In an attempt to introduce some modern comfort they have recently refurbished one of the screens and have removed the traditional seats and replaced them with leather sofas and armchairs plus waitress service.

Then someone said it was an electrical problem and we couldn't go back inside so my son in law went and got the car and we left, sadly leaving two buckets of popcorn, candy and drinks at our seats. Those things sure aren't cheap plus we now have to try and get reimbursed by a third party ticket agency.

Good selection of refreshments; clean toilet facilities. Shows a variety of mainstream movies on general release, with clever timetabling so that there's a good selection of films throughout the week. Recommend prebooking at busy times, esp in holidays as it can get very busy. The car park can also be crowded, so worth sharing a car if you can. VERY pleased to have a local cinema back again. The only cinema this west of Cornwall. It has a very long history with being one of the oldest in the country. One useful tip. If the film is very popular, come early and have a drink upstairs. You get to go in before anyone else is allowed so you can get a better seat and have the ability to make sure you can sit next to your friends and family. Above it there is a family restaurant and attached is a take away pizza place.

How wrong we were - the building is modern, crisp, a vast improvement on the old cinema. Sweets, ice-creams and popcorn are reassuringly expensive (so stock up beforehand in your local supermarket) and there is a social bar area where you can meet up with friends before seeing your chosen film. We found the seats comfortable, roomy, spacious - overall a surprise! The carpets are a bit 70s but can't have everything. There isn't any parking nearby yet but it means you have plenty of time to discuss the film on the way back to your car. In summary, a pleasant surprise, a real treat for St Austell, and one we will go to again and again!

These are that there is no online booking facility, it can be quite pricey and numbers of youths often frequent the venue and leave their rubbish sitting around. The screen we went in to was tiny and the floor was sticky, it felt as though they hadnt cleaned or hoovered in ages. I could only see one member of staff who was trying to sell tickets, man the food section and answer the phone clearly couldnt cope with all the tasks expected and was in desperate need of help. They also show the usual blockbusters etc around a month after their release and because the cinema is so nice we often wait until then to go watch a film, with fewer people it's a much better experience. Also just as you go in the doorway, to the left they usually have a gallery display and to the right they occasionally have a book sale in the evenings after a film, i've picked up some fantastic books from there! Word of advice if you want snacks and nibbles during your film they sometimes have them on the counter but not always and not many, so pop across the road to Threshers and grab yourself a bag of something.
