I decided to give up some privacy and admit to the internet that I go to a marriage counselor just so that I could give this guy some props. I've been to 2 previous marriage counselors and 2 previous individual counselors, and Russell is by far the best I've experienced of the whole lot. It's unfortunate that it is so difficult to find recommendations on psychologists which is why sometimes you just have to use trial and error to find one, which wastes time, money, and who wants to repeat your life story over and over anyways? That's why I decided to do my part and give him some kudos to help point people in the right direction. :) Russell is very good at helping me understand why a conflict arises and how I can avoid it in the future. I've noticed that I've started being more comfortable being upfront and communicative with my husband, which helps reduce potential misunderstandings. He's also helped us understand each other better and have more compassion towards each other, which further reduces misunderstandings and conflicts. He's even given us advice on parenting, helping us to understand bad behavior - how we were unwittingly encouraging the behavior and what we can do to stop the behavior. He also costs the least of any psychologist I've been to previously, and he does both marriage and individual counseling.
As a side note, I want to mention that there seems to be a lot of people out there that think you have to be "crazy" to need to see a psychologist. I want to let everyone know that psychologists are great for getting you through a tough period in your life, advising you on life choices, and helping you to understand both yourself and other people. Every normal person has these kinds of issues, and a psychologist's advice can be invaluable and help you grow as a person and strengthen your relationships. So don't let stigmas or other people's perceptions stop you from doing something that's going to greatly benefit your life. read more
