I love this unpretentious place. They have a sweet breakfast room. Very cozy. The owner came into the breakfast room to greet everyone. I thought that was a nice touch. We read someone else's review about their stay and decided to give this place a try. GLAD WE DID.

We spent one night here while visiting White Sands National Park. The motel is an old motel, built decades ago, but it's well maintained. Our room was a bit small and somewhat dated, but again, well maintained. We liked the hotel's location at the south end of town. We ate just a few doors down at the winery, which was good, and were told the Asian restaurant next to the hotel was good. The hotel has sleds you can borrow to go sledding at the national park, which was cool. We checked out, took 2 sleds to the park, went sledding, then returned them to the motel. They provide a free breakfast but it was rather disappointing. Overall, I thought this was a good place and I would stay here again.

We booked 2 rooms at white sands motel and I was surprised with all the amenities there. Each room had a mini fridge, microwave, and TV. They served breakfast in morning which was a quick grab and go because of covid. I thought the blankets could be more thicker but I wouldn't be complaining so much. The place is in a prime location, a lot of food stores around the place, so that was a plus point too. We checked out in morning and went on the hike. While we were coming back we wanted to stop by the place again to use the rest room and the lady just offered the keys to our room again to use it as long as we want. So the owners were nice too.

Old style motel, still in style. Safe, clean, quiet enough, easy load & unload. Had never been to Alamogordo before, this is right in town center. I'm all about convenience & cleanliness & organization, this has all three.

    Family time cool little motel!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Not one to stay in chain hotels when there is coolness like the White Sands Motel! We were there to see family and I did the Yelp thing to find a motel/hotel. White Sands stood out above even the standard Holiday Inn's etc. It is a family owned motel. Looks like one of the old Roadway Inns. The family has taken beautiful care of it and every room has been updated. The front desk service was exceptional- very nice to answer any and all questions. One of the nights I decided I wanted to take pictures of the cool flashing Sands sign in the front. To my disappointment it was turned off. One of the owners (or night manager?) was outside closing down things and asked if he could turn the sign back on for me so I could take a picture. WHO DOES THAT?! So fun. Another fun note- we decided to all go sledding at White Sands National Monument. The motel has a whole stack of sleds by the ice machine in the front. When we asked about them they told us it was the honor system. Take as many as you need- but bring them back for others to enjoy. DONE AND DONE! Great price, beyond great service and just a great slice of local history in a family run place. STAY HERE WHEN IN ALAMOGORDO.

I can't say enough about how fabulous this place is for the price! The rooms are SUPER CLEAN and well maintained. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was cleaned and made up everyday of our 3 night stay. My favorite thing about this motel has to be the vintage charm that it just naturally has and isn't "kitschy"

lovely people and great location. Complimentary sleds and breakfast. The rooms were a bit dark, but an economical choice.

To top it off, I found out how honest the people who work at the hotel are. I left my laptop in the room upon checkout and they called me after more than hour of checking out to tell me they have it. Shout out to Marisa at the front desk and the cleaning crew for helping me out with that! THANK YOU!!

Upon arrival the front desk tried to tell us that we did not have a reservation. The front desk girl (who was nice) called, what I assume was the manager, who argued with us over speaker phone. The manager was rude and giving us attitude saying that we had cancelled our reservation. My husband pulled out our confirmation email and showed it to them. Long story short we ended up with the very last room available. The front desk was unsure the room was even available and had to go up to the room to make sure no one was in it. Once we were finally checked in we realized the pool was out of commission. It said "closed for renovations" but no reno's were in progress. We headed up to our room which looked nice upon first glance but was not nice at all. The tile on the bathroom floor was missing grout and the tile moved around when you walked on it. The shower looked dirty and I didn't even want to put my feet on the tub without flip flops. The air vent looked like it hasn't been cleaned since the hotel opened. The remote to the TV didn't work and again, the room had a dirty feel to it. The only nice part of this hotel is the lobby and its huge fish tank.

Could have been a bit better but could have been a lot worse. I would stay again. All of the staff were just EXCEPTIONAL! Best part of the stay. The woman who checked us in was really friendly and so helpful. Provided us some good recommendations for local restaurants. I'd give her 5/5 stars for service. The room was adequate. The bed spreads were a bit old and stained. It would be nice if the hotel replaced them altogether. The bathroom and vanity were clean and stocked w essentials but the sink had cracks and the mirror frame broken. Not deal breakers but seems like something that would be easily fixable. The beds were comfy though and we had a good nights sleep there so as previously noted it was adequate. Served our purposes. We did partake in the breakfast and it was average in terms of options. Other than a waffle machine, there weren't other hot foods but there were enough workable selections. While there are some tables in the breakfast area, it was small and cramped so we opted to bring breakfast back to the room. If you are looking for an inexpensive stay near white sands and don't mind lack of luxuries, this should meet your needs just fine. Good for short stays.

It had a small problem with the bathroom door which we advised the front desk of when we checked out. We can't speak to the breakfast because we got a spot-on recommendation to the Waffle & Pancake Shoppe right across the road, but would have no trouble spending the night here again.
