This is the beach we visit when in Corpus. Last visit was July 4th weekend. Convenient as you can park your car on the shore making it easy to unload and pack it in when you're ready. We typically park our car in reverse so we can set up the chairs/cooler out in front of the trunk facing the ocean. Makes for easy access to the shore. Everyone is respectable with cleanliness and ensuring trash/debris are thrown in the garbage cans and not littering. We always meet some friendly people here where we share some beverages and beach space with. Quite a community here. Don't forget your beach parking permit; you can purchase it when you enter ($12 for the year). read more

We came here on a Saturday in mid May and while there were lots of cars and people, it didn't feel that crowded and everyone was friendly and polite. We were able to set up our canopy and enjoy our 4 yo playing in the sand and in the shallow waters. It was nice because the waves aren't too crazy and it's actually very shallow for a while. The beach parking permit ($12) also could be purchased right in the front so you didn't need to stop by a gas station prior to coming. I would definitely recommend this beach and hope to come back again soon! read more

Oil! I thought it was a piece of dirt or something just stuck to my foot, so I tried to remove it with my other foot. Instead, it just smeared! It was oil, and it was SO difficult to remove. It was very scattered throughout the beach and was hard to avoid with laying towels down. It was still enjoyable to play in for the kids, but you should bring wet wipes with Dawn dish soap! It won't come off with the salt water or regular towels without smearing it. read more

Love this beach! We purchased a parking pass at a local stripes for $12 that's good year round. We were able to drive into the beach and park on the sand and go in the water! We had so much fun. We saw couple of cops and rangers on the beach which is nice. The beach was clean and there was no craziness or teenagers going nuts. We came for spring break with the family it is definitely a beach to visit with family. Their website was pretty informative as well. Can't wait to come back! read more

Whitecap Beach, is named after the white sands. You'll find Whitecap beach at the end of the Whitecap road. There is a mile-long seawall, which is called Padre Island Seawall. The seawall protects hotels and resorts. The seawall is elevated which makes it perfect for a sand-free path for biking, jogging, or walking along the beach.  We enjoyed many mornings/days on this beach. There is a $12 daily fee if you want to park directly on the beach. Passes can be bought at Stripes, H-E-B, Circle K, IGA Market or compliance officers. read more

Whitecap beach is a beautiful and clean beach in south texas. Growing up in a landlocked Texas city (Dallas), it made my heart happy to have access only a few hours away to a nice beach now that I live more south. Access to whitecap is very easy, we stayed in an air bnb 2 minutes away and we drove and parked right where the round-a-bout is. A parking permit is required, but thankfully our air bnb host had it for us. The water was actually clear, warm and shallow enough with small waves that you can get pretty far our there without having to swim. Its a great place for families to hang out and play games. As for this past month it has been jellyfish season so beware! Overall its pretty nice, but too many jellyfish to safely swim in the water for me. read more

Tip: Get the $12 beach sticker from a local beach store, grocery store or gas station. You can drive and park on all area city beaches with the sticker. Tip 2: Get there early and stake out your space. This place fills up by noon even during the week. Pros ... close to CC without driving as extra 15-20 miles to Port A or PI National Seashore. Easier to drive here on the beach than Mustang Island. Cons ... small setup area between water and road. Tourist everywhere. No showers to clean off as you leave. read more

This beach is so pretty, even in 30 degree weather. Lots of drift wood and shells! We have never experienced beaches that people can drive on, but apparently you can here. The sand is super soft and I was surprised to see how clean the beach was. We did find a couple pieces of trash we picked up but for the most part, it was pristine. I feel like it would be such a romantic date night to drive out on the beach to have dinner, we are planning on doing that here soon. I liked that they also had tons of security driving up and down the beach, it's reassuring, especially since there were people swimming in the water with a red flag. Regardless, I think this is an awesome beach! read more

I absolutely love this beach area in Corpus Christi. There is so much beauty and sea life. However, I really don't know how environmentally conscience it is to have cars driving on the beach. I've read it causes shore erosion. I would reccomend parking over where it is free - near the Holiday Inn and other locations. Asides from the on the beach parking, the restrooms are gross and rarely maintained. There are not enough areas to clean and wash up, there used to be. It is enjoyable however, there's lots of sea and wildlife to admire. My children and I have seen all kinds of unique sea creatures wash ashore when walking from one end of the beach to another. read more

Pup friendly beach with FREE parking and bathrooms? Yeah, I dig! You can drive on the beach and park here but with a permit only (annual pass is $12, what a steal!) but there are lots around the beach with free parking. It was easy to access, walk over handset up camp for the morning. The sound of the gulf was music to my ears and the water on my toes gave me all the feels. You really can't beat this beach while in Corpus Christi. read more

Not everyone is a fan of Texas beaches but you know what?! Some days you just need your feet in the sand! Or to view a perfect sunrise or sunset right on the water. Whitecap Beach is a place where you can do just that. It is just a nice little road trip away so I came down here to enjoy me some beach time. This was actually my first trip down to this area and I surely enjoyed it. In my opinion it's much cleaner also than Galveston or Surfside. I love that the sand down here is super easy to drive on. Many folks just park their cars right there and you're able to get your chairs and sit right on the water. I am all for a laid back, no frills beach situation. It is mostly a very quiet beach as well...not too rowdy or super crowded with tons of families. August was still pretty hot but a quiet time to go especially if you get out early morning or venture out at sunset to catch that breeze. There are lots of restaurants in the area that are a short drive away. You may also rent chairs and umbrellas as well or head on over to the Padre Islander which is super close by to grab your beach towels, chairs and etc. read more

This beach was a nice surprise! We wanted to go to Mustang Island state park but it's was full by the time we arrived (noon on a Saturday). Whitecap beach was close by and had good reviews so we took our chances and went there instead. It's a drive up beach and parking passes can be bought for $12 at the beach. It looked pretty busy but we got lucky and took a spot near the entrance as another car was leaving. Most people bring tents/umbrellas for shade and chairs to sit in on the beach. We really appreciated the cool breeze on such a warm summer day! The water also was the perfect temperature and the waves were fun to play around in. We enjoyed snacks that we packed and played some music on our portable speaker. We had a great time and would go back to Whitecap next time we visit Corpus! read more

Always my go to beach because of the parking next to the holiday inn, the showers, public restrooms, and easy access! It's a great place to go for a run up and down the sea wall or set up a tent for an all day trip. I will say, there were a bunch of jellyfish washed up on shore and I witnessed a few people get carried off the beach because of the jellyfish. But, what do you expect? It's the beach. read more

Cowabunga! Catch some gnarly whitecaps at this beach, brah! This is a totally tubular spot, just outside of Corpus Christi, on the way to North Padre. This is a free beach, with beautiful scenery and clean beaches. They offer public restrooms and showers! There's all kinds of cool things to see and do here. It's a clean beach, devoid of plastic and litter. It's a cool place to see the sea, and get some sun. You can park for free here in the designated place and schlep your stuff to your preferred sunny spot, or if you have a parking permit, drive on out on to the beach in your own car and camp out! Don't get wild driving on the beach, there's low speed limits, and the beaches are considered a road like any other street in town. Most other beaches in other states don't let you just drive on the beach, I've heard. You can get a parking permit for $12 at CVS, Stripes, or HEB. Totally worth it. Driving on the beach is super fun, but just don't get stuck or drive into the surf! Those coolers are heavy, and they're not going to carry themselves. If you're cheap, it's not a far walk from the free public parking to the beach anyhow. The nice thing about this beach is that it's close to things that you need on the beach- convenience stores, grocers, restaurants, etc. Get surfin', dude-a-rino! Catch some whitecaps, yo! read more

I really loved this beach. The waves were pretty big the times I was there. It's gorgeous and I had a blast. There is parking that's close by. People just need to pick up their trash. It's so disgusting how people just trash beautiful places, so when you go, take more trash with you then you came with, it really helps keep the beaches clean. read more

We came here from out of town and it was a really pleasant experience! They allow parking on the beach-$12 permit which was nice! Golf carts are also allowed to ride the beach too if you have one! They also have a public parking area not too far that has showers and restrooms for use and a pier that you can walk to. This is also a pet friendly beach-which great if you're looking to go to the beach with your animal. They also made sure to have signage if there was any traces of bacteria in the water! This beach was awesome! You pay 12 dollars to drive up on the beach! That's super cheap and it's a all year pass!! We had set up chairs, tents, we even grilled which was awesome! We really enjoyed ourselves. The beach was clean, friendly people please for the love of god make sure you clean up your trash. It's disgusting when people leave trash everyone. F holes. Be aware all Corpus Christi beaches are closed till Aug. 1, 2020 because of you know what. I think the national seashore south of Bob Hall pier and Bird Island Basin is still open as it is in the next county south. I think Malaquite beach all the way to the end of the Padre Island National Seashore road is still open. read more
