Visiting this park was an unexpected pleasure as we were actually looking for the Centennial House…read more I enjoyed the Gold Star World War II memorial to mothers of those who served. The only caution to the park is the steep incline to the Centennial House and Catholic Church. Otherwise, we enjoyed the visit. There are stairs located at either end of the park. This place seems well-maintained and clean. Please check out this piece of history.

Gold Star Memorial Park This scenic park is located right at…read morethe base of Old St. Patrick's Church, overlooking the Corpus Christi Bay. It's a scenic park, with a giant memorial to those lives lost in World War I from Nueces County. Turns out, there were quite a few soldiers who died for the cause of liberty and freedom fighting in the Great War. This memorial on the hillside is a reminder of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. There's a large marble plaque here, and a big sign that lets you know what's going on here. It's a fairly big park for downtown, but a lot of the park is on a heavy slope. The other part is all natural grass, but I'm not sure if it's respectful to go play Frisbee or walk the dog around a war memorial. There are no picnic tables, trash cans, or facilities here. There really aren't any sidewalks to help you navigate the hill, you gotta walk in the street, or walk on a heavy grassy slope. No restrooms. It kinda seems that this was a happening park back in the 20's, but has fallen into disuse in the last century. Parking is a bit on the challenging side, as you either have to park in the church's lot, or walk.

If you're in Corpus Christi, you absolutely should take the time to visit the Selena Memorial…read morestatue. Whether you're a fan of Selena, her music, or the impact she made on Mexican-American culture, it's a meaningful way to pay homage and appreciate her legacy. Corpus Christi honors her beautifully, and you can really feel the pride the city has for their hometown icon. The memorial is right on the water, and at night the lights illuminate it, making for stunning photos and video. It's peaceful, memorable, and truly worth the stop. Highly recommend taking a moment out of your day to visit.

We were excited to visit this tribute to such an iconic artist, and it was well worth the visit. When we arrived, we were able to find parking close to the memorial, making it easy to access. As we walked up, we could hear Selena's music playing through the speakers, along with information about her life and career. It really helped create a meaningful and memorable experience. The statue itself is beautiful and sits under a gazebo, allowing visitors to walk all the way around it. There are plaques and inscriptions that share more about Selena's legacy, and we enjoyed taking the time to read them and reflect on her impact. This is also a fantastic spot for photos. The memorial's location along the Gulf Coast adds to the atmosphere, providing beautiful views and a peaceful setting that complements the tribute perfectly. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply visiting Corpus Christi, this memorial is definitely worth stopping by. It's a beautiful way to honor her legacy and a great place to spend some time taking in both the history and the scenery. "Siempre en nuestros corazones."

It seems that this park is in kind of a transition point in its history. There's not much to this…read morepark. It's a little isthmus out into the Corpus Christi Bay that's connected to the mainland so you can drive or walk out there. I'm not sure if the park is an urban park named "Norma" or if Norma Urban was a person, perhaps Keith Urban's great aunt. There used to be so much more to this park- it's kind of vacant now. There used to be grandstands and other amenities back in the day. Now, it just offers some great views of the gulf, and is a pretty, clean spot to go hang out. There's a big circular concrete slab that you can roller skate on. There's not much shade here, and there's not much to see other than the sea. There's a nice sign at the entrance welcoming visitors, and some things around that prevent you from falling into the bay. However, there are big plans for this park. The city is working on transforming it into a newly renovated park, with lots of places to sit, skate, bike, watch a concert, or hang out! I checked out the conceptual drawings, and they look cool! Imagine something reminiscent of Barcelona's Park Guell in Corpus! The entrance to the park is just down the way from the Selena Monument!
