We have always been welcomed by the volunteers who run the cinema and hall and really appreciate the service that they provide, my father, 2 daughters, wife and occasional friend I take with me would not dream of going anywhere else even though it's twice the distance of the cinemas in Swansea. The one annoying feature of the cinema is not with the organisers but with some of the visitors who with blatantly drop their rubbish on the floors between the seats when there are easily accessed bins in the same room. If you want a relaxed and very enjoyable atmosphere then pay a visit to Brynamman - they even have ice cream/sweet ladies!! A top of the range night out and there's a chip shop a few yards away for after the film. Lovely people, lovely environment as well as so many other wonderful and timeless qualities which are sadly lacking in today's society.

The hall was opened in 1926 with funds from the Coal Board & contributions from the people. It is one of Wales's oldest independent cinemas. In August this year (2010) they upgraded the viewing facilities so they can show 3 D films. The interior has also all been recently refurbished and looks clean and fresh. The hall not only shows films, I went to watch the Christmas Pantomime there this week, The scenery and performance was brilliant. They show all the top films, run by locals for the locals. Car parking behind. A hall where the hold dance lessons,a snooker hall and other community events, is under the main hall.

Inside the cinema is like a 1950's time vault but has all the latest digital screening technology which only makes for a great experience and most importantly the drinks and sweets are supermarket prices not ODEON £6 a hotdog - I know where I'd rather be. The seating is extremely comfortable with some screens having sofas available as well as chairs so you can enjoy the cinema experience from the comfort of your own sofa! There is a licensed bar here and they also offer waiter service and will serve drinks to your table while you watch the film. It certainly beat staying in my hotel room. I got there a little early and ordered a glass of wine at the bar, which also has beer, whiskey, and the like. They have popcorn available in both sweet and salty (or mixed, if you're like me). There were some locals there having a drink as well, and it was great! The theatre is all painted in murals, with fun old-fashioned seats and a very good visual and sound systems -- super up-to-date -- and I was able to take my wine and popcorn with me into the theatre to enjoy during the movie. They even have a couch, if you prefer to lounge. Everything was clean and well-taken-care-of, and the prices were amazing. Entry was only £5 (£6 for the balcony). I come from the US, where popcorn is $8, so being able to get a nice glass of wine and a good-sized box of popcorn for £7 was great. All in all, this is a fun night out in an unexpected and quirky place, and I'd even suggest it for families, as it's inexpensive enough to take everyone, and super fun.
