I did grab my purse and bag but had to leave all our just purchased concessions behind. It was cold outside and a lot of customers were milling about but no one came out to give us instructions. Then someone said it was an electrical problem and we couldn't go back inside so my son in law went and got the car and we left, sadly leaving two buckets of popcorn, candy and drinks at our seats. Those things sure aren't cheap plus we now have to try and get reimbursed by a third party ticket agency.

The seating is well angled and comfy and the projector and screen quality are high (digital I would guess, not sure if 4K though). Sound system also seemed good and I did not hear any noise coming from other screens. My main criticism is that the management clearly have no clue about anything digital. The website is poor, the online booking system and ticket collection system are terrible. They are not listed on Google cinema. But ignoring all that, there's a good chance you will enjoy the movie. Oh, and they serve Ben & Jerrys icecream.

when the old cinema was closed down it wasnt much of a loss to the town, it had become so behind…read morethe times that not many people visited anyway. when the suggestion to put a new cinema in the chartre hall was announced there was outrage as the charter hall was home to the much loved market. now the cinema is here and has been up and running for sometime it is obvious what a huge benefit ti is to the town. it is a very comfortable cinema with 2 screens, the smaller of the screens is especially comfortable with leather chairs and sofas and is also licensed. the films they show are all new releases and theer is a nice assortment of snacks available to buy from the kiosk. price wise th ecarlton is aslo cheaper than going to a big multiplex too :)

Good selection of refreshments; clean toilet facilities. Shows a variety of mainstream movies on general release, with clever timetabling so that there's a good selection of films throughout the week. Recommend prebooking at busy times, esp in holidays as it can get very busy. The car park can also be crowded, so worth sharing a car if you can. VERY pleased to have a local cinema back again. The seating is extremely comfortable with some screens having sofas available as well as chairs so you can enjoy the cinema experience from the comfort of your own sofa! There is a licensed bar here and they also offer waiter service and will serve drinks to your table while you watch the film. The staff are friendly and helpful and the cinema itself is clean and tidy.

This traditional…read morecinema has all the usual small screens, tacky decor and shabby seats but this is why it is worth a visit. In an attempt to introduce some modern comfort they have recently refurbished one of the screens and have removed the traditional seats and replaced them with leather sofas and armchairs plus waitress service.
