting before) thought the water was too calm and mentioned coming back when the snow is melting and there are more white caps. Our guide was fun and was trying to get us to "surf" our raft next to a rock which was cool. He also jokingly led us into a rock and I flew forward (luckily he caught me before I went too far ha). When you do go, they provide all of the gear you need and more. Buses take you to and from the river. You will also have to help lift the raft to the water with your group (I ended up slipping and falling on the rocks going down to the river so that was "fun", there are snacks/lunch provided when there's a break in between rafting. Towards the end, it was so calm, we had to row for a good mile or two to get us back. When you get back, dinner is provided and it was delicious! I had a fun time and I do want to come back when the water is choppier. Summer was a good choice for a first timer. All in all, I loved this company and our guide (I want to say his name was Buzz). Staff was super friendly and you could tell that they loved their job. Our ride down the river was truly a lazy one and sometimes we had to push ourselves along because the current was so slow but we never felt in danger. Definitely wear sunscreen and I would recommend bringing bug spray too. We got bit by black flies a few times and they hurt!! Also heads up, the tubing spot only has one portapotty, so plan accordingly.

Fun songs, dad jokes told better, and I love to her say "Keep paddlin." Lori "Loves to SURF" . This is the best time in the Hudson. We spent several minutes in "Fluffy Box" and she even got the raft turned around!!! We also made it into Bus Stop and got in some good surf there as well. But wait - there's more! We went down Jiffy Pop Backwards!!!!! Bestest Ginger snaps and other super healthy lunch options too, washed down with yummy hibiscus pink tea. So - if you want the small company vibe that cares about you as a participant and partner, Square Eddy is the way to go.

Whereas some of the other local company have giant, full-size buses pushing through volume onto the river, this operation was intimate and friendly. In the short amount of time we spent with the owners, we got to know them and their friends very well. Linc was our guide and he was full of knowledge and information. He was also a tremendous guide as far as rafting is concerned. The lunch we all shared was homemade and delicious. The cookies we had were incredible. The fresh fruit was a nice touch too. In total there were 4 rafts and approximately 20 people. We didn't need to wait around for anyone and the entire operation felt smooth and well-planned. We had a phenomenal time and highly recommend this activity.

This beautiful hiking trail begins just a few minutes North of Bolton Landing. As you drive north,…read morethe trailhead is clearly marked on the left. There are two loops, one with yellow trail markers that is about a mile long, and one with blue trail markers that is about 5 1/2 miles long. The trails are very clearly marked. We hiked there on a July afternoon and we were the only people there. It was like being in the wilderness, even though we were very close to town. The longer trail goes through the trees, along a stream, and takes you to a serene pond, as well as a look-out point. We saw some beautiful mushrooms, as well as many frogs, toads, and salamanders. Highly recommended for an afternoon hike!

Family gathering (we had 4 rooms in the Lodge) for 3 days, 2 nights. Terrific setting for all ages…read more Our group included grandparents, adult children & 3 toddlers. Loved the Lodge decor & space, coffee station in lobby & daily choc chip cookies in the lobby. We used the game room, the indoor pool, the hang out areas. Favorite spots were the beach, snack shack, deck overlooking the lake. Beach swim area PERFECT for toddlers!! The sand was great & resort provided beach toys, chairs & beach towels (so helpful!). Loved the open grassy areas, fire pits & cute chairs, playground & mini golf. Only gripe was our lower level rooms were musty & water stain on shower ceiling (Rm 211) - would be easy to fix that stain. Daily housekeeping for the rooms is included but slow (I had to request it 3 times in one day; finally done around 4:30pm). Overall we would totally recommend this resort. VERY family-friendly! We made terrific memories & would definitely return. I just think a bit more refreshing of the rooms would elevate the experience to remove the negatives.

PROS: Fantastic long zipline run above the creek, The dual-control interlocking tie-off technology is a great improvement that makes unintentional detachment from the fall protection system impossible. Great to see all ages and stages of people on the course. Onlookers (non-participants) are welcome to observe the course from the trails and picnic benches. Lots of parking, clean toilet facilities.

First third of the trail is mostly open brush with a very annoying fly problem. Deep woods off did nothing to them. The flys were borderline overbearing...more challenging than the actual hike. Once you got into the woods, no more flies. Fire tower is in great shape. Glad I did the trail but would not do again due to the flys.

This is one of those things you shouldn't review because you don't want it overloaded with others,…read morewhere the selfish gene blooms. But, this is also one of those things you must-must-must review because it's the best damn thing God & Mother Nature ever could have birthed. And, sure, reviewing a trail seems strange, but this is the Adirondacks -- and there's a fine chance someone is looking for the hike of their life; this is it. I've hiked a bit, yes, but I've never climbed a mountain, let alone two -- and that's what this trail offers. All told you'll be ascending just about 8,700 feet of elevation (yeah, I know, in one hike). You can "bag 2" of the 46 peaks over 4,000 ft. elev are on this trail. If you hike in on the West end (like us) you'll climb Giant Mtn. 11 miles later you'll end up on the East end if you hike through (the key to this is to have a loving partner / family member / neighbor move your vehicle from where you hike in over to where you hike out so you can hike through rather than back track -- there's also the drop off, pick up option too). I'll leave the dirty details for when you dive in to this (and, really, you can just dive in as I did: I hadn't hiked in 4 years, and not exercised in nearly a year and I pulled it off, so you can, too.) Beyond human will, what's the driving force? Companionship on the trail, the fact you get to the peak of a mountain twice, and then the endless payoffs of 360º views for just about 50% of the trail. (Really: the photo set I added is a panorama of the trail from Bald Mountain, a little over halfway through the trail). It's called Ridge Trail for a reason. You spend a majority of the time on rocky ridges overlooking the 6 million acres of the ADK, Lake Champlaign and Vermont. If you time your hike right (late July to mid-August) you'll come across Blueberry Cobble where wild mountain blueberries blossom. There's also a 3000+ ft. alpine lake -- Lake Mary Louise to "water up." Bring a water filter. Overnight camping areas are super limited, and considering the difficulty of the trail you'll want to leave packing in gear for the well-versed and fit (cobble is an option for an overnight). If you hike in at 730am, plan to hike out around 530pm (however if you're the amazing guy in red that trekked this trail in just about 6 hours total, I think, that we came across, I'm super impressed and I should've high-fived you). You'll traverse 11 miles of some of the best nature views of your life. Consider the steep, narrow 4 hour rocky, rooty descent before you take this on. Going down a mountain can be easily overlooked, and this is a painstaking descent that takes a massive amount of mental focus. If you do take it on, the mental, emotional, phyiscal and spiritual clarity that happens will carry through the rest of your life. And, believe it or not, you'll be ready to do it all over again. This was my first ever hike in the Adirondacks, and it's far beyond novice or intermediate, and I like that. There's no better introduction to this mountain range to inspire someone -- like me -- to become a 46'er by the time I'm 46. Two down!

The hostess kept giving me strange looks and telling me that I needed to leave, and that I looked "unwell" and "sick" but it's a free country and she did not receive much of a tip. 10/10 would recommend highly
