Good selection of refreshments; clean toilet facilities. Shows a variety of mainstream movies on general release, with clever timetabling so that there's a good selection of films throughout the week. Recommend prebooking at busy times, esp in holidays as it can get very busy. The car park can also be crowded, so worth sharing a car if you can. VERY pleased to have a local cinema back again. when the old cinema was closed down it wasnt much of a loss to the town, it had become so behind…read morethe times that not many people visited anyway. when the suggestion to put a new cinema in the chartre hall was announced there was outrage as the charter hall was home to the much loved market. now the cinema is here and has been up and running for sometime it is obvious what a huge benefit ti is to the town. it is a very comfortable cinema with 2 screens, the smaller of the screens is especially comfortable with leather chairs and sofas and is also licensed. the films they show are all new releases and theer is a nice assortment of snacks available to buy from the kiosk. price wise th ecarlton is aslo cheaper than going to a big multiplex too :)

Which does not have amazing sound or amazing screen. The decor is art decor - truly and the reception is always welcoming with a big smile. Expect to either go and be one a few to be in the cinema or prepare to book if it is a blockbuster French Lieutenant Woman et al If you are in Lyme and it is raining - go to the cinema it will be a experience that you will enjoy even if the film is no good..

It sells popcorn and sweets in the foyer and then the two cinema rooms are both of an ok size with comfy chairs. This place closed down for a while a few years back and it was a real disappointment so I was really glad when it reopened. I can't understand why people travel to the big multiplexes to watch films when this is on their doorstep! It is a real asset to Burnham and long may it continue.

We have always been welcomed by the volunteers who run the cinema and hall and really appreciate the service that they provide, my father, 2 daughters, wife and occasional friend I take with me would not dream of going anywhere else even though it's twice the distance of the cinemas in Swansea. The one annoying feature of the cinema is not with the organisers but with some of the visitors who with blatantly drop their rubbish on the floors between the seats when there are easily accessed bins in the same room. If you want a relaxed and very enjoyable atmosphere then pay a visit to Brynamman - they even have ice cream/sweet ladies!! A top of the range night out and there's a chip shop a few yards away for after the film. Lovely people, lovely environment as well as so many other wonderful and timeless qualities which are sadly lacking in today's society.

The hall was opened in 1926 with funds from the Coal Board & contributions from the people. It is one of Wales's oldest independent cinemas. In August this year (2010) they upgraded the viewing facilities so they can show 3 D films. The interior has also all been recently refurbished and looks clean and fresh. The hall not only shows films, I went to watch the Christmas Pantomime there this week, The scenery and performance was brilliant. They show all the top films, run by locals for the locals. Car parking behind. A hall where the hold dance lessons,a snooker hall and other community events, is under the main hall.
