We came here for a late lunch on a Thursday. There were 9 of us (including two small children), and…read moreit was between the lunch and dinner hours so it was not busy. We were brought chips and salsa to munch on while we perused the menu. The chips were stale and definitely not fresh. I liked the salsa, but just a heads up that it's a bit spicy. The food was great other than this. Three of our party had the Tri-Juana which was a taco, burrito, and enchilada. I was told the taco shell was stale, but it was otherwise good. Three of our party had soup (I didn't get any pictures), and they said it was really good. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Poblano sauce. I thought this was incredible. The flavor was rich, and the shredded chicken was cooked just right. It came with rice and refried beans which were also delicious. Most of us had margaritas as well. Their margarita menu is huge. I had the Caribbean Rita was refreshing and hit the spot perfectly. I would definitely have this one again. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was because even though our server was very friendly, the service was incredibly slow. We'd been there for 30 minutes before we even ordered our drinks and food. Our server was visibly busy managing many other tables. I imagine the other servers had been cut due to the time of day, but it was frustrating. (That and the stale chips). The ambiance was nice, and the location right inside the mall, close to the airport, was ideal. I would definitely go back, but I would want to try another time of day to see if the negative factors from today would be better.

Both the food and the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere is really enjoyable. My only criticism is that the restroom was quite dirty. If they pay more attention to that, they definitely deserve 5 stars!

We really enjoyed our visit to Semilla. The menu had a nice variety of dishes, and after a fairly…read morelong vacation up to that point, it was refreshing to find a place that blended flavors and influences from multiple cultures instead of another menu that looked much like the last place. Everything we ordered was very good, and on an extremely hot day, I was especially appreciative of how well the A/C was keeping up. I was actually a little cold--and I'm never cold. It felt so nice after getting overheated right before we got there. One thing I noticed while wandering around Old San Juan is that some restaurants likely survive on location and foot traffic alone, while others earn people seeking them out. Semilla definitely felt like the latter. It's tucked just around the corner from some of the busiest pedestrian areas, so it felt like we escaped the crowds for a little while without actually going very far. Overall, I'd happily come back. If you're staying nearby and looking for a good meal without being surrounded by the busiest tourist crowds, Semilla is well worth checking out.

Our server was so kind and attentive! She just moved here from LA I forgot her name but props to…read moreher she was awesome!! The drinks were strong I was stumbling out of there lol, but it was a perfect place to watch the USA vs Bosnia game. We all had a different semillosa, I highly recommend the passion fruit or pineapple. For appetizers we had the dumplings, tuna tostones, and ropa vieja turnovers. The star of the show were the turnovers!! The meat was tender and perfectly paired with the empanada crust. Dumplings were okay a little dry but packed with flavor. The tuna was soft and buttery with a delicious glaze. My dad ordered the breaded veal but he didn't end up liking it, however my fiance got the chicken carbonara and he said you must try.
