    Waited for the Sunrise

My church group and I planned a spontaneous trip to camp on the beach just to see the sunrise! We packed blankets, pillows, and even built a small fire to then sleep literally on the beach! It was purely amazing. Such a wonderful first experience. I was able to put my camera to use.

This place feels a bit remote which is a good thing where you can park for free and enjoy the gulf. There is picnic tables, beach, bar & cafe, and fishing. The pier price to get on it is $3 and is about 1000 feet long. Today was pretty hot and some setup chairs under the pier to get away from the sun.

Sadly the pier is currently closed and under construction. Looking forward to it's completion after reading all it's amazing reviews! Will update once visited.

We came here during our summer vacation. Awesome view of the ocean. A lot of fisherman here so it has to be a great place to fish. $2 a person and for the price it was worth it. We came here in the evening and during the year when the water wasn't blue at the time. Not sure how true that is but hey I will had to take it for what it was worth. My family enjoyed their time here and I will definitely come back in the future if we come to this area again. There is a restaurant on the pier itself if you're interested on eating there. A lot of pavilion ares to eat at if you bring your own food. Enjoy the view.

Great little spot for fishing! The pier is long and was not crowded when i went. We caught a little shark and 2 sea bass.

Bob Hall pier is mainly a fishing pier. Everyone having a good time fishing. We were there just to see the pier itself. The resident pelican is so accustomed to people that you can actually touch it.

The moon looked gorgeous from the pier.

We watched the full moon rise out of the gulf on the end of the pier a few nights ago. I liked being able to walk out onto the water. You can see schools of shad swimming, flounder, rays. The fishermen and women were wonderful to see. I wish that I'd gone fishing. You can stay all night on the pier. The people are extremely polite and mature on the pier. I can't wait until I return to actually fish.

Not a glamorous beach, but that's expected on this side of the gulf. Great small waves for kids or husbands who can't swim. Not too busy when it's not summer. Great picnicking!

View from the beginning of the pier at night.

Went to Bob Hall this past week to fish. No luck - but at no fault of the pier. 3 stars because the pier is absolutely infested with cockroaches, and there is not really enough lighting for us night fishermen. Otherwise ok spot during the day/right time of the year.

This was a nice beach! Three dollars to walk on the pier. I saw lots of fishermen catching small, medium and large fish! The parking is free and they also have free restrooms. I did not go inside so I do not know their condition. there is a restaurant on the pier. I did not eat there. Plenty of parking in the parking lot but you can also drive and park on the beach. There are little picnic benches set up that you can sit on or put your items. A great beach for all!!

Perfect afternoon on the Sourh Padre Island north beach at Bob Hall Pier, Mikel May's beachside grill.

Relaxing afternoon at the beach Padre Island, enjoying some peal and eat shrimp and a cold Dos XX.

Noting some serious rods out there, reportedly some larger fish caught here

$2 each for a nice walk on the pier - and we learned about shark fishing. I'd rather see them during scuba, but it's life

We went to 3 different spots. I wish we could have switched to try some sharks but I think they were waiting to max out on snappers and there were a few people not catching anything so we never did. Overall we had a super fun trip. We went back last weekend with my husband, son, and daughter. No one else had signed up for the 8hr trip so we got bumped to the 4hr. We were a little disappointed but I guess you can't control those types of things. Headed out about an hour. As soon as we dropped our lines me and my son's gf hooked bonnethead sharks! After that my hubby, and daughter caught one each. We hooked some bait fish and my hubby hooked a Mangrove Snapper. Only my son didn't catch anything. We all still really enjoyed ourselves! We can't wait to plan another trip! Both trips, all the guys were super nice and helpful. Sometimes you have to wait a bit if everyone's catching at the same time, but they try to get to you as fast as possible to unhook your fish and rehook your line if it snapped. Thanks for making both trips extremely enjoyable!!! We'll be back!

At each location the captain( overweight dude w long ponytail) kept drifting and couldn't stay on top of the fish which I believe resulted in us not catching very many fish. At one point as I was lying down in the passenger area as we were heading back I saw the captain run down into the men's restroom twice leaving no one in the wheelhouse as the boat was running! That's what a milk jug is for! Gonna try Fisherman's Wharf next time. As you can see in the video provided the fish was very slim pickings due to the captains inability to stay on top of the fish! He kept drifting!
